"Let me go!" Emma trembled. "Believe me, love, you wouldn't want that," he smirked. "Xavier, you shouldn't doubt my resolve. Don't test me," she warned. Xavier chuckled softly. "Nowhere am I mistaken about you, baby. I know very well what you are capable of. But you still have to cooperate with me. And you know that too." Before Emma could respond, their lips met a fierce collision of desperation and defiance, sealing their fates in a kiss that tasted of tears and unspoken fears. ---- Hiding herself every day, she believed everything would eventually return to normal. Do not make me repeat!

Carrying Emma's transfer document, Xavier exited the administrative block. The exchange of documents had disrupted many of his plans for the day, as well as those of his friends trying to enroll on time. Originally intending to take a different approach, he now resolved to use his connections to facilitate their admission.

Xavier wasn't angry about the situation; it was a clear mistake, and he understood that. Taking out his cellphone, he checked Emma's document for her personal number. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn't resort to this method, but he was in a hurry and needed the documents promptly. Finding her number, he made the call.

"Hello?" Emma's voice answered on the other end.

Upon hearing her voice, Xavier felt a strange pull at his heart. He couldn't shake the memory of how her friend had abruptly taken her away while she sat beside him. Uncomfortably scratching his brow, Xavier replied.

"Hello, this is Xavier. We met earlier this morning at the waiting lounge. If you remember, you were sitting beside me."

There was a brief pause from the other side before Emma replied, "Hmm, how may I help you?"

"Actually, there's a problem. I'm not sure if you noticed, but our documents have been exchanged," Xavier explained politely.

Again, there was a few seconds of silence in response. Then, after a pause, Emma asked hurriedly, "Where are you?"

"I'm in front of the basketball court."

"Okay, I'll be there in 2 minutes."

"Great," Xavier responded, relieved to have quickly resolved the mix-up.

Hanging up the call, Xavier walked over to the courtside and took a seat. He knew from experience that a girl's "two minutes" could mean anything, so he patiently waited while considering playing a video game. Soon, he spotted a girl in a black hoodie running towards him, and he recognized her as Emma.

'Isn't she too fast? Now that makes me think, why is this document so important to her?' Xavier smirked to himself as he glanced at the documents in his hand.

Emma reached the courtside, her emotions visible through her eyes despite half of her face being covered by a mask. Xavier could sense her urgency and worry about the document. However, what confused him was that she didn't have a folder for the exchange.

Holding Emma's folder tightly and away from her, Xavier asked cautiously, "Where is my document?"

"Give me my document back," Emma demanded sternly.

Xavier chuckled at her persistence. "Do not make me ask again, Miss Torres. Where is my document?"

Emma pursed her lips tightly, unable to reveal that Kai had torn up and discarded Xavier's document. Clenching her fist, she took a step back. "I'll get it for you tomorrow. Can I have my document back now?"

"No, you can't. If this document is important to you, then so is mine. First, bring me my document," Xavier insisted, waving her folder in front of her before turning to leave.

But Emma stopped him. "Wait! There's a problem with your document," she hurriedly interjected.

"What?"

"I don't have it right now."

"That much is clear."

"I mean, I can't retrieve it for you tomorrow either."

"Miss Torres…" Xavier looked annoyed. "I don't have time to waste on you. Just tell me what's going on."

Silence stretched between them.

Xavier waited, unrushed.

Finally, Emma broke the silence. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize those documents were important. I threw them away." She couldn't let others blame Kai for something he hadn't intended. Avoiding Xavier's gaze, she apologized again. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."

"Then you should not have done that! If by mistake you take something, you should have kept it safe until the owner comes. Not thrown them away the moment you deemed them unimportant."

Emma didn't look up, biting her lower lip in regret. "… I was wrong."

"It doesn't matter anymore. I'm keeping your papers. You can forget about them as well."

"You can't do that!" Emma almost shouted. She couldn't let him have her information just like that.

It's extremely dangerous for her. Right now, she's hiding not only from her family but also from her father's enemies. She doesn't even know who Xavier is. What if he's a friend of her enemy? Or worse, what if he's the enemy himself? If they obtain any information about her, she could be confined to the palace forever.
