137 Snake fight

As Matthew began to spin the Hourglass and the Rings surrounding it time around him began to change. The World began to move backward in a fast manner as if someone was pressing the rewind button on the World itself. While the time turner gave off a green glow, as the damage his emotional outbreak caused to his Room fixed itself. His things flew at a fast pace back to their Original place while he spun the Time turner for the first time, for the other four spins there was no indication besides the clock on his wall that he was traveling back in time since only he could access his Trunk. Once Matthew completed the fifth Spin on the time turner everything went back to normal and the Clock once again ticked forward second for second.

"Let's see. It should be about breakfast time right now. Hmm, yes there she is in the Great Hall." Muttered Matthew as he checked his mental Map. Hermione was right there back in the Great Hall waiting for the start of the Quidditch Match. "I am also arriving with my friends right now. So our shared sleeping dorm is empty right now."

Normally he only used the Time-Turner in his Trunk or the Room of Requirements so he wouldn't disrupt the flow of time and nobody realized there are currently two Matthews wandering through the Castle. But that wasn't an option right now. He needed to move secretly without causing any change to the timeline until he could save Hermione.

"I need to make sure that I am ready for the fight." He muttered as he put his enchanted glasses back on. They would make sure he could fight the Basilisk without the need to not stare into its fights. Next, he pointed his wand onto one temple of his glasses and applied a sticking charm on it, then the same for the other side. "So that's ready. Should I put some kind of armor on? Nah, it wouldn't work against a Basilisk. I will apply some protective enchantments and hardening Charm on my clothes but that must be enough. Flexibility to dodge is more important."

Next, he filled his Pouch with Potions that could be useful for the fight. Once he completed the preparations for the Battle, he left his Trunk and stepped into his Dorm Room. First, he confirmed on his map that the Corridor in front of the Library was empty, then he opened a portal to it and arrived there.

"All is left is waiting." He muttered as he applied a disillusionment Charm on himself and focused his attention on his map that monitored the whole Castle. After a while, Hermione parted from he friends and headed toward the Library Tower. Ginny secretly followed her out of the Great Hall but instead headed for the second floor where Myrtle's Bathroom was located and the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets. Once she entered the entrance she vanished from the Map, since the Wards didn't reach into the Chamber.

While Matthew waited there monitoring the Castle, Hermione passed him and entered the Library without noticing the invisible guardian. A few minutes later Penelope Clearwater the Ravenclaw Prefect also entered the Library. Matthew stood outside and guarded the Door mentally preparing for the battle.

[Beep! Ginny Weasley once again appeared on the map. Somewhere in the sixth floor Corridor is another entrance to the Chamber of Secrets located.]

'I see that is good to know.'

Matthew entered quickly the Library and spotted Hermione and Penelope both sharing the same table. They raised their heads and saw him as he opened the door to the Library.

"Matthew! I know what Slytherin's Monster is. We need to inform the Professors." Began Hermione to tell him as he arrived at the Table.

"Yes, I know a Basilisk. That's why only Harry heard it. It doesn't matter Dumbledore probably already knew for over 50 Years. But without being able to enter the Chambers of Secrets he couldn't do anything about it. But we are in danger right now. The Basilisk is controlled by Ginny, who is possessed by the Diary and heading in this direction. No matter what you two hear stay inside the Library. I will handle it." He quickly explained.

"WHAT!?" both of them shouted.

"I can't let you handle it alone Matthew! I am a Prefect!" said Penelope.

"Thank you for your concern, Penelope, but there is nothing you can do. I am prepared for it and more powerful than you. You would die. Stay here and protect Hermione." Requested Matthew with a small smile as he stepped outside and magically sealed the Door.

"Matthew wait!" was the last thing he heard before he closed the door.

"So are you here to kill us Ginny?" he asked as he knew she was already standing at the end of the Corridor.

"My target was the Mudblood with long teeth but two more Mudblood Death is even better." Replied a male voice through Ginny.

"The only one dying today is you, Tom." Answered Matthew as he stared at the Redhead who wore a hateful face completely unlike Ginny and had a snake behind her.

"Smart. Avoiding its Eyes but that won't help you." Replied Ginny with the deep Voice, §Kill him!§

§Let me rip you... Let me tear you... Let me kill you. Kill!§

§Stop!§ Ordered Matthew in Parseltongue.

§You speak the Royal Tongue? But you don't smell like Master. Die!§ Answered the Basilisk as it stopped for a moment before it continued to attack.

"You worthless Mudblood stole the Magic of your betters! Die you worthless animal." Ranted Ginny possessed by Tom.

'Well, it was worth a try.' He thought as he began to attack the giant snake. It was over 60 feet long and dark green in color. First Matthew conjured long and sharp Metal Spikes and accelerated them against the Snake. His glasses were working against the yellow eyes and its Death gaze. But they began to grow hot.

"How are you resisting its gaze? You should be dead-" shouted Riddle as he took Ginny's wand into his hands to join the battle.

Matthew quickly threw an explosion charm at him to startle him, before disarming him. It worked since Riddle in his Arrogance wasn't prepared to face Matthew seriously since in his mind a Muggleborn Hogwarts student was far beneath him in skill. Next, he got hit by an overpowered Stunner from Matthew that took him out hard, since he couldn't defend himself without his wand in his hands.

Meanwhile, the gigantic Snake was about to bite down on Matthew who was temporarily distracted by Riddle's interference. He quickly rolled to the side dodging the Deathly bite of the Basilisk who instead bit down onto the floor. Matthew quickly transfigured a statue standing in the Corridor into a Rooster who began to cry instantly.

The Basilisk began to Roar clearly in pain, the cry showed an effect but it didn't kill it. For that, he would probably need a real one. But the cry was strong enough for it to open its mouth during the Roar where Matthew placed a volley of dark cutting curses aiming for its brain. The Curses cut into the Head of the big Snake from the inside where it wasn't protected by the magic resistant scales and hit its target.

With its brain turned to mush the 60 feet long body fell onto the Floor not moving anymore.

"I did it!" cheered Matthew as he leaned exhausted against the Wall of the Corridor. Ginny was still laying knocked out on the floor with the Black Diary beside her. Just as Matthew wanted to collect the Diary, something else happened.

A transparent white rectangle with a yellowish tint appeared in the air of the Corridor. Completely Shocked Matthew quickly jumped backward to gain some distance from it.

"What is happening now?"
