Chapter 10
The ritual ceremony had come to an end. All those present slowly removed the hoods from their heads and began to leave the spacious dark room, one after another.
However, one of them lingered. He waited for the others to leave so he could contemplate his next steps in silence and solitude. Dozens of chess games with possible events and his responses played out in his head.
A sharp, thin creak broke the silence. The man in the cloak snorted and approached the door. Underneath it, he spotted a tarot card lying dead centre. He was surprised; his heart fluttered. The man picked up the card and turned it over to look at the arcana.
A smile spread across his face.
