The Explosion

The next time Maria woke up it was dark already. Two thoughts immediately sprung up in her mind before she opened her eyes. First, she remembered the building her father had taken her to wasn't the actual building Ludovia directed her to. 

How such an important piece of information escaped her notice, was still a mystery. Secondly, she remembered she was in a room with Alcatara who was bound to a chair. Immediately, her eyes shut open and she jerked up.

"Oh, you're alive! Thank the heavens" she heard Alcatara say. He bent over her to check her vitals while she wondered how he was free.

"Are you okay?" He asked and she nodded. She tried to stand up but felt a sharp pain in her legs. She suddenly remembered everything now. 

Ludovia had hit her continuously with a rod. Her supposed grandmother had done that to her and then made her sign away their inheritance. Still, she needed to be assured there was something that could be done.
