3 An Unfamiliar World

The single-tomoe Sharingan in my eyes was active as they quickly scanned the room around me. My eyes darted from one person to another, quickly memorizing their faces in case I met them in the future.

After all, they saw me in my weakest state. How embarrassing.

They were dressed in white coats with differing apparel underneath. None appeared to have any armor on. Some had complex medical equipment attached to their head, probably to provide light, and some were still holding scalpels.

'Based on their expressions, posture, and how they are holding their scalpels, they either don't know how to fight or don't view me as a threat. Probably a combination of both. They are likely civilian doctors with no prior ninja experience,' I quickly jumped to a conclusion.

But I was still slightly worried. My chakra reserves were empty. The doctor who pulled me out was still stuck in my genjutsu because he seemed fully convinced it was a part of reality. It would be impossible for me to escape if all of them were to attack me at once. I looked down at my stubby arms and legs. Thankfully, it looked like they had no intention to do the former.

'How foolish,' I scoffed. 'they still underestimate me even though it has jeopardized one of their fellow medical shinobi's minds.'

I glanced back at the 'seal container.' It appeared I was incorrect in my initial assumption. This 'seal container' is my new body's birth mother. She seemed to have undergone a crude method of extracting the child, but it looks like she is still alive.

Based on her unconscious figure, it seems my forced intervention in her birth process of myself caused her to lose consciousness. Shinobi's of this world seem weaker than back in my time. Well, it does make sense considering the absurdity of the situation. What baby awakens the ability to use chakra while still in their mother's womb?

I shrugged since I did not have familial feelings for this person, at least for now.

But I had more important things to determine right now.

From the evidence I garnered, I was not released from a 'sealed container' but was recently born. And the other medical shinobi probably found it odd that a newborn child can do anything, albeit crying and whining, but casting a genjutsu? It was definitely out of their expectations. I guess it was reasonable that they didn't know what to do with me. I reconsidered my evaluation of how foolishly the medical shinobi acted.

I heard the other medical shinobi muttering something out loud.

"What is wrong with that child?"

"Why are its eyes red, and what is in its eye?"

One of the doctors quickly interrupted them.

"What the hell are you fools doing?! Get the baby the necessary care, and drag Doctor Magnifer out of here. Something is clearly wrong with him," the doctor quickly ordered the others before scowling at the frozen Doctor Magnifer. In the doctor's eyes, he valued the lives of the Uchiha family far more than the others.

The medical 'shinobi' quickly shuffled about, sliding the stretcher with my 'mother' out of the room. One grabbed a plastic bottle filled with what I assumed was milk and placed it in my mouth. I sucked on it a little to ensure it was what I thought it was. Another put a cloth wrapping around my privates: a diaper. I ignored his actions.

'Definitely milk. Pretty good, too.'

The man holding me also left the room, leaving the other medical personnel to clean up. He wrapped my body in extra blankets before making his way down several corridors.

My eyes were still wide open as I took in every room and every turn he made.

'X-Ray rooms, Medical-Surgical Patient Room, Intensive Care Unit Patient Room, Maternity Care Patient Room, 389, 390, 391, 392... 498...'

This place was enormous. It was several stories tall and appeared fully dedicated to the medical arts. I was unsure what an 'X-ray' was, but it related to something medical.

'Fascinating. Perhaps this is shinobi land dedicated to the medical arts rather than the combat arts?'

It made much more sense now.

We took several more turns until we were out of the building. It seemed we exited through the backdoor of the hospital. There were several black objects planted in the back.

The objects were glossy on the exterior with a sleek design. Similar to a carriage, but shorter and more elongated. Its wheels were wide and had a rubbery coating, probably to increase traction. They were tucked into the sides but appeared they could tilt left and right to steer in a particular direction.

'Transportation looks more advanced than it did before I died.'

The doors to the black object opened as several men in black, formal outfits came out. They had black-lensed glasses, preventing the use of genjutsu.

Alarms rang in my head. Genjutsu prevention tools? Are they able to see through those pitch-black lenses?

'It appears they came ready, seems like they are smart enough not to fall for the same trick.'

I gritted my teeth as I was helpless in this situation.

The doctor passed me to the men in black.

"Remember, the Patriarch has requested that this operation be top secret. No one can know what happened outside of the operation table. He has already heard of the surgery mishap from your colleagues. It would be smart to take some distance away from Doctor Magnifer. After all, you know what will happen to him," one of the men in black put his hand against his neck and drew an imaginal horizontal line.

The doctor gulped and nodded before heading back inside.

'Hmm, looks like my actions have unintentionally caused that doctor to suffer. I wonder if he has finally gotten out of my genjutsu.'

I warily glanced towards the men in black glasses. I could detect some sort of energy in their body. It looked like chakra but seemed far denser than anything I had seen before, coming close to natural energy.

'Far more dangerous than I thought. If these shinobi use ninjutsu, the power is likely far higher than other shinobi even if they use the same amount of chakra.'

The man carrying me got into the black vehicle.

"Go." He ordered the driver.

The black vehicle suddenly started moving, accelerating at speeds far higher than a typical carriage.

'Powered by chakra? But I don't sense anything in it. Perhaps the material has chakra absorption built into it. I couldn't tell.'

The danger of the current situation rose by a level.

The man placed me in the vehicle's middle seat before staring at me.

"You can understand me, can't you? I heard of the abilities you showed at the hospital. A red eye with a weird shape in it, huh? Just what are you?"

My eyes narrowed, but I did not speak. I simply continued suckling on the milk bottle while staring at him.

He continued to gaze at me for the next few seconds.

"Haa... what am I saying? A newborn child is still a newborn child, after all," the man spoke to himself as he shrugged.

During the ride, he pesters me by prodding my cheeks or sides with his fingers.

'Looks like he wants some sort of reaction from me.'

I ignored him and continued suckling on the milk bottle.

"Fucking baby, do you not know how to cry?"

He tried a few more times before giving up.

I will remember this.

The rest of the ride was uneventful, and we eventually arrived at our destination. The ride had taken several hours, and the sun had already set. The sky was a dark blue with tints of orange in it.

"We arrived, sir," the vehicle's driver spoke to the man beside me.

Through the vehicle's windows, I saw a large metal gate. Its height easily surpassed the peak of the car. Incremental blocks of white stone were placed every 20 or 30 pickets, giving it a unique architectural style. I could see a portion of a large mansion over the imposing wall.

The mansion was massive, even by my standards. Its height was similar to the Konoha Hokage residence, but instead of a rounded shape, it had a rectangular shape and a flat roof. And it was primarily grayish-white in color.

The gates large doors opened and slowly swung outwards, revealing most of the mansion. The road leading up to the estate was crisscrossed with grass linings. Outside the street, everything was a luscious freshly cut grass.

The rest of the mansion was just as luxurious. It had many windows on each floor with two large entrance doors. Several pillars decorated the exterior, its unique style and luxury complemented by intricate lines and clear glass windows.

The mansion glowed, contrasting with the night as the light from the bright rooms permeated through the windows. It was a stunning sight, incomparable to the humble Uchiha traditional homes.

'Well... They appear to be far wealthier than I initially believed.'

That was an understatement. Based on the quality of architecture, the size of the mansion, and necessary maintenance, everything would easily cost several billion Ryo.

The vehicle stopped after passing through the gates. The driver exited the vehicle and opened the door for us. The man in black left the vehicle with the baby in hand.e

A young woman approached us. Based on her movement, her silent footsteps, and her right hand seemingly instinctively wandering towards an imaginary weapon at her side, she has experience fighting. She had long, glossy black hair tied into a ponytail with dark purple eyes. Outfitted with a standard black and white maid outfit, she was probably one of the many residents in the mansion.

She looked toward the man holding me before taking a step forward and extending her hands.

"The baby," she said tersely.

"Okay, geez, you don't need to be so uptight. I think the baby likes me. We really bonded over the trip. Right, Madara?"

I stopped suckling on the milk bottle and frowned before looking at him.

'How did he know my name? I haven't spoken a single word yet. Or have I?'

My mind raced through the previous 24 hours, but I couldn't think of a single time I spoke out loud.

'Perhaps this has something to do with my reincarnation.'

It was the only possibility I could think of. The maid interrupted my thoughts.

"Stop being an idiot, Daku. It's a baby; it can't talk. Now hand the young master over before there are consequences."

"Sigh... alright. How's the Matriarch?"

He handed me over to the maid. She held me before pressing me against her large breasts.

I could barely breathe. I wouldn't die here, right?

More importantly, they were in the way of my milk bottle.

I forced my head up with difficulty and glared at her, but she was focused on the other man, Daku.

"The Patriarch is looking for you. There's another mission waiting for you."

She turned and began walking back towards the mansion.

"Hey, ayo! At least answer my question, Aiko!"

She ignored him, and we entered the mansion together.

I snorted without glancing back.

'That will be nothing compared to what I'll do to you once I recover some of my powers. And can this woman turn me over? I'm trying to drink.'

The mansion was as expected, massive inside as well. A large, well-lit lobby with a transparent glass ceiling immediately greeted us. I could see the night sky through it. A luxurious crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling, its golden crystals shimmering as we passed.

We walked up the curved staircase onto the second floor before entering a large hallway with rooms on each side. She opened the large door at the end of the hallway, where I found myself in a large room.

Overall, the room was pretty dark in color. White, gray, and dark colors worked together to build a unified theme. In the room, a large dark gray bed stood its mattress not on the ground but rather on a raised table-like surface.

'A nice bed, that's good.'

She walked me over to the bed before turning and placing me in a tiny crib located next to the bed.

'Hey, hey, hey! You can't do that,' I waved my tiny arms in anger to get her attention. The milk bottle fell from my hands.

"Hmmm?" She looked curiously at me.

"Uwaawuawuwwaaa! Wa! Wa! Wwaa!" I tried to communicate with the limited facial muscles and undeveloped mouth. My hands waved between the crib and the considerably larger bed. She should have gotten the message.

"You want the bed?"

"Uwa!"

"No."

"..."

"..."

She then placed the fallen milk bottle on the desk near the door before turning around, flicking off the lights and closing the door.
