Alliance of Warlocks

Inside the tent were about 40 people of different statuses. Even the guards at the entrances of the tent had quality amour that could strike awe into the hearts of the common man. These were powerful men in this tent.

Among them, a few stood out. The Elders. Carrying an air of dignity and nobility, stood in the forefront of the group.

—Bump!!

While Leon was observing the camp and its inhabitants, a massive body bumped into him, causing him to stagger backwards a little

Turning back to see who he had hit, the man frowned at the sight of Leon. He turned to Arian and spat out, "Put that thing in chains"!

He didn't know what she was thinking by bringing a lowly warlock into the war room. Just the sight of Leon pissed him off. If he wasn't so busy, he would have thrown Leon out himself.

Of course, he would have to go through Arian first. She didn't really give the man an audience, only keeping her focus on the talk from the higher ups.

"4 clan have been surrounded along kolan mountain here, our troops effectively pushed them into the same location, so we can finish them. But the unexpected has happened. The gray salamander clan, the seven feet ground mole clan and two others have formed an alliance".

In the middle of the room, a strategic analyst stood with a cane in hand explaining the situation. An alliance between these warlock clans was very rare, most of them had ancestral hate between each other and would rather die than work together. Their alliance was unprecedented.

"What's the rush? Our forces still outnumber them, plus, do you really believe that these savages can maintain an alliance? Once one side falls, they'll tuck tail and run." an elder in the crowd spoke. He had a short cane in his hand and a look of carefreeness on his face. He was confident that they could wear the Warlocks down and minimize loss of lives.

"Yes elder, this is indeed the case with the disgusting Warlocks. However, this is not what we are worried about. From the intelligence we gathered, they are currently building a passage through the mountain with the help of the ground mole clan."

"Our men are enough to block them off at this part of the mountain, but if we spread ourselves to the other side we will be annihilated, or worse some would escape. We need to act now."

The strategic analysis explained. They couldn't take them down slowly, If they didn't act at this moment they might as well let them go.

"Hmm… reasonable, but if we mobilize everyone, who's going to look after the camp?" The elder inquired. They weren't the only hunter/slaver alliance searching for Warlocks. If they left the whole place without guards, all their hard work would be stolen.

"Elder is wise. As you said before, hit one of them hard enough, the others will run. We have already started attacking the iron frog clan hard. All we need now is to mount small attacks on each side, forcing higher-ups of the clans to take action"

"Then our honorable elders will swoop in and end it. After all, we don't want to kill them all, we still need to make profits from our campaign." The strategic analyst finished with a simple smile. These words brought them great joy and happiness.

Profits!!

Apart from that, there was no other reason for them to risk their lives.

"Greed at its finest," Leon muttered. Just looking at their eyes, Leon was able to see the unsurmountable greed in them. From Leon's reading in the pagoda, he was capable of understanding a few things. This wasn't the first time something like this had happened in this world.

In a matter of fact, the warlock race had been party to one of these cleansing before, and they behaved just like the other races then. Greedy for profit, now it was their turn, and no one would pity them, it was purely business.

"Sigh" Leon could only shake his head and sigh

Meanwhile, to his side, a young man with light blue eyes that seemed to blaze like a super nova could be observed staring him down with viciousness.

The young man sat in the middle of several hunters of good status and background, but even then, he was treated like their superior. So, then, why would someone of such high status care for Leon?

Leon didn't notice this out of place scene up until the meeting reached its climax.

They had come to an agreement. Arian's group would be responsible for handling the gray salamander clan. They were to head over immediately.

"Let's go" Arian said causally while she walked past Leon and existed the tent with various memebers of the group.

Seeing this, Leon quickly followed.

Outside the tent, several horses were already saddled and ready to move out and join the attack on the warlock alliance.

"Shu shu shu" Arian grabbed the reins of the horse in front of her and soothed it down. Then she looked over at Leon.

"Chains or no chains" Arian spoke calmly, yet her eyes were filled with some worry. Leon had two choices, and whichever he chose would either make this mission easy on her or hard.

If he decided to stay in chains then by their oath, he wouldn't try to escape while she was left the camp to go on her mission.

But if he decided the other option, he would have to follow her into battle and with any given chance, he could try to escape, forcing her to abandon everything and go after him.

It was a troublesome situation.

"Hehe, I've been so bored in the camp. I think I would like to get a good stretch in"

Leon's response was simple, but it would cause Arian alot of trouble. She couldn't help but dread what kind of trouble Lance might cause her on the battlefield.
