CHAPTER THIRTY

Cleon and i walk around the fey dwelling, it was night time already but to my surprise i saw some of the tress glowing, not the trees but the fruit of the trees.

Cleon took me past some of the trees and a little bit away from the fey dwelling. And here i could see what seems to be a cluster of the luminaberry trees. The sight is simply breathtaking.

Cleon this is magical i breathed out.

Luminaberries are known for their radiant glow, that is seen more clearly at night, and their ability to enhance magical properties when consumed. Legends say they're favored by certain woodland fey creatures for their ethereal qualities and potent magic. As for me, i love them for their unique taste, Cleon said.

Now i need to taste them as well, if they look this magical i really can't wait to find out what they taste like.

Trust me Evelinde you will fall in love with them, it's just sad that one can't get them always. That's why whenever they are in bloom, i make good use of the little time i have with them.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha, you are starting to sound like someone obsessed, I laughed and tease Cleon. But Cleon, if it taste so good and also have magical properties, why are we the only ones here? i mean i expect this place to be filled with people fighting to pluck them.

The Fey's are peaceful and secretive, plus our beloved people think that the fey's are below them and whatever it is they have can not equate to what they can produce. Though this tree is in Aegalia, however it is something that soleley grows in places where you can find fey's. They plant and tend to it and when they leave the tree dies. In other words you can say it's fey magic, it is only a rare and select few outside of the feys that can fully utilize the magic of the luminaberry.

Hmmmmm, i'm guessing you are among this few, correct?

You can say that, Cleon said with a shrug. I was about to say something, when we heard hurried footsteps up ahaed.

Cleon placed a finger on his mouth in a shushing gesture, and muttered a spell. I've placed an invisibility spell around us, so no one can see us, however we have to be quiet, he said in a whisper to me. I nodded my head in understanding as we both carefully watched our step and moved closer to where the sound is coming from.

You shouldn't be here Cedric, It is risky and dangerous what if someone sees you, how will you explain being here?

I miss you Syl, why are you acting as if you are not happy to see me?

That's not it Ced, and you know it. You are putting the both of us at risk, it's better i come see you than you coming here to see me.

But i don't want you risking yourself all the time for us Syl, i also want to do something for you. This whole thing is driving me crazy, why can't we be together for everyone to see, why can't i hold your hand in public and be with you openly, why must we keep our love a secret? i'm not ashamed of you or our love.

I know Cedric, but you have to understand, this is bigger than the both of us. If my family finds out about us, you won't see me ever again they will make sure of it. However if your family find out, the whole fey community will be in grave danger. So please understand, you have to be careful. I promise to come see you whenever i am free, but for now you really have to go.

I just can't believe what i'm seeing, i watched as Cedric and the Fey look at each other in what looks like a standoff.

Fine, i heard Cedric finally say. I will go, take care of yourself, Cedric said as he leaned in and kissed the fey on the lips before pulling away and walking into the darkness. I watched as the fey looked at his back longingly before turning around and walking away.

I heard Cleon say something, probably lifting the invisibility spell.

Evelinde, are you okay? i heard Cleon say after some time.

I don't know Cleon, i mean i didn't imagine that did i? you also saw it too, yes?

It seems your friend is in a relationship with Sylvan.

Sylvan?

Yes the boy with your friend and i'm guessing he's the same fey you told me about, his name is Sylvan and he is Elowen's son.

What!? i whisper yelled.

Yes, i know this is bad on all angles, Cleon said with what i can only assume to be a thinking expression.

I always felt their interaction was too intimate, but this is huge.

You don't like the fact that your friend is in love with someone of the same sex? Cleon asked.

I thought about his question for a while.

I find it strange and unusual, since it's something i'm not used to. However i'm not against it, it's not as if they are harming anyone. As long as he is happy as a friend all i can do is be happy for him as well. Just because their love is unusual that doesn't make it wrong or bad. I mean take a look at us we are strange and ununsual in fact the whole kingdom is against us, but that doesn't make us bad, yes?

Evelinde, your friend is human, and Sylvan is Fey. Their families would never approve. Not to mention that both families hold prominent position.

Their love, faces not only societal condemnation but also places both of their families in a precarious position. Even their friendship is forbidden, let alone a romantic entanglement. If word were to spread, it could spell disaster for the Feys especially.

So what do you think about their love Cleon?

Their love may be unconventional, but it is no less valid, Cleon said.

What are we to do then Cleon?

For now, we can only hope no one other than us finds out, and Sylvan is right your friend needs to be careful for both their sake.

Ever since i met you Cleon, my life has been drama filled. It is from one thing to the other. I mean, we have the issue of the mysterious strangers to deal with and not to mention the issue you have going on with the rest of the kingdom and now all of a suden this.

Oh please Evelinde, spare me the theatrics. Besides you and i know you are going nowhere so why don't you be productive and help me pick some luminaberries.

Hmmmmmmm, a girl needs to vent your royal princeliness, i said as i help Cleon pick the berries and put in a bag.
