LUCIFER'S BANE

Part one of a two book series. The rules of the fallen are simple. Ten days. Ten days, you live without sin and you will be accepted back into heaven. It's just ten days, it shouldn't be that hard. Until the rules became applicable to fragile, innocent Azaliah who after an ambush, was thrown out of heaven by mistake and began her transition into a human. With her newly found emotions all over the place, the human family she lived with, a low ranked angel who swore to protect her, a mark on her shoulder that is a beacon for the darkness that ruled the earth, and her romantic feelings for the mysterious demon who helped her stay alive in exchange for his freedom, ten days suddenly felt like ten years. And with that came an epic battle for her soul as two ancient spirits came after her when the celestial world finds out that she is the weapon that can kill man and spirit's greatest enemy, Lucifer. Nb: part one mostly focuses on Lucifer as the main character. The main character for book two would be introduced towards the end of the book.

FLASHBACK 8

The female creature in the garden played around the green fields with no care in the world and with no idea that over a million spirits were watching her, especially their head. The most fascinated spirit and the most annoyed.

Lucifer watched her jump around with a floating creature on the air. It's appearance was very strange, it basically had no head just a pair of small colorful wings. The ability of the creature to survive without a head was beyond Lucifer's mind.

As the female jumped around, the two large lumps on her chest danced with her and Lucifer struggled greatly not to look at them.

As strange as it was, Lucifer found himself drawn to it in a weird way. He shook his head and frowned when he realized he had been staring for too long.

"This is why she must be destroyed". He said to himself. Lucifer's eyes darted to the tree that was strictly forbidden to touch, he smiled coyly. He had not had any form of entertainment for quite a long time, this was going to be fun.

He began walking over to the tree but he was stopped on the way by a voice.

"Master". Adriel called. Lucifer stood still for a minute then slowly turned in annoyance, his face contorted into a frown. Could she not leave him alone? Could she not disappear?

"Yeeeessss?" He dragged in annoyance. Adriel did not seem to notice as she bowed slightly with a smile on her face.

"I have summoned the others as you ordered master". She said. Lucifer stared at her for a while. Others? Ordered? What order? When did he even call her? What oth--

Then he remembered. His mouth formed a small 'o' and he smiled. The sight confused Adriel for a moment.

"Ahh yes, the others". Lucifer said with an unamused face. He turned his attention to the tree again, leaving Adriel hanging.

The female subordinate stood in confusion as Lucifer's attention was withdrawn from her. At least he wasn't staring at the other female.

"Adriel?" Lucifer called suddenly.

"Master?"

"Why do you think we did not see this tree before now?

Adriel stood puzzled, after a few minutes of silence she shook her head slowly and turned to Lucifer.

"I have no idea master". Lucifer sighed irritated. This was why he wanted so badly to use her face to clean the grass.

"Never mind". He finally said. "Call the others you had summoned. There is much to discuss". Adriel hesitated for a while, she wanted to ask Lucifer what he had discovered, but then she decided against it when she saw the glare Lucifer threw at her when she made one step closer towards him.

"Yes sir". She blurted out and walked away.

As she walked up to the others, Gadreel was smirking at her. She frowned her face.

"That was very funny". He said. With his unruly appearance, that smirk could send shivers down the spine of a normal person but Adriel was unmoved. Probably because she was in the same state of unruliness as he.

"It wasn't". She coldly replied.

Gadreel unfolded his arms from its crossed position and placed one over her lean shoulder.

"With all that has happened, I thought you would have learnt by now".

"We all thought so". Yeqon spoke out with a small smile. "But here we are".

Adriel frowned and smacked Gadreel's hand away. "You have no right to speak to me like that…" She turned to Yeqon. "Both of you".

The two males looked at each other and then burst into laughter. The other two angels, Kasdaye and Asbeel struggled to keep their lips in a straight line as well. Adriel did not like the mockery at all.

"What.is.so.funny?" She asked, struggling to keep her self calm.

"Oh nothing". Yeqon replied.

"It's just…"

"Who are you again?" Gadreel asked. Adriel raised a brow.

"What?"

"Who are you? What is your rank? Oh wait, you no longer have a rank so that means you have no authority over us here anymore". The others nodded in affirmation.

Adriel's mouth opened wide for a second.

"T-that doesn't mean anything…I'm still his right hand woman".

The others struggled to muffle their laughs.

"Right hand dog you mean". Asbeel said. Gadreel tapped his head in amusement. The angel had just learnt about the animal called a dog and they all concluded it was the dumbest animal they had seen because of how loyal it was.

"Why…you--"

"Master Lucifer".

As Adriel turned, she saw a tall figure towering over her with a scowl on his face. Her breath hitched for a moment in fear

.

"Mas--"

"Gadreel. I see you have gathered the others". Lucifer interrupted not even sparing her a glance.

"Master, it was the least thing I could do for you". Gadreel replied smirking at his fuming companion.

"Good. I have made a great discovery, one that can help us". The angels stared at each other in confusion.

"Uhm master, we didn't speak about anything yet". One of them spoke out. Lucifer growled.

"I.Know.That". He said. "I am going to explain it to you now". He turned towards the large tree and pointed at it.

"That tree. Can anybody tell me why we couldn't see it in the first place?"

The angels were silent.

"Uh--"

"Because it isn't for the naked eyes". Lucifer replied himself. He was actually too excited with his discovery to care about his subordinates slow thinking. "In heaven, there were certain things that appeared before our eyes only when he wanted us to notice them, for example--"

"The fire in his throne room".

Gadreel explained. Lucifer smiled.

"Exactly. The fire has always been there but we just couldn't see it, it only appeared as a warning to those who would think they could just walk in".

"So that means.."

"For we and these creatures not to notice the tree before…"

"It's a divine tree?"

"Exactly". Lucifer confirmed. "It has a divine importance. He doesn't want them to eat from the tree because they could be like us".

"Immortal?"

"No. They already are, They'll just have divine abilities probably like us. Or better".

This revelation made the others to get angry.

"Who are they anyway? All they've done since we got here is play around. They're useless". Kasdaye finally spoke out.

"Why… they are nobody. And we must make sure they stay that way. The best way to do that is…"

"To make them eat the fruit". Adriel replied. Lucifer smiled at her.

"Yes".

"But how would we do that?" Gadreel asked with his arms crossed.

"Yes how? They can't even see us". Yeqon argued as well.

"I already have a plan". Lucifer's eyes moved to the four legged crawling creature on the floor. He picked it up and faced the others again. The creature let out a hiss and they all backed away.

"I believe this is the creature the man called snake. I like it and I will use it against the male and his woman".

"Uhhm…will you make it bite them?" Asbeel asked. Lucifer looked him like he had grown four heads.

"Of course not. I'll make it talk to them".

"How master?"

"By controlling it". The whole garden was silent for a while.

"I'm sorry what?"
