"We open the door on three. On my count," Lucia instructed, both of them holding onto the door handle.

"One… two… three!" Lucia began the countdown, and on three, they both flung the doors open, screaming as they dashed through the rain to the building entrance.

Lucia clicked the car button to lock the doors, turning to see Rose, who looked like a drowned rat. She couldn't help but laugh. "You look awful."

"So do you," Rose retorted, laughing as well.

Both girls moved quickly, beginning to climb the stairs. "As if the day couldn't get any worse, I am forced to climb these bloody stairs," Rose complained.

"Now, now, you should be used to that by now," Lucia said, reaching out for the door as she opened it.

"Home sweet home," Rose declared, moving to the kitchen to drop off the bags. "I'm going to take a long bath," she announced, heading to her room.
