4 Chapter 4

Daniel's pov

"Finally!" I whispered to myself as soon as the school's lunch bell rang

School so far hasn't necessarily been terrible, just mostly awkward. For example, when I got into class, some students actually said hi to me! Some even waved and that never happens to me

Also, the teacher made me reintroduce myself to the class which, I think was a complete waste of time because I doubt anyone could hear a word of what I shyly mumbled out

I'm just glad I can finally have forty-five good minutes to myself and also eat! I'm more excited for the eating. Don't judge me, I'm a growing teen

Entering the cafeteria with my head down to avoid causing attention, I quickly went to the counter to get a tray of food, Feeling a bit anxious because it's been a while since I've been here and the memories I have of this place are not particularly nice ones

I turned around as I felt eyes on my back. It made me uncomfortable, so I decided to raise my head up for bit, just to check

As I looked up, my eyes immediately connected with Sarah's and held for a little while. I didn't want to make a complete fool of myself like I did this morning so I quickly bent my head stopping the eye contact

Walking to the farthest table from her at a corner of the cafeteria. I sat down to begin eating my lunch in peace

That was until I saw three girls stand up from the table Sarah was seated and from the corner of my eyes started walking towards my table. I didn't think anything of it because they couldn't possibly be coming to talk to me right?

"Hi Daniel!" I heard the three of them say in unison, Shocking me and making to choke a little on a piece my food and start coughing

I saw them rushing over to me and felt one of them patting me on the back but I couldn't concentrate on that whilst struggling to breathe. After a while, the food that clung to my throat went down and I could breathe just fine again

"Daniel, are you good?" One of the girls asked me

"Y-you know m-my name" I said my voice sounding a bit hoarse. I mentally slapped myself for stuttering and reaching my water to take a gulp

"Yeah, who wouldn't a cute guy's name?" Another of the three replied smiling, or rather smirking at me. Making me choke for the second time. I'm sorry, did she say cute?

"M-m-me?" I managed to say once again in a stutter

"Yeah you! I'm Favour by the way" says the first girl, stretching forth her hand for an handshake. "And that's Jessica"she said, after we shook hands, pointing at the girl that called me cute. She was still giving me a smirk but had started twirling her hair with her index finger

And I thought I was weird

"Finally, this is Angelica" pointing to the girl that had very a tight shirt on and a few top buttons were undone

"Hello" she said grabbing me hand and bending slightly for some reason

"Hi?" I replied trying to take my hand back but couldn't because she had it in a firm grip

"So Daniel, tell us why you were absent for such a long time"Jessica said running her hand from my shoulder to chest making me more uncomfortable, if that was even possible

"Well, it's personal"I said, finally withdrawing my hand from Angelica's grip and scooting away from Jessica's touch

What the heck is going on! Well, I knew what was going on, I'm not stupid but why was it going on? People usually ignore me

"Personal"they all said in sync, making me flinch

After a few minutes of them asking different questions and me avoiding them the best I could, the bell rang signalling the end of lunch break. which was a bit sad because, I hadn't eaten my food because I was uncomfortable around them but mainly because they were asking questions non-stop

But that sadness could not be compared to the joy I had from having an excuse to excape from them

"Bye, I have to go to class now" I said hurriedly picking up my tray and walking away

"Byeeee, talk to again later"they said again in unison creeping me out once again

"Okay" I replied glancing over my shoulder quickly but in my mind I said "Oh God no! Never again". Making a mental note to hide anytime I see them, I sadly returned my still full tray

Also noticing that Sarah had left the hall and I didn't get a chance to watch her from afar like I wanted to

I walked to class praying for this day to just end, and quickly!
