24 Further Along

After the doctor wiped away the cool jelly she'd placed on my belly, she turned and smiled at me. "Everything looks good so far. Your baby is health and I'll prescribe some prenatal vitamin's to keep it that way. Your due date should be," She paused looking back at the screen and said. "anytime in the last week of October." Wait, October? But that meant I was further along then I was first told.

I was almost six weeks pregnant.

"Relax here a moment, I'll have a nurse get your meds and maybe you'd like to get changed while I'm gone." The doctor said spinning in her chair and leaving the room, so I could put my clothes back on.

Everything was such a shock today, it might even be more than I could handle. Lena seemed to be doing fine after the attack but I wouldn't know for sure until I saw her in person. My mother took to my first appointment, and wasn't a bitch about it. The experience was surreal, and to top it off I was further along than I expected. I was to be a mother to living breathing child even sooner than I expected or had been lead to believe.

Doctor Clark, knocked twice on the door before asking if she could come in, quickly pulling up my soft black cotton bell bottom trousers.

"Sure." I said sitting down to put on my shoes. Doctor Clark shut the door with a gentle click and turned to hand me a white paper bag with my prescription. "Thank you." I say slipping the meds into my bag. "I'll be going then." She nodded in response walking me out and telling how I shouldn't stress and get as much rest as I can.

Church. Mother had suddenly requested we head over to Pastor Joan's fundraiser at the local church. Me… the unmarried pregnant woman, going to the same church as Charlotte Andersons super judgy friends right after the appointment. I bet everyone already knew how mother and I spent our morning, they knew about my Ob-gyn appointment and they were already up and gossiping about me and my life over brunch. Great, just freaking great. I almost yelled at my mother for not thinking it through and taking me to the closest hospital instead of one in another state. Or country!

The second we'd gotten in the car, she'd sprung this on me. How she'd forgotten of about Joan's event today, most likely due to me dropping the pregnancy thing on her in the middle of the might. But come on, I don't want to spend my precious time with her pretentious friends. I told her as much.

"Its on the way home Sophia, and its for charity. We won't stay long, I promise." She then proceed to tell the driver to head to the church. No, just long enough for me to confirm I've become the talk of the town.

A shiver ran's down my spine just thinking about it.

"You can go, I'm tired so I'll be heading home to rest." Turning to look out the window as we pull away from the hospital, I could have swear I felt someone watching me, but as I looked around I saw nothing. Those men hadn't found me again had they? No. They were gone Lucifer took care of it.

Like he took care of you?
