(The Ordinary Ninja ch10)
Foosh—several shuriken cut through the wind, tearing open the wall of a wooden hut.
As we landed, I focused my gaze at the place where the shuriken came from, but all I saw was the rustling of the bushes.
"They're attacking, do you have any plans?" I asked Akira. Truth be told, after evacuating the civilians, I didn't know what to do next.
'From my sensing abilities, there's more than a dozen ninjas surrounding us.'
I've been surrounded by a lot more ninjas in the past, but during those times, I either had an Anbu team under me or I was with Itachi, and perhaps with Shisui too if we were lucky enough to take the same mission.
'Right now, I only have a retired ninja on my side, and we can't even fully trust each other.'
I sighed. Honestly, I was tired. I've been tired since we lost Shisui, and even more so when Itachi betrayed me.
'I couldn't care less if I died today, but I'll be damned if I go down without a fight,' and with a grin, I took out eight kunai knives from my ninja pocket.
Ninja pockets are handy, especially the expensive, high quality ones which I own. The higher quality ninja pockets have a storage seal in them, meaning they can hold hundreds, if not thousands of ninja items.
Glancing at the area, it was easy to find more than eight hiding places for the enemy ninjas. With a flick of my wrist, the eight kunai knives in my hands suddenly turned into hundreds as they cut through the air.
'The basic clone technique. It's easy to use it, but not many ninjas favor it. After all, the elemental clone techniques exist.
But for people like me, the basic clone technique is perfect.
"I don't," Akira murmured and glanced at me as the kunai knives reached their target, forcing out all the hidden ninjas.
In total, there were fifteen masked ninjas.
"But it seems like you do," Akira scoffed, looking at the bloodied bush up ahead.
On the bush was a dead man wearing a white man. A kunai was buried in his eyes, neck, heart, lungs, and stomach. He tried to dodge the incoming knives earlier, but he only fell deeper into Mamoru's trap.
If only he hadn't moved, then some of the kunai knives would've missed a vital organ.
"Ha, if fighting desperately can be called a plan," I sneered watching the fourteen ninjas surround us, not caring about their fallen teammate who had eight kunai knives deep into his flesh.
By now, they were aware that Mamoru tricked them, and Mamoru was aware of that too.
'The same trick won't work twice. I need a better plan,' I thought and placed my hand on the saya behind my back.
Feeling the missing hilt of a katana, I sighed.
'Dang, I forgot that I don't have a sword anymore.'
Although he was average in nearly all aspects, one of his strongest points was his kenjutsu, seconds only to his stealth.
