1 A New Start

"Good day freshmen! I am your college organization's president, Matt. I will be the one who will give you a glimpse of what to expect in our degree program. I hope you will enjoy your stay in our college. Padayon College of Engineering!" our president said.

"Padayon, CET!" We all shouted.

"In engineering, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers are separated by a thin line. Being an aspirant mechanical engineer, knowledge in other fields is crucial." Matt discussion about the topic started.

I looked around as the topic goes on. I have no one whom I know amongst my classmates, but I have friends who are on the same department yet unfortunately we were not in the same class.

As I looked around, I saw them far from my seat. I am seated together with my classmates on class A they are on class D. They smiled at me as they saw me and pointed to someone.

I looked where they were pointing, and I saw a girl.

She has fair skin, a pretty smile, and soulful eyes. She smiles as she listens to Matt, our president.

She is indeed a beauty, and I know my friends were eyeing her as well.

There are no other girls in the room who are pretty, but she stands out amongst the crowd.

I had not noticed that I stared at her and was not able to comprehend what was being discussed.

I smiled as I was mesmerized by her beauty. My eyes cannot be taken off of her.

She looked around. I got nervous when we locked eyes. Maybe she notices that someone was staring at her reason for her to look around.

She smiles at me, and my heart skips a beat. Love at first sight is so foolish idea, but I think I am fool now.

I was in awe. I do not know how I look when she sees me and when she smile at me.

"Close your mouth bro." my seatmate jokingly pushes my shoulder.

With that, I realized I looked awful when she looked at me. I close my mouth and look at her again. She was still looking at me with a smile on her face. I nodded at her and smiled at her back. She nodded as well acknowledging me before she focused on what is in front.

"She is a beauty, right?" my seatmate says.

"Yes, a real beauty." I replied to him.

"She is single if you want to know. She has been single for 2 years now. Real beauty and brain. Frank by the way." My seatmate replies which name is Frank.

"Jayvee is the name bro. Nice to meet you. How do you know that? Do you have a crush on her?" I asked cautiously because he seemed knowledgeable to her.

"Oh no, she is Meajie. I am her friend since secondary school." Frank replied.

I felt relieved knowing that they are only friends, and she is single at the moment.

The session runs for 3 hours. I was thankful that there were no questions for the students like we were reciting. I will be dumbfounded if ever there is any. I was not able to listen attentively throughout as my attention kept on going to her.

I noticed her every movement. She is so classy and elegant. I was surprised that someone is pulling me after the session.

There I saw Frank pulling me closer to her, closer to Meajie.

"Hi, Meaj!" Frank cheerfully greeted her as I only smiled at her.

"Hey, you are too friendly Frank. You already made a new friend here." She teasingly punched Franks arm.

"Meaj this is Jayvee. Jayvee this is Meajie my long-time friend." Frank introduces us.

"Hi." I shyly offered my hands for her, and she gladly took it.

"You got another plan Frank?" She asked him after pulling her hands off mine.

"Nope. None at all. I am going with you, we have lunch out, right?" He replied as I was looking back and forth at them as they talk.

They talked about their plans as I saw my friends nearing us. I waited for my friend to excuse me in our crowd and I was glad that they did.

"Hi guys. I am Mike. Do you mind if I excused my friend, Jayvee?" Mike Courtesy got their attention.

"Oh, sorry about that. Sure, no worries. Nice meeting you Jayvee and Mike." She told us.

"See you next week bro. It will surely be an eventful school year for us." Frank knowingly winks at me. I think he knows that I am interested in his friend.

Days after our first encounter. Meajie and I became close.

We are in the same group of friends now, together with Frank.

We hang out at times when our schedule permits us to do so.

We became closer together.

We talk at night.

She became clingy on me.

She became open about her past relationship which did not work.

She got a boyfriend in her senior days in her previous school. They were together for 2 years, but things did not work well for them, and they eventually broke up.

She became aware that I myself came from a relationship of 1 year which also did not work for me.

She has been single for 2 years now.

I have been single for 3 years now.

I do not know but there is this mutual understanding between us like we have something special for each other.

We were always together alone.

She holds my hands.

I put my hands on her shoulder.

We were sweet to each other.

Some of our classmates asked us if we were together and we did not answer them with confirmation nor denial. We just always smile at them without saying a word.

We have not talked yet what was the real score between us, but she assures me that she was exclusively mine and so I am with her.

I want to ask her to be mine officially and exclusively, but I am still waiting for the right time.

If I was to start a new romantic relationship; it would be her.

I want to be with her.

I want to start my university life with her and achieve our professional dreams together.
