LUCIFER'S BANE

Part one of a two book series. The rules of the fallen are simple. Ten days. Ten days, you live without sin and you will be accepted back into heaven. It's just ten days, it shouldn't be that hard. Until the rules became applicable to fragile, innocent Azaliah who after an ambush, was thrown out of heaven by mistake and began her transition into a human. With her newly found emotions all over the place, the human family she lived with, a low ranked angel who swore to protect her, a mark on her shoulder that is a beacon for the darkness that ruled the earth, and her romantic feelings for the mysterious demon who helped her stay alive in exchange for his freedom, ten days suddenly felt like ten years. And with that came an epic battle for her soul as two ancient spirits came after her when the celestial world finds out that she is the weapon that can kill man and spirit's greatest enemy, Lucifer. Nb: part one mostly focuses on Lucifer as the main character. The main character for book two would be introduced towards the end of the book.

"I can't believe you still won't let her fight".

"I can't believe you will go against my orders and let her fight, if I had not appeared on time you--"

"Hey now, she appeared on her own I didn't call her. And when you appeared, I was just warning her about not being there".

"I don't believe you".

"How could you not?"

Nahamani turned fiercely to face Beth.

"Because you have been trying to get her to train with you for a thousand years!" She half yelled. Beth scoffed.

"That does not mean anything. I would never oppose your command because of my feelings. I have only being trying to convince you to let her fight". Beth replied. Nahamani looked around the hall and noticed that some of the angels were listening in on their conversation.

"Let's do this somewhere else, my chambers yes?"

"Sounds fine to me". Nahamani nodded firmly and stood up. Beth waited for her to walk to her front before she followed slowly behind her. Before they could reach the door however, a voice called to them.

"Master Nahamani". The two superior angels halted and turned to the direction on the voice. The sour expressions on their faces showed they were not pleased to see the person before them.

"Carshena…what a surprise". Nahamani said slowly, her eyes narrowing. The former bowed her head.

"It has been quite a while". She said, her voice steady and stoic. Nahamani almost rolled her eyes.

"Ahh yes, it has been". The angels then went into a moment of silence.

Carshena stared right at them, not taking her eyes off and Nahamani did the same while Beth's eyes darted between them both. The tension in the room was getting thicker and the room suddenly felt empty and small despite the presence of over a hundred angels.

Finally, Nahamani broke her eyes from the stare and scoffed lightly, she would have sworn for a moment that Carshena smirked in response.

"What do you want?"

Carshena shrugged.

"I just wanted to say hello". Beth's anger doubled and her golden irises widened.

"Well, you've said it. Anything else?" Carshena stared at her.

"No, that is all". Nahamani then clapped her hands and forced a smile on her lips.

"Then, I must take my leave. I have important matters to discuss". Carshena nodded and smiled.

"I understand". Then she walked away.

Beth and Nahamani watched her walk away before they exited the hall. The didn't speak to each other, not until they got to Nahamani's home.

"How dare she?!"

"Beth, be ca--"

"She deserted us when we needed her the most, when we all needed her and now she shows her face with pride to say hello like we are friends".

"Beth, please calm yourself. I do not want you to be stressed over something as minor as that".

"But…"

"We won the battle didn't we, thanks to the most high. If anyone should be ashamed it's her. Let's not waste time on this please". Nahamani explained. Beth sighed and nodded.

"I understand and I am sorry".

"Its fine". Nahamani sat on a chair close to a well designed window.

"Back to out conversation earlier".

"We must let her train". Beth quickly said.

"No, we must not let her train". Nahamani replied.

"Why not? She can't just stay like that, you know she's a very key weapon against Lucifer". Beth argued, Nahamani stared up at her when she heard the name. "Actually, she is the only key".

The two angels went silent after this. It had been so long before she or any other angel revisited the tragic battle that occurred in heaven. It was almost like it never happened because of the rebuilding of the holy kingdom. Lucifer was a being that was etched at the back of their minds, a little flee they couldn't get out of their head but yet they all longed to forget him. It was an impossible task though, since he was happily roaming earth like he owned it.

"I have to protect her". Nahamani finally spoke out.

"You can't do that if she's indoor all the time. She needs to fight Nahamani, how else would she defeat him".

"I DON'T WANT HER TO FIGHT!" Nahamani yelled. Beth was taken aback by her outburst and she frowned.

"Don't act like a child, she's not yours. She was brought here for a reason and you are not letting her do what she came here to do. I know Lucifer hasn't attacked but when he will, she must be ready. At this rate, she'll die".

"She's a living weapon remember? She'll be able to fend him off".

"Nahamani! This is rubbish talk. No matter how strong and gifted you are, you need to train yourself to be better, to maintain the gift. You are not protecting her at all. Do not fail the master". Beth said to her. Both of them were standing near each other now, their faces very close. They were breathing heavily and their fists were clenched. None of them wanted to give in to the other.

"I cannot lose her". Nahamani said. Beth sighed.

"Nahamani…"

"Because of that, you'll train her. Make her strong, I know she wants it. I know it's the right thing to do".

Beth almost jumped on her in excitement.

"I will do my best, she'll be a great warrior". She said bowing slightly. Nahamani nodded.

"Yes, I know". She said. "But first, we need to tell her about the promise. We can't train her harder than the others if she has no idea who she is". Beth nodded in agreement.

"We'll hold a meeting then. I hope she'll be open to what we have to say".

"She has no choice. Like you said we don't know when he'll strike again. We…I have already wasted enough time".

I hope she's ready.

"You have to call her now, no more time wasting". Nahamani said. Beth nodded and bowed before exiting the room. As she walked, she tried to sense the angel but she couldn't.

Unlike the rest of them, if she wanted to disappear and hide, Azaliah had the power to mask her self from others. Beth then concluded that she had gone to a place she didn't want anyone to know. She later spread her wings and flew to the air to get a better view. It was then she saw Aleph, the clumsy guardian of Azaliah walk into the temple of *zeker. She narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

What was he doing there?

She waited for a while to see if he would come out on time but then she heard a large clang on the floors that rang in her ears. She frowned and flew to the temple and her eyes widened when she saw Azaliah staring passionately at the walls.

Aleph was also doing the same.

She had never seen anyone interested in the events of Lucifer for a long time. When did this happen? Why did she not say anything?

"So, you were watching it again?" She heard Aleph ask. Again?! What did he mean again?

Beth then decided to make her presence known.

"Azaliah I want to talk to you". She said. The shocks on their faces made her even more curious about their visits to the temple. She looked at Aleph and the jar that was unfortunate to be in his hands, she narrowed her eyes at him. "If that jar breaks, I will replace it with you".

That should scare him for a while.
