1 Prologue

Private Hueng Min Park gazed across the construction project his unit was responsible for. As his Service in the Millitary service came to a close, he was stuck building half a dozen Quonset hut in the middle of the DMZ for some higher officer . If there was one thing he had learned during his 17 months as a conscript in the Republic of Korea Armed Forces was Openly criticizing the stupidity of the high command was not a wise decision.

Thus he kept his mouth shut as he and the other Commissioned officer's mapped out the construction project while the enlisted personnel was hard at work building the Quonsnet huts that served virtually no purpose whatsoever for the Millitary except giving the COs there very own additional quarters . That's right, "Additional Personal quarters." Hueng Min doesn't care about the shenanigans of the Army but additional quarters that's outright injustice, this was like the government doesn't shower the army with millions heck billions of dollars for the issue of the DMZ.

In his mind, the ROK invests over 11 Billion dollars in the DMZ and thousands of young citizens, yet the High Command or the army can't even discipline the CO's or even the higher NCO's like the Sergeants proper manners this could very likely disrupt their entire missions as being conscripts for this Army but heck, nobody can reject the 18 month permanent conscription without facing the consequences.

Although he had objections within himself regarding the matter, he found solace in leaving the area on a personal level. He preferred spending his time in the comfort of his own quarters, engaging in strategy games, city builders, and agricultural simulators. Apart from his regular work hours, he spent his leisure hours playing such games or enhancing his knowledge about history, philosophy, politics, economics, and old technology.

Considering his academic achievements, having graduated at the top of his class in Economics from KAIST, he was a reasonably learned person. From a young age, he had a keen interest in economics and finance. Instead of playing with toys, he was more inclined to research and learn about their manufacturing processes and associated costs.

During his teenage years, he spent a majority of his time either online or in libraries, researching the history of the Industrial and Agricultural Revolutions, significant technological advancements, and ways to recreate them. With a photographic memory and a moderately high IQ, he was able to retain this information permanently.

In college, he continued to prioritize his studies, even taking elective courses that were not required. By the time he graduated and began his mandatory military service, he had become a walking encyclopedia of knowledge that spanned from economics to technical know-how. However, this vast knowledge did not prove to be advantageous for him during his time in the military.

Mainly Due to his choice to spend his free time in a certain way, he was always single and had no dependents who relied on him. He didn't even have a pet because he thought it would be too much of a hassle to take care of them while he was deployed and burden his relatives.

Despite being engaged in a construction project in the DMZ with no practical value, he was only a month away from completing his military service and leaving. He didn't understand why the high-ranking officials had chosen to waste taxpayers' money on this project, as it seemed like a rhetorical question to him. He was aware of the ROK Army's level of competence and was not impressed.

While he was lost in thought, he overheard a group of Non-Commissioned Officers discussing their plans to celebrate the end of their military service. Unlike him, these young men still had a shred of nationalism and did not care about the loss their country was experiencing in the DMZ. They were only focused on returning home, which was understandable.

Suddenly, a loud noise interrupted their conversation, followed by the sound of a bullet whistling through the air and heading towards Hueng Min. In that split second, he realized it was the end and his consciousness faded as the bullet entered his brain.

Aron suddenly woke up and shouted, his rough voice resonating in the large stone room. He quickly scanned his surroundings and realized that he wasn't lying on the ground with a gunshot wound in his head, as he had initially feared, but was instead resting on a massive bed with a canopy overhead. At his bedside, he saw his younger brother Arnault, who was staring at him with fear in his eyes. Despite being young, Arnault was already quite attractive, with curly brown hair and emerald green eyes that resembled the beautiful grasslands.

As his eyes fell upon the quivering lad, a sudden realization struck him with the force of a thousand bolts of lightning.

"Arnault?" he inquired, his mind racing with bewilderment. "Brother? But nay, I've never had a brother! What foul trickery is this that plays with my wits, and why does this stranger stir such uncanny thoughts within me?"

Aron scrunched his forehead in deep contemplation, sifting through his recollections, only to find a perplexing revelation. Within his mind lurked two distinct sets of memories. One belonged to the fleshly vessel he now inhabited - Aron von Fargo, scion of Marcus von Fargo and the rightful successor to the Barony of Fargo, who had just recently turned Eighteen.

The second set of memories - that of Heung Min Park, a low-ranking Private serving his compulsory military service in the Republic of Korea Army. He met his tragic end at the DMZ, succumbing to an attack from the North Korean combatants. Aron was confounded by these puzzling memories - had he been granted a new lease on life? And if so, what inscrutable forces were at work here?

Aron was about to delve deeper into his thoughts and question the strange turn of events when he was interrupted by the young boy Arnault. The boy's tears were streaming down his face, and grasped his hand with tears trickling down his stunning emerald eyes.

"Thank heavens you're alive, elder brother! I feared the worst," Arnault cried out with relief as he clutched Aron's hand tightly.

As Aron reclined in his bed, he mulled over his peculiar situation while his mind was inundated with recollections of his past life as Aron von Fargo. The world he now found himself in was an Alternate Earth, one that existed during the Late Medieval Period. He realized that his family's land was a small Barony nestled within the confines of England. Although several events throughout history were comparable to what he had known, he also noticed several stark dissimilarities.

The timeline of Antiquity remained largely unaltered, but what followed was significantly different from what Heung Min had known. In this world, the East-West Division never came to fruition within the Roman Empire, leading to a more harmonious relationship between the Eastern and Western Roman Empires. Consequently, the Imperator held even more power than in Heung Min's timeline.

As a consequence of this, the Western Roman Empire was not ravaged by the Germanic tribes, but rather, the Germans assimilated into the Roman way of life. Christianity was cherished and upheld as the State Religion by the Imperators of the Empire, which hastened its growth across the European Continent. Due to these alterations in history, the Byzantines or the Eastern Roman Empire were not regarded as heretics by the Western Empire, and the initial Crusades that occurred in Heung Min's timeline did not transpire, as Rome had a firm grip over the Holy Land but mainly because the Papacy was more centric towards the Empire.

Numerous prominent personalities from our timeline were substituted, and the Roman Empire underwent numerous transformations. For instance, in its present form, the Kingdom of Rome and its ruler held dominion over the entirety of the Roman Empire. The Kingdom of Germany was relegated to a secondary position within the Empire and was on the brink of a civil war as the different feudal powers vied for the throne, primarily because the world never witnessed the ascendancy of Charlemagne but still the present condition of Roman Empire was a Mess a Condition that could be well exploited by a person with a Right Mind

Despite the many changes in the Roman Empire, England and the rest of the British Isles, France as Francia, and the northern regions such as Nords and Kievan Rus as Russia remained beyond the Empire's grasp, defying its influence.

Primarily, the British Isles were not weakened by Viking invasions as the Norse did not attack them and also the Roman Empire failed to control Britannium. Additionally, the Norse themselves were occupied with establishing their own branch of Christianity, similar to the modern Protestantism. Kievan Rus was able to remain free due to being under the suzerainty of the Mongolian Khanate, which was successful in this timeline as well.

The alterations to the timeline were vast and plentiful, too many for Aron to tally in his mind. If he were to truly comprehend the variations in the power dynamics and structures of this world, he knew he would have to devote significant time to thorough research.

Aron, burdened by the conflicts between his two sets of memories, began to feel a throbbing ache in his head, causing him to massage his temples with his fingers. Arnault, mistaking his discomfort for sickness, hastily ceased his prayer and swiftly departed the room, his noble attire swaying in his hurried exit as he uttered only a single phrase.

"I'll go fetch the Physician!"

Upon hearing those words, Aron couldn't help but feel uneasy. He knew that in the medieval times, the treatments could sometimes do more harm than good. His throat was parched and his headache only grew worse. But Arnault had already rushed out to get the physician, leaving Aron alone with his thoughts.
