Chapter 60: Dream

A ringing phone woke me from my deep and peaceful slumber.

I don't know when I last had such a peaceful sleep. I felt like I wanted to destroy the cellphone that awoke me from it.

I tried to sit up and caught myself just before I gasped in shock.

I have been sleeping in Nick's arms the whole night - or rather - what was left of it.

I smiled fondly at him. His hair was ruffled and messy, his face peaceful like a sleeping baby.

At my movement to check whose phone it was that was ringing, he groaned in his sleep, pulling me closer to him.

"Nick," I whispered softly in his ear. "You should answer your phone, it might be important."

His eyes slowly opened and he smiled sweetly when he saw my face. "Hey, beautiful."

I blushed. "Good morning."

He pulled me to his chest, ignoring his phone. 

He rested his cheek against the top of my head, and I could hear his steady heartbeat beneath my ear.
