Chapter 2- Hair like Rapunzel

Kiara Zenith

I don't know what to do. She was here standing beside me just a minute ago and now she's gone. And I don't know where. We were watching the babies through the glass window when suddenly someone came running followed by a stretcher and at that moment I didn't realize I wasn't holding her hand anymore and that I lost her. My god. I frantically run down the hall and search every room, getting yelled at in the process but I still cannot find her.

Not knowing what to do I call my uncle. He picks up after a ring.

"Ki-" "I can't find her anywhere. I can't find Belle anywhere." I rush it out in one breath.

"What? Where are you?"

"In the baby wing, I think. Where they keep all the babies. Please hurry. I don't know what to do."

"Don't worry she'll be there somewhere. She will not be able to walk out of the hospital alone. Just keep looking I am coming alright." He is telling me not to worry but I can hear it in his voice.

I just hope we find her soon and then we can go back home. Hospitals have always been a scary place for me. This incident just solidifies it more. After calming my breath a few times I start looking for her again.

Aiden Wolf

It's a lovely morning outside. The sky is clear, the sun is shining brightly and what makes it even better is the fact that I do something that I love or I love what I do.

Kids. I am a paediatrician. I've been one for a couple of years then I changed my workplace and now I work in this very nice paying hospital. I'd be lying if I said that money wasn't one of the factors in helping me decide. It was one but the major factor was that the hospital is great at providing service and facilities. It wasn't long ago when it opened. I read somewhere that it was the fastest growing hospital in the city and it already secured its place in the Top Best Five Hospitals in the city.

When I had gotten the chance for working here, I didn't need to think twice about it. It's dream come true.

Once I reach the hospital, I park my baby- Chevrolet Impala 67. I know. Beautiful- and make my way inside the hospital.

The cool air hits my face once I step inside making me shiver. I quickly sign myself up and start walking toward my office. I love the location of my office. It's close to the nursery so I spend half of my free time watching the babies. Sounds creepy but it's literal therapy. But when I reach there I see two girls already looking through the glass so I ignore it for now and enter my office, which is just two doors down from the nursery.

I freed my hair from the hair tie and rake my fingers through it. I love my hair. It is the only good thing I got from my parents besides my sister. I was just checking through my appointments for today when I suddenly heard a loud yelp and I jumped up in my seat. I was so busy caressing my hair that I didn't notice a toddler has made her way into my office but god is she beautiful.

Her brown hair cascades down her back like a beautiful waterfall. For a toddler, she sure has some seriously long hair. Her eyes are big and amber in colour and are washed with a wave of tears. Her little frock gives her a Disney princess vibe.

But who is she?

I don't have any appointments for another hour or so and I don't see her parents anywhere either. Is she lost? But I don't get up from my seat. Because if she is lost she will be more scared of some stranger approaching her.

"Hello, there little one!" My voice is the sweetest it has ever been, but she doesn't say react and just stands there. "Do you want chocolate?"

"No Kiki says we no take choc'late from strangers."

"Well, Kiki is right. You should not take chocolate from strangers. Do you want to tell me who Kiki is?"

"My sister." It's always nice to know that parents try to teach their kids these small things.

"Are you here with your sister, little one?"

"Yes. Kiki, Johnny and my uncle."

"Wow! So many people." I widen my eyes and cover my mouth with my hands in fake surprise. "I want to see them. Do you know where they are?"

She giggles, making her hair bounce and fall on her beautiful eyes. She wipes them away rather aggressively and shrugs. "I dunno. Johnny and uncle gots to work an' I and Kiki see babies." She says cutely and her face fills with joy at the mention of babies. One stray curl again falls on her face she tries to blow it away, failing cutely. That can't be good for her eyes. She has done that multiple times in the past minutes I have known her.

"Well, how about we go find them? But first, let's tie your hair, shall we?" I ask with enthusiasm hoping she'll agree to my request.

"No tie. It ouchie."

I again wrap my hair in a bun but instead of using a normal hair tie, I use a furry one. "See I tied my hair too. It does not hurt and I look pretty too. See?" I twirl in my swivel chair and gauge her reaction. She seems to be contemplating whether to tie her hair or not. But I know just the trick that will make her agree.

"Do you know Rapunzel? "

"She a princess. "

"Yes, and she has magical hair like you."

"Magical hair like me?" She tilts her head to the side in confusion. How cute.

"Yes, but do you know to keep the magic in her hair for a long time she needs to tie them or else it will go away."

She appears to be in shock and her mouth opens a little. "But you know I can save the magic in your hair if you let me tie it." The second those words leave my mouth she nods rapidly.

"Ok, so come here and I will braid it in a pretty ponytail." She moves toward my desk and I pick her up and position her gently on it. I pull out a clean kid's comb from my drawer and start to gently detangle her hair. It's very soft and smooth and in no time I am using my master skills to braid her Rapunzel-like hair and very gently secure the end with a velvet hair tie so it doesn't tug at her hair.

"Can I put flowers on it to make it more pretty?" She nodded her head in agreement and I put a couple of flowers here and there and looked at her in fascination when I finished. She is looking even more beautiful than earlier.

"Looking beautiful Princess Rapunzel!" I dramatically bow in front of her and she giggles.

"I no Rapunzel. My name is Belle."

"Such a beautiful name Belle just like you. Nice to meet you. I am Dr Aiden Wolf."

"Woof woof."

"Wolf silly girl, not a dog." I chuckle in amusement and she just giggles. "Not let's go and find your sister." I watch as she tries to hop off my table but I grab her before she can pull her little stunt and put her down. We exit my office and start walking towards the nursery where I see two men and the girl from before talking frantically and worriedly. I lift Belle and place her on my hip.

"Belle, is she your sister and your uncle?" I ask her pointing in the direction of the commotion by the nursery. She glances in that direction and then lets out a high-pitched "Kiki."

All three heads turn in our direction and they start running toward us. I put Belle down knowing she will run to her sister in one straight line. Who I am assuming to be her uncle picks her up and hugs her tightly, kissing her head in the process. After a few more moments of the reunion, they turn their attention to me and I freeze.

Cause holy shit that is one hell of a gorgeous-looking uncle.
