CHAPTER ELEVEN

The next day in the classroom.


Borak i see you are fine now said Cleon as we walked into the classroom.

Cleon allowed me to sleep a bit longer thus making us late. Thankfully master Flynn is not here yet. I saw Borak's servant standing close to him with his eyes downward, good hopefully he has learnt not to entertain thoughts that are shameful and degrading.

I folllowed Cleon to our spot where we both sat down. I could feel the hatred and animosity being channelled our way, not that i care.

Cleon you really should apologize to Borak for your behaviour yesterday.

Astrid, sister mine and why should i do that?

Because you were at fault and it is the right thing to do.

At fault you say? Well maybe you are right, it is my fault but you see the thing is i won't apologise.

Let it go Astrid, said Casper.


The door opened and Master Flynn walked in.

Good morning everyone, after yesterday's event, he said looking towards our direction briefly. We will be making a rejuvenation potion today.


To brew a rejuvenation potion, you need the following ingredients and follow the recipe well, but feel free to use close substitutes if required.
- 4 pinches of Black Flower
- 1 handful of Emerald Tea Leaf
- 2 bits of Knot Hyssop
- 1 pinch of Mellow Sumac

Smash the Black Flower for a good few minutes or until you're bored and put it into a cup. Add a little bit of water to turn it into what's now basically dirty water, or tea, then add the Emerald Tea Leaf in tiny amounts at a time.
Fill a pan with iced steam, add the mixture and bring it to a boil as fast as you can. Let it cool down to the body temperature of a reptile before adding the Knot Hyssop. Gently warm up the mixture once more, mix in the Mellow Sumac and let everything cool down and rest.

Cedric thank you, said Master Flynn as Cedric placed the last ingredients and instructrion on our table while giving me a look i can only decipher as we need to talk.

I looked at the ingredients and couldn't help but be fascinated at the things in front of me. Even i have to admit that ever since coming to the palace things haven't quite been how i imagined it to be. Who am i kidding this is above and beyond my expectation.

I started brewing the potion while following the instructions and besides me sat Cleon with his legs crossed on top of the desk and his eyes closed, of cause i know he is not sleeping.

After three hours of trying to brew the potion but failing miserably, i finally looked around me to see that i'm not the only one having issues brewing the potion not even Borak who supposedly happens to be the best at potion making has gotten it right. Although i have to admit that he is the only one whose potion has not blown on his face or looking like a mudpie the later of which resembles what i have brewing.

Hey i heard Cedric say as he came to stand beside me.

Hey to you too.

Having troubles?

Yes, i can't seem to get it right i said letting my frustration slip out.

Well, you will get it eventually, so Martha has been asking me about you and i told her i will let you know. If you are free we can go see her.

Sure i would like to eat her pancakes again. I will come meet you when i'm free.

Okay, with a look at prince Cleon he left.


I looked at Cleon who still maintained his sitting position. I am starting to think he has fallen asleep for real.

Settle down everyone, said master Flynn.

It has been hours now and none of you have been able to brew the rejuvenation potion correctly.

Only Borak has come close and even that is not enough, but that is to be expected this potion is powerful and even the best amongst us failed a few times before perfecting it. Now i will have Cedric do a demonstration after which you all will try again.


We all watched with the exception of Cleon as Cedric placed the ingredients one by one just as it was written in the instruction and the final result was a bluish liquid much to the amazement of the rest of us.

Very good Cedric now as you all can see this should be the end product of your brew. Why don't you all try again, it took Cedric several tries as well to get it but look at him now. Borak i'm sure you will get it right this time.

Thank you Master Flynn i will try my best i won't laze around and sleep off like some people.

Borak's snide remark brought a burst of laughter from the rest of them.

You know my problem with you Borak is that you never learn; responded Cleon.

I turned around to see him sitting upright.

I walked to him.

You don't look like you've been sleeping for hours now, i said standing beside him.

And who said i've been sleeping?

What were you expecting me to think when you've kept your eyes shut for hours while the rest of us have been battling with this rejuvenation potion.

I can get why you are finding it difficult to brew since you only discovered your powers recently and started lessons yesterday so your situation is very much understandable, it is the lot of them that is laughable.

What are you trying to say Cleon, that the rest of us is incompetent; queried Borak.

Come let me show you how it's done Red; Cleon told me ignoring Borak.

I quickly gathered my things and emptied my pot in preparation for the new potion.

Barely seconds after i sat down Borak walked over. I really don't know what his problem is with Cleon because it is clear that he is looking for a fight.

Cleon what do you mean you will show your little helper how it is done Master Flynn just asked Cedric for a demonstration which we all saw, are you trying to say you are better than Cedric? it is not enough that you called us incompetent now you want to embarass Master Flynn?

Let me ask you, who do you think you are Cleon?

Why should you be the odd ball time and time again?

Why do you feel the need to always claim superiority over the rest of us, not even Casper who is the crown prince and the most outstanding man not just in Aegalia but throughout the five kingdoms, yet not even he is as proud or boastful as you.

The entire room fell into silence following Borak's outburst. All eyes seems to be on Cleon apparently waiting for his reaction.

Making of potions is not just about putting the ingredients in a pot even if they are the right ones with the right measurement. Cleon said as he gestured for me to put in the ingredients totally ignoring everyone.

You have to feed your energy into it, the stronger the energy you feed it though just the right amount the better your potion will turn out. Not all potions require your magic some are simple that just using the right and appropriate ingredients is enough, like the one we did yesterday. However today's own is different because the potion is about you giving life and energy. Now take a deep breath and allow yourself to feel the ingredients just allow your energy to flow the rest will take care of itself.

I followed Cleon's instruction and took a deep breath i allowed myself to be free and attune myself with what i'm doing. It was simply unbelievable i just watched as i followed the instructions smoothly and the end product was a clear blue liquid clearer and lighter than what Cedric brewed.

Look i shouted happily, proudly showing Cleon the potion once i've transferred it into a container and sealed it.

Well done Red, now let's go.

Leave, you think you can just walk out on everyone after this madness you just displayed? shouted Borak.

Is that even real master Flynn asked a girl whose name i don't even know.

Eve can i see that?

I handed the container to master Flynn confident in what Cleon taught me.

All eyes were now focused on Master Flynn except Cleon who looks bored.

This is the best rejuvenation potion i've ever seen, said master Flynn in amazement.

Without saying a word Cleon walked out of the room. I immediately collected my potion from master Flynn while offering him an apology as i went in search of my capricious master.
