Henry opened his eyes only to be greeted by a large, black, and white speckled nose along with a salmon-colored tongue calmly licking his face. He blinked looking up towards the two golden amber eyes staring back at him. Traveling up there were two large and fluffy ears one straight up and one fallen over at the tip. Reaching his hand up he took one of the ears in between his fingers and smiled once he received a deep "woof" as a response. "What buddy? Does someone want some breakfast?" Henry asked the large german shepherd began wagging his tail furiously and hopping on and off of the bed.

Heaving himself off of his mattress he took a deep breath and grumbled hearing the small pops emitting from his back as he reached up in a stretching manner. Enjoying the feeling he didn't realize immediately that a long furry tail was hitting the side of his hip. Looking down he saw his dog's face grinning up at him with a mouth full of pearly white teeth gleaming from the light coming in from the window. Opening his door Henry made his way through the halls, down the stairs, and into the kitchen where he started making his breakfast consisting of eggs, toast, and a glass of milk.

Grabbing a pan and placing it on the stove he turned it up after grabbing a carton of eggs and some butter from the fridge. Letting the eggs sizzle on the hot surface of the pan Henry walked over to the two steel dog bowls sitting in front of a sliding door leading to the outside. Opening the bag of dog food leaning against the counter he grabbed the scooping cup and poured some of it into one of the bowls. The hard bits of kibble made a loud clanking noise as they bounced off of the steel and each other. Henry chuckled watching the dog scramble up hearing the clanking and darted towards the bowl scarfing down the kibble with a wag.

Patting the dog's back, Henry gave off a smirk of pure happiness watching it take a few bites of food and then a drink. Walking back to the stove he shoveled his finished eggs onto his plate and took it along with his glass of milk to the table facing a window. Taking a few bites of his food he glanced outside and sighed watching the autumn leaves dance across his backyard that lead into a thicket of bushes and beyond that a large span of forest. He smiled watching a group of house finch land in the middle of the yard all chirping and pecking at the ground looking for their own breakfast. Seeing those birds reminded him of when he was younger and just fresh out of high school on his way to the Military Processing Station to finally enlist his way into the army.
