The Beginning of the End

"Thanks, Maria, but I need you to leave now," Vincenzo said gently pushing her away.

"Don't do this" her eyes looked at his pleadingly as she stepped back.

"Please" he bowed his head refusing to meet her eyes.

"Why?" She asked stubbornly. She didn't understand why he was so stubborn. Why he didn't want her to see him upset. It was normal to feel like shit especially seeing what a disgrace someone you held dearly turned out to be. It was why she wanted to be there for him.

"Cus I need to be alone"

"But..."

"Please Maria. I'll call you if I have any information. You could also do some research on your end. I'll track my mum down and try to get some information from her. I don't think she knows I know ever so it'll be easier to do" he said with a dismissive tone and Maria knew there was no point arguing further. There was no changing his mind. It was quite a shame though. She wanted to be there for him.
