239 Arielle's Tears

"This… is not fair," said Arielle, who had found her courage.

Alexis folded his arms to listen to Arielle. Her breath started to hitch. Her chest rose and fell rapidly. Arielle bit her lower lip hard to keep herself from getting carried away with emotion.

"All of you have seen my mother and still called me an illegitimate child and a witch child. If you guys hate me and my mother that much, why didn't you throw me away a long time ago? Why do you keep locking me up in the palace?"

Alexis was silent. The man rose from his chair. Again this was all he could do. He didn't reply to Arielle's confrontation but went away.

"I… don't even know my own mother's face. I never felt the warmth of a father's embrace. I don't even know what sin my mother has committed to you, but you poured all your hatred on me. This is so unfair and stifling…"

Alexis stood still and glanced back slightly.
