So, here I am, presenting you with TON (The Ordinary Ninja), hoping and working to not make the same mistakes again. If you are wondering why each chapter is short, that's thanks to my work! Ch 3: Inviting the Executioner

(The Ordinary Ninja: ch 3)

Theoretically, the easiest ninja art I can learn would be the art of illusion, genjutsu.

'But there is one problem.'

I don't know how to train in genjutsu.

I was a general support ninja, your typical canon fodder.

I knew the elementary level of taijutsu, kenjutsu, ninjutsu, and some survival skills.

'You'd think that being friends with two genjutsu prodigies would force me to learn some genjutsu… but it's actually the opposite!'

Because of Itachi, Shisui, and I were working together, I relied on them for genjutsu, while I was responsible for support.

'Well, more like I was responsible for cleaning up the battlefield… which is actually crucial.'

Surprisingly, against two sharingan experts, I was the best at erasing our tracks among the three of us. I have no idea how that works, but it's the reason why our team had a perfect success rate when it comes to assassination, escort, and infiltration missions.

'To our enemies, we might as well be ghosts.'

Anyway, I'm getting off topic. Since I don't know how to train my genjutsu, the next ninja art I could learn was fuinjutsu.

'But like with genjutsu, I don't know how to train fuinjutsu. And because I am a rogue ninja, finding a genjutsu or fuinjutsu teacher is unlikely.'

I could steal ninja scrolls, but that's asking for more hunter ninjas after my head, not to mention bounty hunters when my bounty inevitably bloats.

"Hmm…"

I paused in my tracks. The shadow clone concealing my trails halted too.

'Speaking of looting scrolls…'

There's one island with the ruins of a nation specializing in fuinjutsu.

Smiling to myself, I resumed my journey.

'I saw a landmark earlier. I'm in the Land of Waves.'

I was somewhere south of the Land of Fire… and my destination was to the east of the Land of Fire.

"Damn it, I have to cross half a country to get there!"

I was wrong.

I didn't have to cross half a country.

I have to go around the Land of Fire due to my wanted status, and then risk getting caught by bounty hunters as I pass through several countries!

'Shit, I should've just stayed in the village…'

I sighed when my mind wandered back to Itachi's betrayal… but if I could go back in time, I'd still follow Itachi to becoming a rogue ninja. After all, it was my last act as his friend.

"Well, with my measly 10,000 ryo bounty, only small-time bounty hunters should go after my head," I chuckled.

Right now, I was passing through the Land of Waves. The atmosphere here could be better, but the great thing is that visibility was low.

'I can hide better this way. Though, I have to be cautious of other ninjas too, because they can hide better in here like me.'

Who knows if it was luck, or if it was because I jinxed myself, but a pair of executioner's eyes were observing each and every one of my actions.

As my feet stepped on a dry leaf, I froze on instinct, not knowing that a giant broad sword silently found its way above my head.
