CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Cleon and i arrived at the throne room only this time it has been re-arranged again to fit the royal family and council members.

My father was present as well as Borak and master Flynn. Borak was sitting close to a man and a woman whom i can only assume to be his parents.

I bowed to the royal family in greeting.

Father you sent for me came Cleon's voice.

What have you been up to lately Cleon?

Nothing father, just the usual.

And by usual, do you mean causing chaos?

I have no idea what you are talking about father.

Why don't you explain to us then how you were able to instruct your compananion to brew a perfect rejuvenation potion, something you haven't been taught before and how you knocked out Borak with a glass of water?

Father i don't know what you want me to say.

I want you to tell me the truth Cleon that's what i want.

Everyone here has magic some more powerful than the others. One don't need to know how to make a potion before hand to make it perfect. As long as you know what you are doing making a perfect potion is not a big issue. As for my Altercation with Borak it is true that i gave him ordinary water however i spelled the water so that's why he fell asleep.

So you are saying you cast a sleeping spell on the water you gave Borak?

Yes father.

Flynn.

My king.

Have you or any of the other teachers taught the kids any sleeping spell?

None that i'm aware of my king.

So tell me Cleon how do you come about this spell of yours, who taught you?

No one father.

So you are trying to tell everyone present here today that you single handedly taught yourself a spell.

Yes father.

And you want us to believe you?

What other answer where you expecting father, i have no friends and no one ever talks to me so who else do you think will teach me?

So you are admiiting that you use your dark magic on a fellow student is that it? Asked the queen.

Cleon said nothing.

The queen asked you a question Cleon, answer her.

I have nothing else to say father.

If that's all you have to say, then maybe some time alone in the dungeon will help in straightening you out.

My king i said standing beside Cleon, i think it's unfair to punish Cleon. Given that they are two parties involved in this and Borak was not forced or compelled by Cleon to do anything. And since when is it wrong for someone to practice hard and excel in his or her craft? What Cleon did by learning and mastering a spell all by himself should be applauded not considered or seen as evil. Borak did not die neither was he hurt. The only thing of Borak's that was hurt is quite frankly his pride and if you ask me he had it coming since he has been all over Cleon's case.

I could here gasps and murmur all around me, all of which i choose to ignore.

Cleon has no friend or anyone that speaks to him, in fact everyone avoids him like the plague so i can assure you that whatever he said is the truth. The two days i've lived with him, he's either talking to himself or his plants.

Quite frankly i think you all are allowing your fear of what you think he might or might not be capable of cloud your judgement.

It is highly direspecting that a prince of Aegalia would be thrown into the dungeon because of an altercation he had with a citizen of Aegalia be it nobility or otherwise. If the prince is at fault then him being punished is understanable however Cleon did nothing to be punished.

Regardless of what you all think of him, Cleon is and always will be a prince of this kingdom.

And as for you Borak i don't know what your problem with Cleon is exactly but he is not proud or boastful he is who he claims he is. His status and position is his birthright and he is entitled to everything that comes with that poition.

My king i know i have spoken out of turn but i said what i said. If you want to punish me throw me in the same dungeon with Cleon cos wherever he goes i go.

Well well well, you have a believer Cleon.

Caleb?

My king.

Is this not the child you cut all ties with?

She is my king, and just like you said i have no ties whatsoever with her.

My father's response was hurtful, but i will survive.

You did the right thing Caleb.

Child i don't know whatever spell he has cast on you since he has proven himself to be quite the spellcaster, but i do hope you don't end up hurt or dead because nothing good can ever come with you associating yourself with him. In your childishness you might see all this as we being unfair to him but in reality we are protecting ourseives.

Guards take the both of them to the dungeon the sorcerers just spelled.

I watched as four guards appraoched us.

You shouldn't have wasted my time with all those questions if you've already made up your mind to throw me in the dungeon; Cleon said to the king as the guards took us away.

What do we do now my king; asked queen Cassia.

Council, any ideas?

If i may my king.

Yes Byron.

My king, Borak my son as we all know is one of the best potion maker we've seen in recent years, yet not even he could stand against the prince. I don't think this bode well for the rest of our children if even the best amongst them is no match to him.

Flynn you yourself told me the rejuvenation potion he instructed his companion to make is the best you have ever seen.

Yes Byron, my King it is indeed true the potion Eve brewed is the best there is.

My king, Flynn is attesting to the potency of the potion that the girl Eve brewed, now what will the one the prince brew look like?

Now we all heard him say he spelled an ordinary water, that rendered Borak unconcsious.

Borak did you hear him say any spell or incantation?

No father i didn't.

No one heard him say a spell or an incantation yet he spelled the water he gave to my son.

My king it has been years we've heard or seen anything like this. And those were not good times in our history. I suggest we think of a way to tackle this issue before it gets out of hand.

My king.

Margaret you may speak.

My king, i agree with Byron. My son Cedric's demonstration was the best anyone in Aegalia can do yet a girl who discovered just days ago she has abilities was able to best him.

If she can boldly and courageously stand and defend the prince's action just two days of knowing each other, i fear for the rest of us.

My king,

Tyron.

My king while i agree with what everyone is saying i also want to remind us that the feast of enchantment is days away, and we need to be focusing on that right now. The prince's issue is one of importance i know but we can't have the prince fighting against us when we have the other four kingdoms visiting us. For all her stupidity and childishness the girl Eve is right when she said the prince is and always will be a prince of this kingdom.

We need to be vigilant and watchful of our visitors for we all here know how the other kingdoms are envious of us and will do anything to see our ruin. Fighting amongst ourselves with visitors in our midst we only make us look weak to them.

That is true Tyron, but what are we to do with Cleon until then.

My king we can leave him in the dungeon for two days at least that will help tame him after which we will let him out. Then after the feast we all will gather again to think of a way to permanently handle him but for now Aegalia needs to be triumphant in the up coming feast. We have to show the other kingdoms why we shouldn't be messed with to deter anyone from planning an attack.

Flynn

My king

Make sure our children are well prepared for the feast, we need them at their best and please no accidents.

Yes my king.

Agatha

My king

I leave the preparations of the feast in your care.

Byron and Tyron

My king

Take the sorceres and fortify our walls and defences we don't want any surprises.

Margaret as usual i will rely on you to pick and train the best elementals.

As you please my king.

The rest of us will pitch in where we can so if any of you need help do not hesitate to ask of it.

Meeting dismissed.
