A very strong enemy

The beast let out a growl that was loud enough to shake the whole building and charged for Levi. This beast unlike the Sowvels, was fast and unpredictable.

It pushed Levi to the ground with its head--the part of its head that didn't have the gigantic horn. The creature didn't wait for Levi to collect himself.

It grabbed Levi using its teeth and flung him across the room. Levi hit the wall with so much force that it left a crack.

His body fell to the ground as he painfully screamed for someone to help him. His dagger was no longer in his hands and he had nothing to defend himself with.

The creature once more charged, angling the horn of its head to Levi's heart to end him once and for all.

This time, Levi was lucky to act fast. He closed his eyes and turned into a black fog. Unluckily for him, he turned back to human form a second too early.

The beast's horn pierced him a little on the side of his stomach.

"Fuck! Shit! " He screamed as he tried to crawl away from the beast. He didn't want to die but he was too weak to fight and the creature was too fast.

The beast raised its foot to stomp Levi but he rolled away in time to miss the force of its foot. It would have surely crushed him.

[Stand up and fight host. You're not immortal yet]

The beast let out another growl and charged for Levi again. His blood was on its horn and the fury in its eyes was deadly. Levi found himself unable to move. He was too hurt and he was bleeding a lot. 

It lifted Levi off the ground using its horn and flung him across the room once more. Levi groaned and attempted to get up but fell every time.

[Inspect the beast, you fool]

Levi had forgotten about the inspection tab. He had been too panicked to even think rationally.

"Inspect beast."

"Fuck. '' Levi knew he was doomed. The beast was already coming towards him and it was angry that Levi had outsmarted it.

[Beast weakness: Gets irritated by whistling sounds]

Levi didn't waste any time beginning to whistle. When the beast heard this, it let out another growl and shook its head vigorously. It still charged but its aim was off and its concentration was no longer there. 

Levi used his fog ability and this time it worked because the beast was more concerned with not hearing the sound than killing Levi. He spotted his dagger a few meters away and rushed to get it. 

In this hurry, he forgot to keep whistling and the beast hit him from behind with its foot. Levi was barely able to recover when it went backwards and then started running toward Levi at a high speed. 

Like before, its horn was directly angled at Levi's heart. 

"How can I kill the beast? "

[Stab it in the neck]

Levi mustered up the last of his strength and got up. He turned into a fog before the beast could reach him and appeared above the creature on its back. 

He had a perfect hit to the neck. He whistled while he repeatedly stabbed the beast while holding its horn with the other hand so he wouldn't fall. After about ten stabs, black blood started sputtering out and the beast fell to the ground.

Levi held onto its horn tighter as it fell. When he got off the beast, he lay down on the ground staring up at the ceiling. He heard a growl but this time it came from the floor above him. 

He was glad that the door at the top of the stairs hadn't opened. It looked like it only had more monsters behind it. They could even be more dangerous than the ones below.

After that message, others showed up as he gained more attributes and his stats increased.

He was a little disappointed that he had not gained more skills and attributes. He had a long way to go though. Increasing his stats to become strong was looking possible every second.

Levi did as the system had advised and turned them into exp. Then he got up and went exploring. Some of the creatures were asleep and he didn't want to wake them. 

He couldn't slay a creature with a dagger and expect it to die. It would get up and kill him before he had the chance to escape or stab it again. 

When he went back to the beast that lay on the ground, he found himself drawn to it. It was giving off some dark energy. The only thing Levi heard was the growling of his stomach.

The creature looked so appealing that he wanted to eat it. Not its meat. It was something else entirely.

Levi's eyes widened at the system's notification. How did one even consume a soul? 

"Pardon? "

"No, I am not eating anyone's or anything's soul. "
