*June 1990*

"Here you go Professor Flitwick, have a nice day" Sebastian said to him as he handed a book to the short professor.

"Thank you Mr. Granger and enjoy your vacation" he replied.

Today, Sebastian found himself returning a book that Professor Flitwick had lent him when he came for a consultation. He had an excellent relationship with the head of house. The other teachers also had a good impression of Sebastian; in their eyes, he was a quiet and studious young man.

Lately Sebastian had been researching magical history and rituals. Rituals in this world seemed to be divided into two parts: dark rituals and the normal rituals. The normal rituals were a matter of following a series of steps that were used to by using the magical energy of the world or a different dimension to do magic that you could not normally do with the conventional power of magicians. While the dark rituals were similar, the major difference was the need to present a sacrifice, either of a life or various materials.

The difference was that if normal rituals failed there would not be a big problem, at most you might see a case of uncontrollable magic and some injuries; but if a dark ritual failed it was more problematic, usually rituals that require sacrifices are to contact some entity or dimensional consciousness, so they were similar to a transaction and if this fails you can lose something more than just a sacrifice.

Rituals were not taught at Hogwarts and were only done by pureblood families, but even they only do the most basic rituals. Following all the steps and conditions to perform a ritual is difficult, and if you don't have a complete knowledge it can be difficult to perform a complete ritual. Much of the ritual magic has been lost but this was no problem for Sebastian.

He had decided that next school year he would perform a ritual, albeit a simple one.

*Summer 1990

The summer of 1990 passed without much trouble for Sebastian, he spent his time training his body or perfecting his knowledge for the ritual he planned to perform.

Another thing he was studying was the creation of a new wand, but he wanted a magic ring that would go more unnoticed than a wand of a few inches. He wanted something similar to the movie The Sorcerer's Apprentice, a ring that serves as a magical focus.

The wand was primarily a tool used to release the magical power contained within the wizard, so what Sebastian wanted was to do the same thing but with a ring. It was not a difficult problem and they also existed in the magical world, but in Europe they were not widely used. The main difference was that the ring needed a greater mental power to be used, since with it you could not make movements to accompany the spell.

The problem he faced was getting the materials, they were not rare materials but somewhat expensive, and the Muggle money that could be exchanged for galleon was limited.

"Looks like I can only look for money and materials in the RoR" says Sebastian.

Another thing Sebastian had been deliberating was when to go to kamar-taj, he wanted to go study there and really coveted the library with knowledge and all the magical artifacts stored there. As for Ancient One looking for trouble with him as a person from another world Sebastian wasn't worried, if Ancient One wanted him he could have dealt with him a long time ago. Besides going to kamar-taj was something he had decided to do from the beginning and it was impossible for her not to know about it, as the supreme sorcerer and owner of the time stone there was nothing in this world that could escape her eyes.

*September 1990

Classes had begun again, and Hogwarts school had regained its vitality. In the different corridors of the school, students could be seen walking and chatting, happy to see their friends again.

Among the corridors Sebastian and his group passed by, they were now all third year students and had been 13 years old. Among their group Sebastian was the tallest and in the best shape, something that was becoming more evident lately... this had left Sebastian a bit helpless and he wanted to concentrate more on his studies.

"So that's what happened during the vacations" said Thaddeus as he finished recounting his summer with his family, they had gone on a trip to Germany.

"My parents have weighed in on going to France for vacation, but I think it will be in a few years" Sebastian commented to him as he remembered Hermione had gone in the original plot.

"I've never been out of the country for vacation" explained Jasper.

The three of them continued down the hallway as they chatted.

Today they had astronomy classes in the evening and they were on their way to get there early. The astronomy subject was held in one of the Hogwarts towers, and Professor Aurora Sinistra was in charge of teaching the classes.

"Where's Lyra?" asked Jasper after noticing that one member of the usual group was missing.

"I think she's with her friends," Thaddeus told him.

"Do you miss her that much?" continued Sebastian looking at him with a smile.

"What, that's not it" Jasper quickly protested.

Sebastian couldn't help but sigh... Jasper seemed to have developed a special feeling for Lyra, Sebastian just hoped that everything would end well.

When they arrived at the astronomy tower there were already some students. A curious thing is that the wizards know about the existence of off-planet life, but there are no records of attempts to go to them or look for a way to leave planet earth. Sebastian guessed that wizards do not worry much about things like alien invasions.

The astronomy class was not of much use to most mages, the most use it has is for ritual magic or divination. But for the general wizard, it was pretty useless and pointless.

Sebastian had already planned to perform his ritual during the Christmas vacations and in the RoR.
