1 Chapter 1: The Beginning
JAKE POV
"Jake, wait up man".
I turn to face my friend Hughie as he's trailing behind the group.
"You have to move faster," I reply.
"Oh give me a break, it's not my fault. I can't make long strides like you guys." he exclaimed
"Really, then why is Katie keeping up with the rest of the group while you're stuck back here?" I asked, "she's even shorter than you are, so she should be struggling the most according to your logic."
"You know I'm shy around them Jake, that isn't fair," he replied.
"alright alright shy boy, come on hurry up so we don't get left behind." I said.
My name is Jake, the short guy behind me is Hughie. We're with our friends on a hike in the woods. Why? You might ask, because we are all avoiding a big test at school. The big guy with black hair in front of me is Daniel. He's smart and could have easily done the test, but he'd rather hang out with his friends. The short blond haired girl who keeps looking back at us is Katie. I'm pretty sure she has a huge crush on Hughie that would be interesting. The guy who's trying to look tough even though he's 5'10 at best and a red head is Adam. His heart is in the right place though.
"Hey guys, I found something!" Will shouted.
Will is a weird guy I dont have a handle on him. He likes being with the group but hes not really with the group. It's a weird thing, but I know deep down he's just a complicated guy.
"What is it?" I reply.
"Looks like some old abandoned cabin," he said. "Let's go check it out."
"Wait, are you sure it looks dangerous?" Katie asked.
"I'm sure it will be fine you're just a scaredy cat." He replied.
"We can just check it out and if it looks dangerous we can leave." Daniel said.
As we walk towards the old cabin it looks at least a hundred years old and is so worn down it looks like it's falling apart.
"It does look a little dangerous guys," I said.
"Oh come on dont be such a baby Jake, you're acting just like Katie now." Adam replied
"Alright, go on, then tough guy lead the way," I replied.
As he walks to open the door it falls off its hinges the second he touches it making a loud noise.
"Ah!" Katie screamed.
"It's just old, it's fine," he said.
He said it to calm us down but it looked like he was trying to calm himself down the most.
As we walk into the cabin us being the teenagers, we are started exploring and seeing what this cabin had to offer. There were 3 rooms and a basement, but the cabin was empty.
"Wow this place sucks, it's just an old wreck." I said.
"What about the basement?" Adam asked.
"We shouldn't go down there the cabin is too unstable it could collapse on us." Daniel replied.
"I agree" I said.
"Wheres your sense of adventure at guys? What about you Katie?" Adam asked. "I don't even know why I'm asking you what about you Hughie."
"I don't know it sounds risky Adam," He replied.
"Fine, I'll go by myself." He pouted.
"Wait, I'll go with you," I said.
"My man." He replied happy.
I follow his lead down the stairs and the basement seems empty except for a box in a corner.
"Yo Adam, check it out a box is in the corner." I said
"Good catch, let's see if we can find something after all." He replied
He rummages through the box and finds a glass ball.
"What? This is it?" he asked.
"Come on this was a waste of time lets get out of here." I said.
We go back up the way we came and find the group and let them know what happened and leave
"It's a shame this old broken down place didn't have any secrets." Adam Said throwing and catching the glass ball
"Maybe the ball is worth something." Daniel replied.
"It could be-" Adam falls dropping the glass ball it shatters against the grass on impact leaving shard scattered everywhere
"Be careful guys." I warn
suddenly a smoke surrounds me and im engulfed in darkness
"HELP!" I yell
its useless I feel my consious fade all I could think about was if it everyone else was safe they were all I had in this miserable world.
"Jake!"
"Jake! wake up!"
I toss and open my eyes to find myself in a jungle like place surrounded by my friends.
"What is this? What Happened?" I asked.
"We aren't sure ourselves we woke up here not too long ago as well." Hughie replied.
"GREETINGS SURVIVERS." A voice appeared.
"What was that?!" Adam shouted.
"WELCOME TO SOL THE WORLD OF MAGIC." it replied.
"Sol?" Daniel asked.
"SOL IS THE WORLD YOU HAVE BEEN TRANSPORTED TOO EACH OF YOU HAVE BEEN AWAKENED WITH A RANDOM ELEMENT." It continued.
"Wait how do we go home" Katie exclaimed.
"THERE IS NO WAY TO GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM USE YOUR NEWFOUND POWER AND SURVIVE" It stated.
I turn and see Hughie and Adam freaking out and Will nowhere to be seen. Daniel seems to be fine and Katie is crouched in a corner.
"Survive what? What powers are you talking about?" I asked
"IN THIS WORLD YOU WILL FACE MANY CHALLENGES OVERCOME THEM AND GROW FROM THEM THIS IS THE END OF THE TUTURIAL GOOD LUCK."
Just like that the mysterious voice vanished leaving us just as confused as we were before it arrived.
"Guys tap your wrist." Daniel exclaimed.
I tap my wrist and a window pops up.
"PROFILE - JAKE LEVEL 1"
"POWER - LIGHTNING MANIPULATION"
"STATS - 539 HP 421 MA - 2 STR 1 DEF 3 AGI 4 MAP"
"What is this?" I ask
"It's like a game." Daniel replied "These are your stats and your special power it looks like you can manipulate lightning look at my stats."
"PROFILE - DANIEL LEVEL 1"
"POWER - EARTH MANIPULATION"
"STATS - 702 HP 231 MA - 2 STR 4 DEF 1 AGI 3 MAP"
"Our stats are different." I notice.
"It probably has something to do with our unique powers." He replied "Guys stop freaking out and come here lets show each other our profiles."
"Will is missing." I alert Daniel
"Wait has he been missing this whole time?" He asked "I haven't noticed because he's usually doing his own thing."
"Its dangerous here we have no idea where we are or what we're doing here." I said "we should look for him."
"Your right lets figure out what we've been given first." He replied
Adam finally gets it together and walks over.
"I'll go first." He said

"POWER - ICE MANIPULATION"
"STATS - 698 HP 255 MA - 1 STR 5 DEF 1 AGI 3 MAP"
"Wait all I got was ice manipulation that sounds so lame" He said
"Look at your defense though you have the highest defense here." I replied
"I guess that's true Katie come on get it over with so we can go find Will."
"Guys how can you be so calm right now we just got taken to this strange place and the weird voice said there is no way home!" Katie cried "What about our family or our lives."
"It's ok we're going to find a way out of this" I assured her
She walks over and taps her wrist while shes doing that I becken Hughie to come over as well these two shouldn't be alone.

"POWER - WIND MANIPULATION"
"STATS 320 HP 650 MA - 2 STR 1 DEF 5 AGI 2 MAP"
"PROFILE HUGHIE LEVEL 1"
"POWER - WATER MANIPULATION"
"STATS 359 HP 532 MA - 1 STR 0 DEF 2 AGI 7 MAP"
"Interesting it looks like we can all manipulate an element of magic but how does it work?" I said
"TO USE YOUR ABILITY YOU NEED A SOURCE TO MANIPULATE"
"Hmmm so if i want the ground to rupture I can just picture it?" Daniel asked.
He seemed like the one who understood this new world the most so we all waited to see what the first use of power would look like. The ground started rumbling and suddenly a chunk of land started rising. Daniel was controlling a piece of nearby dirt with his hand when suddenly it fell
"DANGER MANA LOW!"
"PROFILE DANIEL"
"STATS 100 MA REMAINING"
I looked at daniel and it looked he just ran a marathon the way he was gasping.
"MANA IS LIKE ENERGY THE MORE YOU USE THE MORE EXHAUSTED YOU GET UNTIL EVENTUALLY YOU PASS OUT"
"Well that would have been useful to know before I did that." gasped Daniel.
"Are you ok Daniel?" Katied asked
"Im fine I just feel exhausted" He replied
"How am I supposed to find lightning to manipulate" I asked.
"pretend like one of the clouds above us is a lightning cloud." Daniel replied "The Key to manipulation is your imagination"
"I guess I got lucky having such an easy thing to manipulate." Katie said.
"Try doing something." I asked wanting to understand further
She looked at Hughie and saw how down he was
"Alright I'll see what i can do." she replied
As she focused the winds started blowing around us and in the sky and in the air we could see letters made out of wind being written. It spelled C H E E R U P W E C A N D O T H I S. Hughie saw this and he started to become calm and I was greatful.
"Hughie lets see what you can do." She asked nervously.
For the first time since we got here he smiled and said "Ok" Hughie held his hand together and when he opened it a small flower made out of water was created and frozen into place. He gave it to her and whispered something in her ear. Whatever it was she started blushing. Adam was freezing parts of a nearby lake.
"Alright guys we understand our situation a little bit more and Will is still missing so we need to go look for him." I said
"Aren't you going to practice using your power?" Daniel asked
"I'll figure it out, don't worry Will is more important." I replied.
As we began walking to the nearest path an alert popped up.
"50 GOBLINS IN THE AREA ALL LEVEL 1"
As we processed this information we were under attack
"Guys! Group up!" I yelled
It was no use we were surrounded by goblins with daggers they eyed us up and down like hunters before committing to finishing off their prey. They growled at us their dark eyes void of human intelligence.
"Guys, my mana is still recovering I can't do anything," cried Daniel.
Katie was shivering and crying, hiding behind Hughie who was just as scared. I look over and see Adam holding his ground so I decided it was up to me and Adam to fend them off.
"Adam!" I yelled, "We need to do something I need you to buy time. Can you do that?"
"I think so!" He replied.
He proceeded to freeze the water in the air to create a shield of ice to hold them back. The goblins took this as a threat and launched their attack. They started slicing at the wall of ice but it proved durable but unstable.
"Hurry I don't know how much longer I can hold them back!" He urged.
"Katie listen to me. I need your help. I can summon a lightning storm but I need you to bring a group of clouds over us." I said "Can you do that?"
"Uh- I think- I think I can-" Katie muttered
"Ok, good, do it quickly."
As she strained herself pulling clouds on the ice was getting chipped down more and more. The limited water available was holding it back but the only way to get more water was one person.
"Hughie listen to me buddy. I know it's scary, but we need you to bring more water here for Adam to freeze before we get overrun." I said
"I don't know if i can do it Jake!" Hughie Cried
"Nonsense man look at us we are doing this you can do this."
"I'll try my best," he replied with a smile on his face
"That's all you need to do," I replied.
Hughie brought water to every crack in the ice shield so Adam could refreeze it over and while this went on the clouds were ready.
"Alright Daniel I know you're tired but I need you to cover us in a rock shield so that we dont get hit in the crossfire of the lightning."
"I can do it alright guys, get together, it's time!" Daniel shouted.
"Wait what about you Jake?" Hughie asked.
"Don't worry I'll be fine if my hunch is right. I think we are immune to the damage caused by our element if we truly have that much control over them go now!" I replied
I gave them one last look as I prepared the lightning storm I have no way of knowing if this will kill me or not but I had to do it. If it meant saving them I would do it. Lightning started to fill the sky as it crackled and changed the color of the sky. Suddenly I felt something as blood ran down my left leg I've been stabbed the goblins are almost in. I feel lightheaded and I keep seeing black but I wasn't going down without a fight. I unleashed everything I had into that attack as the sky roared and goblins cried.
"BOOM"
Lightning bolts filled the area reducing everything in it to ashes
"BOOM"
Goblins cried as they tried to get away but it was too late. They were already caught in the storm and I wasn't letting go.
"BOOM"
My vision was all dark and I couldn't see anything but I know the job was done so I can rest easy. If it was for my friends I would do anything so this sacrifice was nothing.
