Chapter 2- Knowing the ropes I
*knock knock*
" The door is open". A voice came from inside the room. I open the door head first. The girl was arrange things, I was thinking I would be early or something but it seems like someone beat me to it.
"Come on in". She said leaving what she was doing to help me out with my luggages. "I'm Carissa by the way".
"I'm Rihanna". I came into the two bedroom, my eyes twinkled at the sight. It had a big space and a relaxing lounge. Our bed far apart and a window close to each. She placed my luggage close to my bed, I did the same and sat down on my bed. I was looking around the room still speechless at everything.
"Rihanna, what department are you in". I looked at her.
"I'm in the nursing department and you?". "Engineering department".
"Cool cool". There was an akward silence as I tried to look for what to say.
"Umm.. there's this restaurant downstairs we could check out if your up for it". Carissa said. "Yeah, sure I would like that".
We headed out to check out the place and we settled for smoothies. I then got a call from my mum and excused myself to answer the call.
"Hey mum". I said walking outside and stared at at the school entrance as students trooped in and out, some carrying their luggages and others cathing up with friends and I frowned a bit. None of my friends came to this school, no one I knew.
"So how do you like the place, are you comfortable?, do you meed anything?". She said sounding worried.
"Mom I'm fine,no need to worry. Besides I have already made a friend".
"My baby, all grown up". She sniffed. "Mom, please don't cry. I have to go but I'll keep you updated. I love you".
"I love you too baby". I ended the call and walked back into the restaurant and took my place opposite Carissa.
"That was my mom just checking up on me". I smiled awkwardly and sipped my strawberry smoothie looking out yhe window.
"Oh, that's nice". Carissa said. I looked at how everyone seemed to know one another and i though of my friends from high school and looked down.
"What's up, you look down. Did your mom say something". "No it's not like that. I was just thinking how everyone here knows someone and well I didn't know anyone from my high school here".
Carissa smiled and took a look at me. "Well I never really had friends, so your lucky to even have people to call". Carissa said and looked at her in shock, she looked liked the type that was very social and had many friends.
"I was so shy to even talk to friends in school and then everyone thought I was just weird, from there I never talked to anyone ".
I felt bad for Carissa, she looked very hurt.
"Carissa, you have me. Even if we just met and I don't really know you personally. I am willing to give a chance to start a friendship with you, I'll be the person you were lacking in your life". I held her hand and she smiled with teary eyes. We finished our smoothie and headed back to our dorm. Tomorrow was gonna start our journey in this new world and I wanted to be prepared, so I got an early shut eyes later that night.
