Chapter 2

Winter closed her eyes as she felt the sensation of falling from a great height. The cold wind whipped around her, and she knew she would meet instant death the moment her body hit the ground.

Yet, she feared nothing.

Nothing would scare her anymore now that she had lost everything. The only regret she had was the baby nestled within her stomach.

She had been waiting for this baby for so long, and now she had to take him with her to the grave.

'I'm sorry, my baby…' Winter's last thought echoed as her body hit the ground.

Strangely, she felt no pain. She floated in emptiness for a while before slowly opening her eyes, thinking she was already in heaven.

However, the moment she opened her eyes, she saw the reflection of herself in the vanity mirror.

She paused, confusion settling in. She vividly remembered jumping from the skyscraper's top floor.

Winter stared at her reflection absentmindedly before she looked around the room and realized something.

'This… this is the bridal room where I spent my first night as a married couple with Seb,' Winter recalled. She instantly recognized everything in this room, including the vintage-style bridal room, the white bed decorated with flower petals, and the chandeliers shaped like rose bouquets hanging from the high ceiling.

She purchased this small mansion in a gated community based on Sebastian's request, so they could hold their wedding and first night in a new house.

Too bad she wasn't allowed to stay in here after their first night, because Camilla would occupy this place only two days after her wedding day, and forced Winter to live in the old penthouse.

'So why am I back in here?'

Winter struggled to comprehend what had happened. She glanced around and noticed the desk clock on top of the drawer.

June 15, 2022.

10.30 p.m.

Winter gasped when she saw the date.

She had somehow traveled back in time, two years to the night after her wedding reception with Sebastian Saenz, to be exact.

'If I've gone back in time, does that mean—' Winter instinctively touched her belly to feel the baby bump, only to find it flat.

Winter bit her lower lip as she felt a storm brewing in her heart again.

She didn't know what kind of fate God wanted to give her, but she truly returned in time, when she was just married to Sebastian Saenz and when she hadn't been pregnant yet.

There was a complicated emotion in her heart.

She was happy to return two years ago when she had just married Sebastian so she could mend her mistake before it was too late.

But at the same time, she was also grieving over her baby.

Because she didn't return with the baby that she treasured so much, it made her feel like she had just had her third miscarriage.

Her first two miscarriages from Aiden were because the fetuses were inherently in poor health, but the baby she had with Sebastian was healthy.

And she had lost him.

"My dearest son…" Winter gently murmured, her hand caressing her flat belly. "I may hate your father, but I never hate you. I'm so sorry, but I can't meet you again because there is no way I'd allow myself to get pregnant for the second time by your scum father."

Winter lifted her gaze and stared at the door where Sebastian would enter the bridal room in roughly five minutes.

Her gaze turned hostile as she remembered everything that Sebastian and Camilla—the pair of vicious mother and son—did to her.

Winter had always been ignorant and fragile, allowing them to control her late husband's wealth until it was too late for her to notice their schemes.

They took her fortune, isolated her from her family and friends, and then left her heartbroken.

The storm in her heart raged on, fueled by the betrayal of the husband who was supposed to guide and protect her.

She had dozens of scenarios on how to avenge herself against Sebastian and a hundred ways to prevent her misfortune from happening.

But for now, all she wanted to see was that damned bastard's face. She wanted to know if this scum was still the same scoundrel.

The door was pushed open by someone from the outside, and Sebastian sauntered his way into the bridal room with a bottle of champagne in his left hand and disheveled wedding suit.

Back then, Winter thought that Sebastian was just having fun with his groomsmen before spending time with his bride. After all, this was his first marriage, unlike Winter.

But the way his hair got messy, his collar and tie were taken off, and the clear scent of a woman's perfume was the red flag that Winter shouldn't have ignored back then.

Sebastian kicked the door behind him to close it and swaggered towards his bride.

He had that frivolous smile as they stared at each other and asked casually, "What's with your face, Madam? Are you not happy we're married now? Oh, right, you're my wife already. I shouldn't call you Madam anymore."

That was the same line that Sebastian said when he walked into the bridal room. His appearance confirmed Winter's suspicion—nothing had changed.

This was the same scoundrel who cheated on her one year from now.

"Should I call you wife then?" Sebastian asked, humming momentarily and clicking his tongue. "It sounds weird. But that's just how marriage works, right? It's always weird and uncomfortable."

Again, it was the same line that he had used before, and Winter remembered her response.

She had nodded shyly and expressed her desire to be addressed as 'wife' or 'darling', just as Aiden had called her back then.

But not now.

She couldn't bear the disgusting thought of this man calling her lovingly, even though he hated her deep in his heart.

Thus, this time, she made a different choice: "You should keep addressing me as Madam."
