26 Anticipated Arrival, Grand Celebration, and Best Attempt

The new moon had finally arrived.

Beneath a sky adorned with stars, a grand new moon celebration banquet unfolded in a magnificent hall of unprecedented splendor in the hunter's pack. The hall itself was a masterpiece of architecture, with towering columns and intricately carved stone walls that seemed to reach for the heavens.

Inside, long tables adorned with exquisite linens and shimmering candles stretched across the hall, accommodating the high-ranking werewolves who had traveled from packs far and wide. Fresh bouquets of flowers adorned the tables and crystal goblets gleamed in the soft, warm light, while ornate chandeliers hung overhead, casting a gentle, golden glow.

The centerpiece of the feast was a grand, roasted beast, its succulent aroma permeating the air and making mouths water. Surrounding it were platters of vegetables, fruits, and baked breads, a total flaunt of the excessive wealth of the hunter's pack.

Baked goods for wild animals who hunt and eat raw meat. Like seriously?

They didn't leave a single thing behind in today's celebration, not a thing was missing. To be honest, it wasn't only because of the new moon but because this pack had procured a lycan.

Werewolves considered each pack who produced a lycan, the utmost honorable and that certain pack's ranking grew. Though, the lycans themselves couldn't give a single shit about them.

Very few werewolf pack's actually thought about the well beings of the lycans of their pack and put them in high regards while the majority just saw them as an opportunity and exploited them.

The attendees, leaders and warriors, elders and pack members alike, were resplendent in their finest attire. Fake laughter and pretend camaraderie filled the hall as werewolves mingled, sharing stories and tales of their pack's achievements.

The very people who basked in amusement and entertainment at my humiliation. I am yet to get that vision out of my head. Every time I thought about it, I would get chills and my blood would run cold.

Everyone truly anticipated about just one thing, and that was arrival of the lycan pack, the real reason for their attendance.

"Oh my- you have broken all the limits of beauty that exists." Azar immediately started to gush over as I stepped outside into the lounge of our cabin, ready to face them all, making me blush furiously. They all seemed to have a knack for making me erupt in flames with their words and actions.

She herself was looking extremely gorgeous with her emerald green dress which contrasted prettily with her deep scarlet hair.

And I was wearing the dress that...Ares himself gifted to me.

A beautiful glaucous gown, with golden patterns embellished underneath the see-through tulle fabric, matching my silver hair, deep blue eyes and milky skin like it was made just for me. With its off shoulders that accentuated my collarbone and shoulders, it looked nothing less than a piece of art.

I ran my hands on my delicate chain of intricate flowers embossed on the bodice with a sweet-heart neckline, which made even a controlled person like me gush.

Unlike the dirty white rags I wore in my vision, this dress was straight out of a fairy tale story.

I liked dressing up more than I thought I would when Azar had woken me up this morning. All the previous time I unwillingly dressed up for the banquets, it was all to fuel Kaiden's perverted desires. Turns out, dressing up and getting ready for the right person is more fun than you can imagine.

My cheeks flushed as I shyly twiddled my fingers together.

"Thanks, you look so pretty yourself." I smoothed the frontal strands of my hair while throwing a small smile her way.

She grinned widely before walking towards me, taking a hold of my arm.

"Shall we go then?"

I simply nodded my head, eager to see...Ares.

My heart was bursting and I felt feverish as I pondered over his reaction.

Turns out I didn't have to wait for long, as Ares stood just outside the door in all his handsome glory, all dapper and ravishing, his blinding beauty slapping everyone in the face.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

My mate looked at me with a blank face that gave nothing away. And I almost went into hysteria, when I noticed his slightly wide eyes and his mouth that slowly parted.

A beaming smile made its way on my face. That reaction..that means he liked me right?

"You are...beautiful."

They were quite simple words. But the way he said them so slowly and carefully in that deep voice of his, with his eyes dark and passionate made me feel so many things.

He covered the distance between us in quick strides before stopping two steps away from me as if controlling his fervent desires. His fists clenched at his sides, and I felt an odd sense of superiority in me. I incited that reaction in him. The calm and composed lycan king, feared by everyone, was lost at words and was controlling himself...for me.

Agh, he fed my ego so well.

"What am I going to do with you?" He let out a deep exhale as he covered his face with his palm making me giggle.

Yes, f-cking giggle.

"You look..you."

Wow, out of everything I could have said. Seriously Sera? That was the best you could do? The f-ck is that even supposed to mean? Mentally face-palming myself I scrambled for words to save that awful attempt at complimenting him when his rough chuckle put a stop to my worries.

His warm palm cupped my cheek, a shiver collapsing on me at his jolting touch, as the corner of his eyes softened and his lips twitched into a tiny smile.

All because of me. For me. At me.

"Thanks, I tried my best." I huffed out a small laugh as I covered my mouth with my hand, my eyes sparkling at his monotone voice. I wasn't aware he had a playful side to him.

And judging by the gigantically wide eyes and jaws dropped at the ground of Damien, Azar, and Elio, seems like they were unaware as well.
