Arielle And Her Animals

Ronan continued to caress Arielle's palm until there was a knock on the princess' bedroom door. The man panted slightly as he removed Arielle's hand from his lips.

Ronan also blushed when he saw Arielle's blushing face. Ronan wanted those lips. His face was brought closer, but the knocking sounded again, which made Ronan cancel his intention.

His initial intention to tease the girl actually made him lose control of himself. Ronan kissed Arielle's cheek lightly. He felt guilty for making Arielle uncomfortable.

"Sorry if I overdid it," he said quietly.

Arielle didn't reply, she was still too confused about what had happened. This was the weirdest thing she'd ever experienced. Her heart was beating very fast. Her face felt hot. And for some reason, she got embarrassed to be watched closely by the man in front of her.

Ronan got up and took out a white handkerchief from his pocket. He cleaned her palm. One could clearly see the bite marks there.

"I'll have William bring the rabbit family here. Now, warm up first."

Ronan stroked Arielle's reddened cheek. He grabbed his mask, which he had thrown away and then put it back on. Ronan thus left Arielle alone. The girl took a deep breath of relief. She held her chest, which now beat at a fast rhythm.

"What happened?" asked Arielle in surprise.

She looked at her palm, and there were bite marks on it. Again her face heated up as she remembered what Ronan did. She gripped Ronan's handkerchief tightly as the bedroom door opened. Arielle then smiled and welcomed Tania to hide her nervousness.

Tania came with a dinner trolley for Arielle. She was a little worried seeing the girl's red face.

"Princess, do you have a fever?"

"Me? I don't think so," answered Arielle.

A worried Tania approached and put her palm on Arielle's neck. The girl was indeed warm. Maybe this was the result of playing in the snow? Lucas mentioned earlier that before they returned to the palace, Arielle played in the snow until all her clothes were wet.

Tania also saw Arielle, who had shivered so much in the cold while she was in the king's arms.

"You should change your clothes immediately."

Arielle became silent as an answer which allowed Tania to do whatever it was to take care of the princess. Whether it was to help her change into warmer clothes, or add firewood in the fireplace, to wash Arielle's face with warm water.

Tania didn't want her master to catch a cold.

"How could you play in the snow here? The climate is already very cold," said Tania as she prepared dinner for the princess.

"I didn't play in the snow," Arielle replied defensively.

"Then?"

Arielle got up from her warm blanket. She circled her room and walked over to the curtains by the glass window. She crouched in the corner of the room and lifted a rabbit with white fur that was as white as snow.

Tania was speechless. She put her hands on her waist and narrowed her eyes slightly which made Arielle laugh at her.

"You took an animal to care again?" asked Tania. "Oh, Princess..."

Arielle nodded and kissed the furry animal fondly.

"This is your bad habit of taking just any animal to care for." Tania could only shake her head, seeing the princess and her new pet.

Arielle couldn't argue with Tania because it was reality. She did have a bad habit of taking in animals to care for. Arielle sighed.

When she wanted to turn around with the rabbit, Arielle saw a crowd in the gardens of the Whitethorn palace.

"Hey...!" Arielle opened the balcony door and surprised Tania. The woman immediately took the princess's thick coat to hand over to her.

"Princess, don't forget your coat. It's freezing outside!"

In the gardens of the Whitethorn palace, Arielle saw several knights were preoccupied. All of them ran after some white furballs, like the rabbit in her arms. Meanwhile, by the fountain, stood the king who had absolutely no intention of helping his knights.

Arielle bit her lip to hold back a laugh when she saw William, who had fallen into a pile of snow. It reminded her of herself.

Ronan didn't seem at all impressed or willing to help. William got up and then turned to Ronan, who looked away as if he didn't see William who had just fallen. A knight managed to catch one of the rabbits and put it in a basket near the king's feet.

William looked up towards the balcony of Princess Arielle's room and found the princess standing there. He realized that she was holding another rabbit while she was on her balcony.

Ronan followed William's gaze. He saw Tania come out in a hurry to put a coat on the princess. Even from quite a distance, he knew Arielle was looking at him. The girl bowed respectfully and then entered her room.

"Didn't you tell me last year to throw them into the forest?" asked William. He was annoyed that he had to catch the rabbits that were jumping nimbly to avoid him.

"I don't like being asked. Just do as I tell you to," Ronan replied flatly.

William pouted in annoyance.

"Yes, yes, yes, Your Majesty," he grumbled.

In the room, Arielle took the rabbit to the bed with her. Tania also took Arielle's dinner and fed it to the girl. Arielle didn't refuse and opened her mouth docilely.

"This reminds me of your childhood, Princess," said Tania. She finally chuckled slightly as she gazed at the rabbit who was so comfortable resting on Arielle's lap.

"Ah, when I told the story of a knight to my chicks long ago?"

Tania nodded. "That was also when I was feeding you."

Arielle continued to stroke the soft white fur. Tania was always amazed by her master's ability to calm the animals she touched. Since childhood, the girl could always attract animals.

"You have a lot of animal friends," Tania commented and made Arielle laugh.

"Right," she replied.

Tania fed Arielle again and smoothed the shiny white hair to tuck it behind her ear.

"Do you remember what animals you have saved? Apart from you being a surrogate mother for the chicks."

Arielle laughed so loudly that the rabbit on her lap jolted in surprise. The rabbit jumped off the bed. His little feet leaped towards the warm fireplace and then rolled up on the carpet. Arielle who now stared at it couldn't help but just look. She didn't want to disturb the little white's sleep.

"Um… the chicks were first, then we took care of a cat that was hit by Princess Andrea's carriage, right?"

"That's right, poor Thomas. Too bad he had to leave us so soon."

Arielle was saddened to remember that Thomas, the first cat that she cared for with all her heart for months, had to die quickly because it accidentally ate rat poison. Arielle found the gray cat with a bloody wound on its leg as a result of being hit by her sister's carriage.

Arielle swiftly ran to save the cat and brought it to Tania. The two of them treated its wounds with care. Arielle also often shared milk with Thomas… Too bad he died young.

"Then do you remember the pig I named Piggy, Tania?"

"Oh, that greedy one," said Tania laughing.

"Piggy's really grown up," Arielle said enthusiastically.

"But we had to sell it to buy you a new dress for Prince Archie's birthday..."

"Right, I hope he doesn't snatch another pig's food in his new pen."

Arielle remembered the little birds that always came every morning to her room. There were always five birds perched on her window every time Arielle woke up. If the girl didn't wake up on time, the five of them tapped their beaks against the glass window until Arielle came and sprinkled sesame seeds for the five.

"I hope they can forage well," muttered Arielle.

"Who?"

"The birds that often come in the morning."

"Oh, they…"

Now it added one more reason that made Arielle want to return to Nieverdell. She missed her little friends.
