In the wretched Left district, gas lamps cast an eerie glow upon the inebriated figures strewn across the cobblestones, oblivious to the rain pelting down on them.
This district was a mecca for bars, devoid of any semblance of normalcy. Even the scant houses were melded with drinking establishments.
A few women, dressed in typical lower-class attire, lingered on the street, seeking their next customer.
Approaching Lucian, a lady with clear skin and a blush on her cheeks gently draped her arm over his upper body.
"You're quite the handsome one. How about spending the night with me?" she purred, unaware that her intended companion was the same man she'd warned about the district's dangers.
Lucian's face remained concealed beneath the shadow of his tophat as he regarded her. "What brings you here?" he inquired.
Recognizing his voice, her head drooped in embarrassment. "It's you..."
