"Young lady, can we really trust this kid?" The guard spoke his concern to Nulla. It was a given since the power the kid displayed wasn't ordinary and something that no simple man could achieve without support from a House.

He was concerned that this man was a spy from another House or someone with ulterior motives.

"It's okay, I've already assessed him and I know for a fact that he's someone who isn't an enemy." Nulla replied as she boarded the carriage. Noah was already inside, coincidentally, they were going to the same city — the city of trade. Naturally, as their savior, they let him hitch a hike.

The guard only nodded. He trusted the young lady, she was famed not only because she was a genuise in business but also because of her great decision-making skills and her eye for people.

If she said to trust him then she must have her own reasons. And even if Noah really wanted to do something, they wouldn't even be able to do anything against him. He was just above-average in terms of fighting capabilities compared to the other guards, moreover he was wounded, although he had drank a healing potion, he wasn't fully recovered.

"We will reach an hour or two in the city." The guard said as he boarded the driving seat where the reigns of the horses was.

"Once all things are settled, you will be handsomely rewarded." Nulla said, her voice filled with sincerity.

With a nod, Nulla entered the carriage as the horse started kicking their hooves. They began their move towards the city of Halleon.

Inside the carriage....

"My name is Nulla Venis, from the noble Venis House. In behalf of our house, we would like to offer our thanks to you...sir?" Nulla introduced herself and once again, offered her thanks to the young man infront of her.

"Noah, you can call me Noah." He replied back.

Nulla nodded, "Thank you sir Noah."

"If you don't mind me asking, are you perhaps affiliated to any Noble houses or some organizations?" Nulla asked, she hoped not. She wanted to recruit the young man that was full of potential on their side. Their house currently lacked and was in dire need of manpower. If they had such a talent in their ranks, it would help their situation even if only a little bit.

It would also help her in the way that she would gain an ally once she arrived in the city of trade — a place where intelligence, status, and strength ruled — which the latter she lacked

Internally, Nulla was bitting her nails as she waited for Noah to answer but kept a poker face externally.

"No..." Noah shook his head and replied honestly.

The word Noble and House had been bugging Noah for a while now. He couldn't quite exactly find the meaning of those words but from what he could tell, it seems there was a distinct class that separated the people of this world.

Nulla's heart skipped a beat.

She breathed out a sigh.

"We...our house is having a really difficult time. And with what happened today...I believe we are being deliberately targeted by another Noble house. If...if sir Noah decides to work with us then we will do everything we can to pay you back generously. And also, sir Noah...you have already thwarted a plan of theirs so..."

Nulla immediately shut her mouth.

"Are you...threatening me?" Noah spat out coldly.

She was technically saying that since he had already gotten in the way of the opposing house's plans, he would also be branded as their enemy, thus it would be better if he worked with them.

Nulla immediately became agitated as her face broke into a cold sweat.

"No..no, it's just...to be honest we are very desperate at the moment. I-im the daughter of the Head of the house Venis and I have enough authority to bestow you magical items, gold, mana stones — anything you want as long as it's in our reach if you just work for us." Nulla shook her head vigorously. Her voice carried within them desperation, what she said came from the bottom of her heart.

"However that is only in the case that your House actually survives."

Nulla bit her lips. What he said was true. She would only be able to repay him if they were able to rise back up from the rubles.

Currently right now, they couldn't give resources to anyone — much less to a complete outsider because of their predicament. Their resources were already thinning out and even right now, they were auctioning some of the most precious relics their House had just so they could maintain their status.

"Why should I needlessly place myself in danger by getting myself further into this conflict when it isn't even certain that I will be rewarded and most of all, not any of my concern at all." Noah's words were irrefutable, he was right after all.

Even Nulla would agree with him is she was in his shoes, why should he needlessly place himself in more danger when there was no need to.

It was they who needed help, not him.

Nulla bit her lips.

"If...if I give you something worthwhile right now, will you swear that you will work with us?" Nulla said, her brows slightly furrowed, even she couldn't keep up with her poker face anymore.

She had to offer him something that would entice him so he would be on their side. Aside from the fact that she needed someone strong beside her when she would auction the items for protection, there was something else telling her that she had to form a good relationship with this man.

She felt compelled but didn't know why. It was like an itch she couldn't quite scratch.

Some force was telling her that this man would prove to be a very beneficial partner right now and probably the future.

"That depends...what is it?"
