Chapter 6: Shadows of the Past

In the aftermath of the battle at dawn, Luna Nova began to rebuild, the scars of the rifts slowly fading from the city's landscape. Aiden Evernight and the Lunar Sentinels had emerged victorious, but the memory of their harrowing encounter lingered in the air like a dark shadow.

"I can't shake the feeling that there's something more to all of this," Aiden confessed, his voice low with uncertainty. "The rifts, the beasts... it's like there's a puzzle, and we only have a piece of it."

Selene studied him for a moment, her eyes unreadable in the dim light. "You're not alone in that feeling, Aiden. There are whispers among the Sentinels, rumors of a greater threat lurking in the shadows."

"A greater threat?" Aiden echoed, his curiosity piqued.

Selene nodded, her expression grave. "We've faced rift beasts before, but what if they're just the beginning? What if there's something else out there, something far more dangerous?"

Aiden's mind raced with possibilities. The thought of a new enemy, one more powerful and insidious than anything they had faced before, filled him with a sense of dread.

"What can we do?" he asked, his voice tinged with urgency.

"We must remain vigilant," Selene replied, her gaze steady. "Continue our patrols, monitor the rift activity, and be prepared for whatever may come. And above all, trust in each other. We are stronger together than we are alone."
