CHAPTER TWO

Waking up early has never been a thing of mine so I wasn't surprised when I opened my eyes to the full glare of the sun shining through my bedroom window. Shaking off my drowsiness I went about my morning or rather afternoon business thinking of how tedious the coming days will be for me considering how terrible my sleeping habit is. After washing up and packing up the basic things I need I looked around my room to see if there is anything I'm forgetting only to find out that my bed is the only thing I will miss the most and since I can't stuff it inside my bag I decided to bid my home farewell despite not having any fun or happy memories in the house I still find comfort in the fact that I can at least come back to something if this new phase of my life doesn't work out. Stepping outside I look at the surrounding houses that look similar to my modest two-bedroom apartment basking in the sunlight and breathing in the fresh air I lock up my house which by the way is the only thing my parents or rather ex parents left me not that I am complaining however considering their status this house means nothing to them. Taking comfort in the fact that it is a new day and opportunities await me I started walking to the palace where I got selected as one of the numerous girls who might be selected by one of the royals to serve them. There is a high possibility of me not being selected at all but being able to come this far is a big deal for me and I wanted to share it with my mom with the hope that she just this once will look at me in a different light however instead of giving her the news of me passing the first stage of selection I was the one who got the biggest news of my life. Shaking off my sad and depressing thought I continued on my journey to the palace. Looking around the trees standing proud and tall. Admiring the sunlight as it breaks into beautiful colors around me with the melodious sound of birds singing I felt lighter and hummed to myself as I memorize what I know of this beautiful kingdom.
The magical realm is divided into five kingdoms, Raviel is known for their warriors and tactics as well as weapon. Xevaria is known for their craftmanship as well as potions. Thanbra is known for entertainment and archery. Grathen though the smallest is known for being peaceful as well as farming. The kingdom of Aegalia is said to be the most prosperous, peaceful, and developed throughout the five kingdoms. and it is situated very far from the other four kingdoms meaning it shares boundaries with no one, making it the largest kingdom throughout the realm with its land stretching as far as the eyes can see with mountains and lakes surrounding it and at the four corners of the kingdom are positioned four sentinel wolves who keep enemies out while protecting the people of Aegalia. It is said that the first king of Aegalia king Alaric fell in love with princess Theodora princess of the kingdom of Raviel. Aegalia was just a simple and small kingdom then so the king of Raviel was opposed to the relationship in a bid to stop king Alaric from marrying his daughter the king declared war on Aegalia with the condition that if king Alaric can go to war with his kingdom and still protect the people of Aegalia he will personally give his daughter's hand in marriage to him. Back then the kingdom of Raviel was well known for its strong warriors and battle tactics while in comparison Aegalia is just a small kingdom with farmers and healers. At crossroads, king Alaric decided to take not just his warriors but all able-bodied men in the kingdom with him to fight the war leaving behind women and children as well as the weak and aged people. However, the king could talk to animals so he went and asked the animals for help due to the kind and peaceful nature of the king all animals loved him and were willing to help. The wolves agreed to keep watch over the kingdom while the king was at war. During the war, the king fought bravely and helped saved a lot of animals who aided him not to mention that his magical abilities are unmatched throughout the five kingdoms whilst the war was going on in the battlefield the king of Raviel sent some soldiers to Aegalia to go claim the kingdom, on getting there they met the wolves and was defeated. The war ended with Aegalia victorious. The tale of King Alaric defeating the kingdom of Raviel as well as his magical prowess and his affinity with animals spread throughout the five kingdoms making him famous and his kingdom feared. King Alaric got married to princess Theodora and together they made Aegalia a kingdom to be reckoned with. It is said that king Alaric and Queen Theodora lived long and fruitful lives and ruled with love and kindness thus bringing peace and prosperity to the kingdom they both died together and on their death bed not wanting the kingdom to fall into despair they blessed their children as well as their descendants that the throne will not leave the family and if ever a time comes when doubt arises on who should sit on the throne the king and Queen combined their powers and cast a spell on the kings special crown that it will only be worn by the true descendant of Alaric and the person must be selfless, just, noble, kind and above all must be someone with unmatched abilities. So as not to cause a problem the crown will only appear when there is a problem on who is to sit on the throne and every member of the royal family, as well as those aspiring to sit on the throne, will be made to try and wear the crown the person who successfully wears the crown is the true leader of Aegalia and as an afterthought, Queen Theodora cast a spell on her special crown and said that if ever a time like that comes her crown will find the soulmate of the wearer
of the king's crown and she will be the Queen. The spell will only work if the wearers of the crown are worthy. After blessing the kingdom the king and Queen passed on and the crowns disappeared. To commemorate the legacy of the king, the animals left four wolves to keep guard of the kingdom as a tribute to the king. No one knows if the wolves stationed at the four corners are the same wolves from the story or not all everyone knows is that four wolves have always keep guard. With the passing of the king and Queen their first son took over and the kingdom kept flourishing
