Ch 17

It was during lunch when everyone was eating in the cafeteria, Areth stood up and excused himself.

He went to the cubicle and closed the door.

Just a while ago, he sensed a disturbance in the flow of mana. A type of mana that was impure and filled with sense of evil was dispersed in the air.

The range of his senses nearly encompasses the continent. This abnormality might be imperceivable to some, but it was like someone dropped an ink into a clear cup of clear water.

"A demon huh, so they have finally located a rift leading to this planet."

Areth was not worried, as this was something inevitable. Sooner or later, demons would invade Earth.

He opened the faucet and cast his vision somewhere far.

At this time, the demon who have transformed into a young man was being led out of the forest by the guild members of Ruby, with Jack leading the front.

Suddenly, the demon stopped. Its eyes scanned the surrounding and spoke. "Reveal yourself!"

Jack became vigilant and drew out his sword after hearing the demon.

"We're being followed?"

He had spread out his subordinates across the entire forest, leaving no blind spot.

The demon was confused, it felt a sharp gaze settle on itself, but it couldn't pinpoint where. It spread out his senses to cover the entire forest, all it found were ordinary humans sent to clear the forest, some wild animals and noisy insects.

The demon suddenly felt a terrible premonition of death. All its hair stood up, it's muscles tightened and was prepared for any attacks. Jack and his companions also felt the sudden unease. His instinct was screaming at him to away from this place.

Without a warning, the group was bathed in brilliant red light. Instantly, everyone in the blinding light howled in pain, begging for help. The commotion alarmed the sentries around the forest.

Their skins and flesh boiled. It took but a moment until their screams stopped. What was left was their dried bones.

The demon's body was evidently more resilient than humans, it revealed its true from to resist the attack, roaring loudly. It's skin fell, the blood inside boiled and evaporated. When the red light fades, everything was covered in horrible heat haze. The trees around them were burnt to ashes long ago, and the ground was melting.

The demon stood in the middle of this, it's large body shrank and only tiny bits of flesh clung to its bones.

It stood there silently, rage oozing out from its eyes.

The burns began to disappear, flesh and skins grew rapidly as though time was being reminded back. Taking the same duration, it's body recovered to health, as good as new. Even its human disguise was reverted back.

Areth finished washing his hand. He closed the faucet and a curl formed in his lips.

"A time related ability, quite decent."

The voice was heard by the demon. It looked up and found a giant eyeball on the sky looking at itself. The the iris was formed by raging flames, the vertical pupil was like the void.

The demon was horrified. When did this eye appear? It was as large as an entire city, dyeing the entire sky with blazing color.

The strange sight only lasted for a moment. Everything returned to normal, the sky was still clear and there were no signs of the large eye anywhere.

The demon was confounded. Suddenly, it felt a hand grabbing the back of its head, before he could react, the scenery changed. Right in front of him was the rift he came out of.

The demon felt a strong force from the hand, shoving him forward and he was thrown back inside. The scenery inside the rift was very bleak. There were signs of destruction everywhere and the sky was gray.

The demon turned around and furiously attempt to enter the Earth again. However, a sword of light greeted him from the other side, stabbing rift through the center of his face.

The demon could not comprehend what was happening. From the beginning up until now, he wasn't even able to see the shadow of his attacker.

Unfortunately, he wasn't given a chance to ponder about it. A lightning ray emerged from the rift and pierced his heart. It was a fatal blow, but demons have two heart, and they can even do without.

Areth entered the rift and his eyes locked on the wounded demon, as well as the army of demons watching the fight from afar.

The events that happened left them confused. They saw their general enter the rift, and then they saw him return quickly. After that, their general attempted to return again, only to receive two lethal attacks.

When they saw Areth step out of the rift, they finally understood the situation.

Areth blasted the regenerating demon general towards his mobs. He withdrew to the rift without looking back.

The area was suddenly filled with lightning sparks. All of the sudden, the were engulfed in a deafening explosion that drowned the demons' desperate screams. The radiance shone for several miles before fading.

Areth felt the tremendous shockwave escaping from the rift. He covered himself with multiple layers of barrier before entering, it was a scene of hell.

Areth had seen mountains nearby, but now they were gone. No survivors could be found anywhere he looked, the heat was still raging on, and the land which he stood upon was magma.

Areth put his attention to the dying skeleton. Even a demon general, famed for his immortality and powerful gift, barely survived. It was trying to revert to its past, but it was helpless. In the end, it collapsed to the ground.
