LUCIFER'S BANE

Part one of a two book series. The rules of the fallen are simple. Ten days. Ten days, you live without sin and you will be accepted back into heaven. It's just ten days, it shouldn't be that hard. Until the rules became applicable to fragile, innocent Azaliah who after an ambush, was thrown out of heaven by mistake and began her transition into a human. With her newly found emotions all over the place, the human family she lived with, a low ranked angel who swore to protect her, a mark on her shoulder that is a beacon for the darkness that ruled the earth, and her romantic feelings for the mysterious demon who helped her stay alive in exchange for his freedom, ten days suddenly felt like ten years. And with that came an epic battle for her soul as two ancient spirits came after her when the celestial world finds out that she is the weapon that can kill man and spirit's greatest enemy, Lucifer. Nb: part one mostly focuses on Lucifer as the main character. The main character for book two would be introduced towards the end of the book.

FLASHBACK

Darkness. That was all he saw, all he felt. He didn't know how many years had passed but he knew it had been very long since the day he turned against heaven. He and his subordinates were spending their days in the void. He had never heard of it, he didn't even know it existed until his arrival here. Lucifer closed his eyes,an action he took whenever the noises of his subordinates became too much for him.

He knew what they were facing. Somehow, the most high was able to torture their minds in addition to the darkness, it was horrible but Lucifer was getting used to it. Unlike the others, the darkness was his safe place. He was becoming one with the void and the only thing that made him irritated was the noises that came out of the other angels mouths.

Why couldn't they be stronger? Even without the power that the sword possessed,he expected better but as always was sorely disappointed.

Lucifer was so accustomed to the darkness that he began to make out figures on his own. He spotted the first six he recruited, each of them holding their heads and covering their ears. Some even released a cry of pain once in a while.

Pathetic!

He would not be feared and respected if he had been weak like they are. Still despite Lucifer's advantage over the others, he still struggled to keep himself sane if he were ever sane. Whatever the most high was doing, it was working but he would not make a fool of himself in front of the others. He would not be weak.

Let me get my hands on that sword again, he'll know I am not to be messed with.

HE.

Whatever seed of hatred Lucifer harbored for the most high before was nothing in comparison with the loathing he bore now.

How dare he humiliate me?!

He was going to have his revenge. He was going to ruin him and take his throne, every angel will suffer under him. He will spare not a soul. He would erase heaven from existence.

I just need to leave this accursed place!

Lucifer's thoughts died down in his head and he listened to the cries of the angels. He actually enjoyed it and he didn't want them to stop but most times it got too much, he felt like taking out their heads to give him calm. The former cherub smiled in the darkness and held his head, the hair on his scalp had withered away with only a few strands left at the sides. Lucifer knew he would look horrible if he ever left this prison but he cared not about his appearance. All he wanted was revenge. This was all a game of strength to him and he wasn't going to lose.

"Ah. Victory, I can taste it, I can smell it. I will have it and will rule all spirits. I will have a throne larger than he, I will be better than he". He whispered to him self while he scratched his overgrown nails on his palm, wounding them.

Lucifer kept repeating this words to himself as he kept on listening to the cries of the other angels. It kept going on and on as always until that moment when everything stopped at once, silence followed and a bright light shone for the first time in the thick darkness.

Lucifer felt his eyes burn and he almost screamed in irritation. Light had become foreign to him and he actually hated it now. He looked around and saw the faces of over a million fallen angels. Each of them had the expression of hope on their face and Lucifer almost laughed.

They all appeared tattered and different just like him, nothing about them looked divine anymore. It was as if they had stopped living and were merely existing. Lucifer also noticed that they had all been hanging on thin air even though it felt like they sat and stood on solid ground, he decided not to think too much about it.

Some of the angels decided to stand up even though it was initially difficult and move slowly towards the light. Lucifer did not stop them, but it annoyed him that they did not pay any attention to him at all. As the angels went in their droves, he spotted Gadreel and Adriel at a very far corner. Both were staring at the light as well but they had no sign that they were interested in their redemption anymore. Their faces were empty and Lucifer smiled. Finally spirits he could work with.

As though they felt his eyes on them, they turned to his direction. Gadreel widened his eyes and Adriel had a shift in her gaze, admiration or relief Lucifer couldn't tell and he didn't care either.

With a simple nod, he had given an order:Stand up and follow the others. They wasted no time and soon Lucifer lost them in the crowd. When the last spirit had gone through, he made a move towards the light. If the maker was showing them mercy, he was extremely pathetic. He had no plans to reconcile, he was out for blood. With one last look at the now brightened empty space, he smirked and went past the blazing light with his eyes closed.

Lucifer felt like he was flying but he felt nothing else. No pain and there was no feeling of darkness. Was this another type of prison? No it couldn't be. Prisons are not supposed to be this calm and peaceful.

Was this another mind test?

Soon after, Lucifer's feet landed on a floor. His eyebrows scrunched in confusion. What kind of floor was this? Why was it so soft?

He wiggled his toes on the surface and gasped in surprise. What was this?!This time, he opened his eyes and what he saw shocked him. Underneath his feet was a green substance and it had the shape of a blunt dagger without an handle, also he noticed that the substance was all over the floor.

What kind of weapon was this? And why did it feel so nice?

His eyes moved away from the floor and fastened on his surroundings. The view made him marvel. It looked like the gardens in heaven but better. The gardens back there did not have these green substance, he moved slowly across the floor and looked around. He saw large trees that looked nothing like the trees in heaven. While those ones had crystal like branches, these ones had brownish branches with the same green substance on it. It had different kinds of items on it that he couldn't explain. Some were red, some green others orange and they were on different trees.

Lucifer also saw springs and waterfalls, those he was familiar with but then his eyes widened when he saw the creatures that surrounded the garden. They were different from each other, some were extremely big and some very minute it was almost easy to miss them. They had different shapes and sizes and they produced different noises too. Some crawled on their feet, some walked while others flew on the air. This place whatever it is, was the most beautiful place Lucifer had ever seen.

He wanted it for himself. As soon as this thought entered his head, he started to notice the angels scattered throughout the beautiful place staring in awe just like he was.He frowned.

"Oh". Was all that came out from his mouth.

Lucifer then stared upwards and his mouth formed a little 'o' afterwards. The garden had a sky as well but not the ones he had seen before, these ones were blue and had white colored objects in it but the ones in heaven were clear. Occasionally, the objects would change shape and Lucifer would sigh in wonder.

After a while, Lucifer laughed out loud for the first time.

"How foolish". He said."Do you really think this would make me change my mind?Listen to me! I will take this your new creation and make it mine, you just watch".

Some of the angels had stopped their sightseeing to stare at him in shock. Lucifer ignored them and moved to one of the creatures that walked near him. It was looking right at him with an expressionless face, Lucifer stared back in the same manner before he extended his hand and touched its head. However, much to his surprise, his hand slipped past the creature's head and came out from behind. Lucifer's eyes widened.

"What was that?" He half yelled.
