Can Ares' love heal her broken heart and shattered soul and make her believe in love once again? ~ ~ ~ "It's not how I feel about you, but rather how I have never felt for anyone else. " ~ ~ ~ "I, Rowen, Alpha of the Hunter's Pack, reject Seraphina as my mate... " There was a pin drop silence in the hall as he proudly announced his rejection with a wide smile on his face. Pfft, this fool. Loud gasps filled the tensed air, as the most powerful person in this entire banquet came up behind me, wrapped his strong arms around my waist, and nestled his face in my neck. Shivers ran down my spine as I softly caressed his face. His authoritative stance and murderous eyes made everyone gulp in fear and shake in anticipation. "And I, Ares Maximilian Dacre, the Lycan King, claim Seraphina as my mate and promise to cherish and protect her, if anyone if so dares to look at her wrongly." His intense glare then fell on Rowen, who trembled pathetically. Oh how the tables turn!

Pure Friendship, Casual Relation, and Strong Beliefs

The door slammed open before I could do it myself and came inside a gorgeous red-headed girl with a huge smile on her face.

Stepping back, startled by her sudden appearance, I looked at her like a deer caught in headlights as I tried to put my panic away.

"Hi! My name is Azar." She greeted me politely while pulling me in a hug and I gaped at her like a fish, forcing a smile onto my face.

I tensed up as my breathing became erratic at her touch, and palms became clammy as she pulled away from me with an apologetic look on her flawless face.

Physical contact wasn't my strong suit, if you haven't noticed already.

Ugh, relax, it's fine Sera! It's not like this is the first time.

"Hehe, sorry, I was just so excited to meet you."

Oh, I know who she is. She is the gamma of the Lycan's pack, who is known for her fiery temper and violent personality. The most popular rumor circulating her was that she brutally tortured a werewolf to death for messing with her. I don't know what the truth is in that, but it was enough to make the most grown and frightening men and women shit scared of her.

And the said person was apologizing and being all friendly with me....

Should I be proud or petrified?

Wait, I am a lycan, ain't I? So, she most probably would be friendly to me since I am one of their own. I heard Lycans were huge in protecting their kind and keeping them safe.

"It's alright." I gave her what I hope was a sweet smile.

"Aah, you're too pretty." She held my hand as she gushed over me, making me widen my eyes in wonder.

An unmatched beauty like her, calling me pretty?

Either she is blind or lying.

Hmm, in any way, it doesn't seem like she is here to make fun of me or beat me up.

I awkwardly laughed. What do I do? I have never had a friendly conversation with anyone. What do I do in this situation? What if she thinks I am being a bitch and beats me up?

Ugh, I did not want to lose a potential friend.

"Do you want to take a look around?" I managed to squeeze out a question after multiple self consolations and self motivation.

Her gorgeous purple eyes brightened up as she grinned widely before pulling my arm in hers.

"Of course. I also want to know you better."

My heart fluttered at her words. Her face looked genuine, and she was relaxed. Her posture would have been hard and stiff had she wanted to hit me.

A small smile made its way to my lips as I nodded before taking her to the only beautiful place in this wretched pack.

The wooden deck that was made on a soothing stream by an Alpha of the previous' generations specifically for his wife.

"How do you feel?" She asked me while looking around the woods.

To reach the stream, we had to walk through these muddy woods and tall trees, and then we will reach the opening of the deck.

"Um, fine, I guess, why?" I answered confusedly, not really getting her question.

"No, I mean, now that you're a lycan."

"Oh." How did I feel?

"I am happy," I really was. Actually, I was on top of the world. "I thought I was cursed or something since I was wolf-less. But now that I am a lycan, I feel like I can finally be at peace."

There was something pure about her, something so comforting and peaceful that I ended up blurting all my inner thoughts to her.

She carried an air of familiarity around her. I don't know why, but my heart was at peace, deeming her trustworthy.

I even sensed a feeling of nostalgia. What the heck?

I am meeting her for the first time in my life, so why do I feel so close to her? Why does it feel like we have been like sisters from years?

Now that I think about it, this familiarity and sense of kinship was with the King as well. He felt so awfully familiar and calm that I became so bold and confident in front of him instead of shaking like a leaf. I was just too busy swooning over him to pinpoint this feeling out.

Is this what it meant to be a lycan?

"You can stop feeling incomplete now." She gave me a comforting smile as she caressed my arm that she held tightly in her arms.

"You're meant to reach the skies and beyond."

She waved her hand around dramatically, making me admire her confidence. Even I don't have this much faith in myself.

I chuckled. "And how do you know that?"

"Hasn't Max told you about the prophecy yet?" She frowned as we stopped walking and she stood in front of me.

Max? Oh, his middle name is Maximilian, so I guess everyone calls him Max. How cute.

"Not really. He said I will get to know after we leave here and do a test."

"Ugh, he is so dramatic. A test and all." She scoffed as she rolled her eyes; and my eyes widened at the casual way she talked about him. I was in awe.

This just shows how close, and tight their relation as a leader and a subordinate was.

"Even without a test, I know you're the one." She asserted without a hint of doubt or hesitation.

I held in a sarcastic scoff. I can not even shift, reach the skies and beyond? Pfft, yea right.

"How can you be so sure?"

Her confidence radiated from her laughter as she held my cold hand between her warm ones.

"Because it's you, silly. I can just feel it. The one to tear the skies apart and bring salvation to the world. It has got to be you."
