Chapter 2

I sigh as I hold Aili's hair as she throws up in the toilet, the exhaustion from last night still in my body. "At least this is happening two hours before the start of your first class."

She caught her breath before wiping her mouth with a piece of toilet paper. "Yeah," she began before tossing it into the toilet and flushing it with all of the bile. "Sometimes I hate to say it but you're right," she said as she sat on her legs tying her hair that I had let go of, back.

"But you still love me," I said with a smile as I sat on the floor with my knees together and my feet pointed out.

"I don't know how you sit like that," Aili muttered before hurling into the toilet once more

"It's comfortable," I said as I began to rub circles around the small of her back as she hugged the toilet. "I don't know how I sit like it either but I like sitting this way," I said with a smile

"But it just made me sick," she said with a pout as she flushed the toilet once more

I chuckled as I fixed my legs so I was sitting crisscross applesauce. "Better," I asked her with a grin as she looked at the toilet

She glanced at me as she took a deep breath. "Yes," she said with a smile before her golden eyes looked into mine as they changed to amber. "Are you staying in your King form or going with something else?"

I shrugged, "I might just go as is," I began but then I thought of what Shanda told us last night. "Maybe this look," I said as I pictured myself keeping the platinum blonde hair. I changed my eyes to the grey I had with the makeover.

Aili smirked as I watched the red seep into her hair and specks of gold appear in her eyes, "What about a mix of both?"

I smiled as I pictured the blue of my eyes appearing as specks in the stormy grey ones. I then pictured the blonde hair as highlights in the platinum. "How about this," I asked smirking as I felt my body take on its athletic shape

Her grin widened as she reached out and squeezed one of my breasts. "I wish I didn't have classes or morning sickness right now or I'd fuck you."

I chuckled, "Well you do have some time for cuddles," I said with a smile as I stood up holding onto her hand. "You do remember that I know your schedule right?"

She stood up with me while smiling, "I can never turn that down," she said with a nod

I grinned, "Neither could I."

I lead her to the bed, diving into it, "You're such a kid," Aili giggled

"But you still love me, Ransom," I said as I pushed myself up to the headboard. She crawled onto the bed, giggling before landing on top of me

"That I do," she mumbled into my stomach before pushing herself up resting her head in between my breasts. "That I do Layzer," she repeated with a smirk while looking at me with a sparkle in her eyes

"Why do I have the feeling that you're smirking at me mischievously," I asked looking into her eyes. Then I tucked her hair behind her ears causing her to grin

"Maybe because you're failing to notice this," she said right before I felt something inside of me. "You didn't take into account all of my limbs," she added with a smirk as I gasped

"You're evil," I said with a glare as I felt her hand move inside of me, she smiled in response. I chuckled before leaning over, cupped her face into my hands, and kissed her. I ignored the taste of bile that entered my mouth once she bit my lip to explore. Soon, I felt both of her hands in my hair as mine traveled down her body while we made out

"Why are we so fucking horny," Aili said with a smirk as we layed on the bed minutes later panting

"I don't know," I said pausing as I heard her alarm go off. "Time to get up," I said with a smirk as she groaned before face planting into my breasts. "Hey," I began finding her chin with my finger so I could tilt her head to look at me. "Everything will be okay today," I began as I looked into worried eyes, "no matter what happens."

"But the attack," she asked with a pout but I held up a finger

"I'm going downstairs with you to see what I can do to prepare for it," I began, "if you want to watch through my eyes you can do so."

She smiled, "I'd be hopeless without you," she said as she poked my nose sending the feeling of electricity down my body

"Ransom," I exclaimed with a smile as she ran into the closet to grab clothes, "I know that was all you because my core's off."

We had gotten ready without fuss as I put on a sports bra, tank top and leggings. As I was getting dressed I was hoping Sam would teach me something so Aili and I could survive our attack. I walked out of the closet to see her in a summer dress with leggings since the weather wasn't too cold for it yet. We went down the stairs stopping at the base of them so I could peck her on the lips before she left.

"I hate you," she said shooting a glare at me as I sent my own surge of electricity to her lips

"Are you sure about that Ransom," I said with a smirk before giving her another kiss that wasn't full of electricity. "I'll see you later beautiful," I said with a smile giving her a quick hug before sending her off

"See you later," she said as she walked down the hall and out of sight. Just as she disappeared Lindsy poked her head out into the hall looking at Aili's retreating figure then at me

"What's going on," she asked as I watched longingly as my soulmate disappeared out of sight, "Lizzy."

I jumped, "Classes are restarting," I said then looked at her. "Why are you poking your head out into the hall, did you do something again?"

"No," she said, her skin turning pale before ducking back into her room using her superspeed

I chuckled, "Lindsy," I began, "I won't hurt you if you did something, you have to know that. What happened in there," I asked as I walked to the door

As I pressed my ear against the door I heard some crackling in the room as if there was a fire in it. "Fine," Lindsy began, "hang on a second."

A sound of air going throughout the room came to my ears before she opened the door looking exhausted. "I forgot that I had lit a candle last night. It caught onto one of my sheets after I went back to bed," she said as I looked at the burnt bed behind her

"Are you okay," I asked as she nodded, "where did the sheets catch fire?"

"By the window," she began pointing to a far corner that had more of a burn than the rest of the bed. "It was on one of the dressers that I brought from home. I think one of the blankets flew up and caught on fire," she explained and I sighed as I looked at the rest of the room

"Your heat vision is acting up isn't it," I asked her after scanning the room. I noticed another area that was just as burned right next to the window only inches apart. I turned to her and arched an eyebrow. "There is no reason to lie to me or anyone in this house," I began as her lips thinned into a line. "Aili and I are having power fluxes. It is normal for people to have them if you want to use the training room downstairs you can."

"Thanks, Lizzy," she said with a little disappointment, "sorry about that."

I shrugged as I snapped my fingers cleaning up the mess and fixing the bed. "It's fine, I'm still figuring out my powers. You're working on strengthening yours which causes control issues. Tracy has had that at some points the past month," I said with a chuckle, "we'll not be mad at you for it. If you at all need to leave for something you can. Aili and I have two guards and two advisors. I also believe some members of the secret service should be arriving at some point."

"How do you have members of the secret service coming," Lindsy asked just as Sam appeared at the door

"Being friends with the president does have its perks, Miss Triggs," she answered for me. This caused me to nod and Lindsy to shoot a glare at my guard before turning to walk in the bathroom. "I believe you were going to look for me and talk about this attack on you and the Queen?"

"You do know that she prefers you to call her by her first name," I began. "and that Aili and I prefer you call us by our first names instead of King and Queen?"

Sam smiled before nodding, "Would you like to learn more about your impending attack? Or would you rather learn the specifics on what I should do with royalty?"

"Let us talk about the former first so Aili and I don't die," I said with a chuckle as I walked out into the hallway. "Care to go into the basement so I can learn some basic maneuvers to fight whatever's going to attack us?"

Sam opened her mouth then closed it. She then knit her eyebrows together in thought then opened her mouth again to speak, "What about food?"

I shrugged, "I'll get some on the way to class, now what do I need to know?"

In the end, Sam ended up giving me a sword and dagger seeing that I moved better with the two weapons better than the one. I went up the street to head to class. I stopped at a convenience store to grab a muffin before walking into the building where I'd have my first class. I walked in and the teacher looked at me as if I was wearing a crown on my head.

"New hair color Liz," she asked as I remembered my seat in front of the class

I smiled, "Yeah," I began as I walked the path to my seat, "Aili and I wanted to try something new together."

"Looks nice," the girl next to me said as she took a seat, "the name's Veronica I just transferred here."

I shook her hand, "Pleasure to meet you, Veronica. The name's Liz," I said with a forced smile as I felt something dark in the pit of my stomach as I shook her hand. "Thanks for the compliment," I said as I took in her features

Nothing seemed off about her but something in me was telling me that she was going to be trouble later on in the day. "Would you mind helping me look for some of my classes," she asked with a smile as I looked into her eyes

'Aili are you seeing what I'm seeing,' I asked my soulmate. "Maybe, let me see your schedule. I might be meeting with my soulmate later."

'Yes, I am,' she answered as the girl showed me her schedule, 'I have a bad feeling about this. She has the same class that we have together,' she added as I scanned the entirety of the list

"It appears that you only have one other class with me," I began as I scrolled back through her schedule. "That happens to be one of the times I'm meeting with my soulmate so may I tell you about the campus app? There's an app that you can download on your phone, it has a map of all the buildings on campus. A word of advice as well, the first number in the room number usually indicates the floor that the room number is on."

Veronica smiled as I fidgeted in my seat, uncomfortable in her presence. "Thanks," she said with a smile, "would you mind if I sit here?"

I shook my head, "Not at all," I said with a forced smile while sending a mental message to everyone from the house. 'This girl's presence is making me sick; someone give me a cover call or something to get me out of here.'

'Everyone in the world knows your pregnant Liz, just run out of the room as if you're puking,' Tracy's voice said. Just as she finished my phone started ringing

"Excuse me," I said as I took the phone and left the room with my bag, "hello," I said as I answered the call

"Tracy needs to know what kind of sick you mean," Aili's voice said as I made my way down the stairs and outside. "Are you okay," she asked as I started walking around the area

"Better now," I began as I saw a hint of red hair in the distance, "are you outside?"

"Yeah," she began, "I wanted to make sure you didn't pass out or if you were being followed by her."

I smiled as I approached her, hanging up the phone, "You, my dear, are a lifesaver," I said while hugging her. 'Tracy, most people don't run out of the room with all of their things when they're going to puke.'

"At least you're safe now, it seems that Aili beat me to the punch," Maurine's voice said behind us. Aili and I walked to the pond and I felt the sickness in my gut settle

I smiled as I put my arm around her shoulder, "Yeah," I began. "She did but this makes me worry about what's going to happen when we're attacked."

Aili shrugged, "I learned everything that Sam taught you," she began, "may I have the dagger in advance?"

I sighed, "Yeah," I began as I dug in the pocket of my jeans looking for the weapon

"Why are you giving her that now," Maurine asked as I looked at her

"Whoever this person was," I began as I handed it to my girlfriend. "Has two classes with her, one of which she's had earlier, before she shares the same class with both of us."

"So, you're saying that she's faced this person before," Maurine asked as I nodded

"Seen her yes but talked with her and been face to face with her no," Aili answered for me as I took a breath. "I have a feeling throwing up this morning might've helped matters," she muttered as I chuckled

"But you didn't have the creeping feeling I did," I said. "You didn't have any pain in your gut and you didn't feel nauseous around her. There's something about this woman's power that has a negative effect on me," I muttered as I rested my head on the bench

"Maybe it has something to do with your pregnancy," Maurine offered as I looked at her

"I don't think it's that," I began, "or else Aili would've had the same feeling with her."

"What if it has something to do with the range of her ability," Aili muttered, making me look at her. "Either that or she turned her ability off and had turned it on when she sat next to you," she suggested as her eyes met mine. The specks of gold were glinting in the sunlight

"That would be a good assumption," I began as I looked back at the building that I had come from. "What's going on over there," I asked aloud as I saw people rushing out of the building that I had come from

"Why don't you go find out," Aili suggested, "Maurine and I could come with you," she added as I looked at her

I looked at her advisor, "I'll take Maurine," I began as she arched an eyebrow. "If this woman knows who I am she'd probably know who you are and the longer you are around that feeling the worse it can be."

Aili nodded before kissing me on the cheek, "Don't get yourself killed Layzer."

I smiled, "I don't plan on it Ransom," I said before getting up. "You get ready for your next class. We'll fill you in on everything when it's calmed down."

She nodded before walking away as I turned to Maurine. "Ready to go," she asked and I nodded as we marched up the hill to the ever-growing crowd

"What's going on," I asked a passing person. "I just left that building to get some fresh air and take a call and the next thing I know everyone's running from it."

"There's something about that room," I heard a passing person say before they threw up in the grass next to a dorm. The kid I asked stopped to look at me the fear in his eyes

"There's this new girl," he said panting as his eyes darted to the building and back at me. "Something about her is making people nauseous and dizzy as if they drank alcohol."

After he explained that I turned to look at Maurine who looked as confused as I felt, "Pond," I offered and she nodded. "Either this is Winnie messing with us or this is some messed up daughter of hers."

'I wouldn't do something like this, my King,' Winnie's voice began in our heads. 'I wait until the parties, times of celebrations or the end of the day to give people those effects. Veronica is not a name I recognize any of my children having past or present.'

I sighed as my eyes met with Maurine's. "Okay so that eliminates that possibility," I said as she nodded to someone coming up behind me. "Can I help you," I asked as I turned to see a man looking at me with a glare

"Did you set off a smoke bomb in the classroom before you left ma'am," he asked with a gruff voice

"No sir," I began looking into his eyes, "I've had my fair share of vomiting and do not look forward to any more of it. I would never place something like that in a classroom causing people to rush out of there."

"Then why did you leave moments before it happened," he asked arching a bushy eyebrow

I sighed, "My soulmate made an emergency call to me," I began, "something personal came up and she needed to call me. I also needed some fresh air because something was making me nauseous."

The man nodded, "Alright," he began thoughtfully. "Where were you sitting when you felt nauseous?"

"Next to a transfer," I answered, "she had just shown me her schedule asking for some help in figuring out the campus."

The man nodded once more, "There's a lot of people who said that same thing," he said. "Maybe she smoked something before coming into class," he muttered to himself as he walked away

'Did you smell anything on her when she sat next to you,' Aili's voice asked in my head making me jump

'No, it was just all a feeling as if it was Winnie putting the effects of alcohol on us. Thanks for scaring me by the way,' I thought to her as I turned to Maurine. "What do you want to do now," I asked as people ran past us just to puke in the grass

Maurine's eyes darted over the place as she took in the scene. "Let's get some food before our next class and discuss over lunch."

I nodded, "That sounds like a good idea," I began. "I only had a muffin this morning and if I remember correctly Tracy is out of class now."

"You bet I am," she said, coming up behind making me jump, "sorry."

"You and Aili," I began clutching my heart, "I swear to the gods you two are going to give me a heart attack."

Maurine giggled before turning on her heels. "Let's go, we don't have much time," she said as she walked in the direction of one of the many restaurants on campus

"Do you know where Aili's class is," Tracy asked as we followed her soulmate

I nodded, "Yeah, should be in the science building," I answered as I watched the people running around in a panic

"How do you know that," Tracy asked me as we passed someone hurling in the bushes

I looked at her, "You do remember that I scheduled her classes as well as mine right?"

Tracy opened her mouth then closed it, "Right," was all she said when we walked into the building to get food

"Okay what are you seeing Liz," Maurine began as we sat down, "I'm looking through her eyes but I don't know what she's looking at."

I sighed before closing my eyes and going into Aili's mind, 'What the fuck is that,?' I asked her, making her jump and mess up whatever she was writing while looking straight ahead of her. 'Sorry for the scare, it seems that Maurine doesn't want to ask you what she's seeing so she asked me to take a look. How are you feeling, anything with Veronica?'

I watched her sigh as she erased the mess that she made with the pencil when I scared her. 'She's not here,' Aili began, 'the professor made an announcement saying that some students will be out. They're going to be checked out at the urgent care for any illnesses or an evolved strain of COVID. As for what I'm looking at,' she paused as she looked back up at the board. It showed something very human-like but yet it wasn't. 'That's what their guess is how a godly embryo would look like. Somehow, this professor knows that there is an immortal being in his class. For that reason he took it upon himself to teach the class about immortal pregnancies. The animation is pretty good but all of his hypotheses are disgustingly wrong.'

I snorted as the diagram showed a horn growing out of the embryos head. 'They're doing that thinking we're not the same as everyone else,' I thought to her as I started laughing

"What is it," Tracy asked taking her gaze from her soulmate to me before tossing a French fry in her mouth

"What Maurine is seeing right now as she looks in through Aili's eyes," I began as I worked on catching my breath. "Is the embryo of an immortal being," I paused to take another breath. "It's animated and the embryo just started growing a horn."

"They really need to do their research before assuming shit," Maurine muttered. She then spat out her soda in Tracy's direction as I watched a second set of arms growing out of the embryo

'This is sick,' Aili said in my mind as I laughed at Tracy who was dripping with soda, 'I can't stay here, where are you two?'

As I laughed I told her where we were and what just happened, "Go get cleaned up," I began. "I don't think you want to be sticky from the soda that was spat out of your soulmates mouth."

Tracy nodded as Maurine knit her eyebrows in confusion, "Where's she going?"

"She's coming over here," I began before eating a chip, "that presentation was making her sick."

Maurine nodded as Tracy disappeared behind the doors to the bathroom. "Where was Veronica?"

"Everyone who ran out and threw up from that classroom is being checked by the urgent care," I began taking a sip of my soda. "They're being looked at to see if they have a different strain of COVID."

Maurine nodded as she took a wad of napkins and set up to clean the area. "If she threw up that means either she has the same negative effects from her abilities," she paused. "Or she's not the person who's going to attack us."

"What would she be labeled as then," I asked her as she tossed out the wad of napkins. "Winnie herself said that name isn't one of her children past or present so what could she be?"

Maurine shrugged as she made it back to her seat. "I guess you and Aili have to keep an eye out for whatever happens," she suggested as she munched on her sandwich

Suddenly a pain came from my neck as I heard a scream. "Aili," I exclaimed as I bolted from my seat and ran out to see some sort of snakelike creature staring her down. "What's with monsters being things that creep me out," I muttered. I lifted my hand preparing some electricity to shoot at it. "Hey slithers," I yelled, "take this," I finished as I threw the ball of electricity into the snake's face. I then ran to Aili who was bleeding from her neck. "Please don't say it's as bad as that gunshot again," I muttered as I took some Goop Juice out of my bag. "Here, drink this it'll help," I said offering it to her and she took it

The wound closed almost instantly as we both breathed a sigh of relief. "Just a scratch," she said with a smile as she stood up with her dagger. "There's another attacker in the area. That's how I was struck," she explained as she looked around the scene. People gawked from the window as the spider-serpent turned to me

"He'll come when he's ready," I began as I shivered in fear at the monster. "As for now, let's take care of this thing because it's giving me the creeps."

'You two are going to have to reveal yourselves after this,' Sam said in our heads as I dodged a strike from the monster. 'Tracy and Maurine are keeping people from going outside and getting in your way but they're still seeing it.'

"Duly noted Sam," I began as I rolled out of yet another strike from the monster and struck its legs. "Hit the legs then go for the head. Make sure you're burning it when you strike," I said to Aili. She then nodded lighting her dagger on fire before cutting off another leg

Soon the monster was dust as we looked at each other while panting. "I don't want to do this," she said referring to the mental message that Sam sent us.

"Me neither but we have to consider what just happened," I said as I put my sword away and she handed the dagger to me. Just as I helped her up people started forming a circle around us

"What was that," a woman asked as she walked up to us

"Could you please let us through, we need to get to them," Tracy's voice asked for her and Maurine. Before I answered I pressed on the pendant to bring up my armor

"You two do know that you can just teleport to us right," I asked as I willed the looks of my King form to take over. Finally, I turned to the woman who was glaring daggers at me. "As for what that was," I began as I stole a glance at Aili to see that she had down the same thing. "That was us defeating a monster that would've destroyed the campus. Which would end up killing hundreds if not thousands of students."

"Then who are you and what makes you so special," the woman huffed as our advisors appeared next to us

"Well," I began, "this requires some backstory if you have the time for it," I said with a smirk as I scratched the back of my head. "If none of you want to deal with the backstory you can all resume what you were doing," I said to the crowd in my King voice. The voice caused people to jump in surprise as I took on an air of authority

"What's this backstory," the woman asked unfazed by my King's voice. 'Don't worry Liz, it's just me prompting the explanation,' Shanda's voice said in my head as I straightened myself

'Thanks, Shanda,' I thought back. "How many of you that are still here know that the Soulmate Project is being run by a religion," I began asking the crowd. Some hands rose in the air as I scanned the circle around us. "Well that religion is named Raiz," I paused as I saw a smile tug at the corner of Shanda's lips. "I happen to be the King of that religion and Allison here is my Queen. That monster was attacking us. We are only completing our education here before returning to Bita."

"Is there a way that you could prove this," a student asked as Shanda nodded and I sighed

"Yes," I began, "but it would require all of you to avert your gaze for a minute. What we need to do is show our true form and no one can live through unless they are immortal."

Everyone aside from Shanda nodded. "How can I trust that you won't stab us in the back or shoot any of us with that electricity?"

I smiled, "Why, Miss," I began, "that's because this isn't the first time I've saved the lives of your students."

With a huff, the guard turned around as I looked at Aili who nodded. I closed my eyes to willed my true form into appearance. The true form included a King's guard with the gold and purple coloring as well. That included the crown that had appeared on my head after claiming who I was. Luckily it was a suit to fit modern times instead of the ancient dresses that women would wear in England. I looked to see Aili dressed in the blue prom dress that she had worn back on Bita. "I'm ready," she said with a huff as I followed her eyes to the crown that sat atop her head. "Don't like our full form though," she muttered. I felt our power meld together just as Tracy and Maurine's power tied in with ours

I looked to see Tracy and Maurine both in their respective clothing. They looked like guards in their own right. The suits on them were fit for secret service members but lined with gold or silver respectively. "We're ready," Tracy said adjusting her suit so the wrinkles didn't show

I nodded as I scanned the crowd making sure no one was on the floor because they were too curious. "You can turn around now," I announced as the lightning bolt appeared in my hand and my sword appeared at my hip

"Is that a crown," voices began asking as people turned around

"I'm more focused on the lightning bolt in her hand, is she going to use it on us?"

"Why is her suit purple lined with gold?"

"Is that sword for decoration or is she going to use it on us?"

"Are her eyes golden?"

"Why is she wearing a prom dress?"

"Enough," my voice boomed as I scanned the crowd with my eyes, "I will not harm you with any of these weapons. It is my duty to serve as a King to all of you and make sure nothing is threatening you or this world. I would never hurt any of you so please expunge that from your mind. Yes, this is a crown, sword, and lightning bolt and yes her eyes are golden. Do you have any more questions ma'am," I asked as I looked at the crowd who had relaxed a little

"How would you like formalities for you two and who are those two behind you," Shanda asked. I noticed she took on the act of a fearful teacher trying to fix her actions while finding more information

"These are our advisors," I began. "Tracy Mitchell, my advisor, and close friend," I turned to show her to the crowd before I turned to Aili. "My Queen, would you like to introduce your advisor," I asked her and she smiled

"I would love to do so," she said with a smile as she turned to let Maurine step forward. "This is Maurine Nakae, Tracy's soulmate, and my advisor. These two are here to help us with our rule as King and Queen as well as help us fight whenever the need arises. As my King has already said we mean no harm to you unless you harm us," she paused then looked at Shanda. Her voice was just as powerful as the voice in her Queen State last night. "As for the formalities," she began. "Unless the event has us dressed with our crowns we would prefer you to treat us as if we were fellow classmates. If you are around us with our crowns and formal gear you should refer to us as my King and Queen respectively."

Everyone nodded as I looked in the distance, "I suggest everyone duck," I said as I readied my lightning bolt. "Seems we have a guest that isn't as sneaky as they think they are."

I then threw the lightning bolt at a figure attempting to hide in the bushes to watch us and take a shot at one of us. A hiss of pain came from the bush as the man fell out, his leg charred from my lightning. "You won't win," he said before disappearing from our sight

Just then I felt a tap on my shoulder, "My King," a voice said behind me, "you're not supposed to be pregnant."

Sharp pain in my gut caused me to double over with a gasp as spots littered my vision. "You're lucky I'm wearing armor you bitch," I muttered through the pain. I then swiped at Veronicas feet causing her to fall to the ground. She hit her head on it before disappearing as the man had moments ago

A touch on my shoulder caused my pain to ease a little bit. Once the hand rested on my shoulder my vision cleared and the pain disappeared. "Are you okay," Aili's voice asked as I felt the nausea disappear

"I am now," I said as I stood up and looked around to see that we were home, "did you teleport us home?"

Aili shook her head before nodding to Tracy and Maurine. "That was them," she said as I looked into her eyes filled with worry. "Can we go into our room so I can see where she hit you," she asked as I collected my breath before nodding

"We'll discuss this later," I said to the two advisors. "Get your gear off if you want to and get some rest because that much power must be exhausting."

They both nodded before walking up the stairs. "Are you sure you're okay," Aili asked as she wrapped her arm around my waist undoing the button on the suit

I nodded as more pain started in my gut, "Let's take a look at this," I said making my way up the stairs with Aili. Once in our room, Aili snapped her fingers to remove the suit jacket and undershirt. "Thanks," I said with a smile as I sat gingerly on the edge of the bed

"You're welcome," she said with a smile before looking at my stomach. "It's already bruising," she began as her fingers glided across the area where it hurt the most. She then snapped her fingers causing my pants to be removed, "You've felt no discharges correct?"

"No," I began as she put a hand on my abdomen and closed her eyes as if she was focusing on something

Suddenly the pain disappeared completely. "Everything's fine," she began as her eyebrows knit together in concentration. "There's no internal bleeding. There's nothing wrong with the child," she finished as I felt her power flow throughout my body

"Then what the hell was that for," I asked her, "is there anything left of her power in my body? I can't feel a thing aside from mine and yours," I added, "anything out of the ordinary?"

"Nothing," she said with a sigh of relief opening her golden eyes, "well that was climatic," she said with a smile. "I'm glad that nothing bad happened," she added as I chuckled

"Other than me being hit in the gut and you being hit in the neck again," I asked as I held her hips

Aili smiled, "You had me worried though," she said, "I thought she had slid a dagger into your side killing you or the baby."

"How fast was she," I asked as she shook her head, "Aili?"

"It was like she had Lindsy's superspeed," she began, "I didn't see the hit I only felt the pain and saw you double down."

"Well," I began as I brought her to my lap, "I'm fine and we're here, it was a punch that missed the abdomen and that's it."

"I'm happy for that," she said with a giggle as she snapped her fingers once more making my suit appear on me again. "Nice lie about the armor being on," she added with a smirk as my arms wrapped around her body

"Thanks," I began with a smirk as I placed my chin into her neck. "Look at us," I began as I looked at our reflection in the mirror across from the bed, "who'd think we'd be royalty?"

Aili's crown was simple but elegantly made with a soft shining silver metal. It was studded with gems of different shades of blue along with diamonds. Her hair was woven through the headpiece sitting at the top of her head. My crown was similar to hers but held more weight to it. It was studded with all kinds of gems the most notable being the reds and purples. Like Aili's, my hair was woven through the base of the crowns. It created highlights of platinum in with the shining gold metal that it was made with. "I most definitely didn't," she answered, turning her head to me, "you?"

I looked at her in shock, "I'm from Toledo with divorced parents," I began, "do you think that I ever dreamed of this?"

She looked up at me, her eyes shining with mirth as she asked. "The relationship or the popularity in two different universes?"

"All of the above."

She chuckled, "I believe you dreamed of the relationship," she began, "but not these things."

I chuckled in response as I hugged her, "I fucking love you," I said kissing her neck, "I don't know what I'd do without you."

"You'd most likely die," she said with a smirk, "you'd probably die alone either as a crazy cat lady or a dog person like me."

She said that while melting into my kiss, "You got that right," I said with a smirk as I planted my chin back into her shoulder. "They're probably going to want to talk about this aren't they," I asked referring to the council

"I'm surprised there hasn't been any gods or goddesses coming to check on you," Aili said. "Not a single one has sent us a message since you asked Winnie about Veronica."

"I guess it's time to go to Bita then and see if everything's alright," I suggested to which she nodded. "Teleport separately or side-saddle?"

Aili smirked, "Side-saddle," she said standing up, clutching my hand. "I think it would also be best if we explored the area since we haven't seen much of it."

I chuckled, "We haven't been to Bita since the crowning," I began, "I think it's due time that we pay a visit to whoever's up there."

Aili smiled as I stood up holding her hand, "You have a good idea," she said with a grin. "See if there are any updates with the war and tell them what has happened?"

"You bet Ransom," I said as I pictured the throne room as I had last seen it

"You love me Layzer," she said with a smirk as I started putting power into the image

"Damn right I do," I said before our surroundings disappeared. They were soon replaced with a room full of grey and darkness. "What the hell," I muttered as I turned to survey the scene

I summoned my lightning bolt as I looked at the thrones. They were a mess of their former glory as well as the columns that were once shining with gold. A lone figure covered in darkness stood over a fallen form in front of our thrones. A mix between burnt woods and stray lightning bolts failing to affect the cloaked figure in any way. "Hey," Aili's voice yelled as I drew my sword, "who the hell are you?"

The cloaked figure stood revealing a stranger's face. "You'll learn eventually who I am and that your rule is over nothing existent."

I threw my lightning bolt at the figure just as the shadows enveloped him. He disappeared as Aili ran to the figure that the man was bent over. "It's Rachel," she said as I followed her dropping my sword as I dropped to the goddess of health's side

"What happened Rachel," I asked her, she was deathly pale as the light in her eyes seemed to be fading

"Our parents," she began breathlessly, "they attacked us but we didn't have a chance to defend. They had the parents of the past King and Queen on their side."

"Why did they destroy our thrones," Aili asked as she looked at ours before looking at me

"Our thrones are the source of our power for most gods and goddesses. Some others feed on their domain," Rachel began

"Who's left," I asked her as the light faded little more

She looked at me as hope sparked in her eyes, "You two are what's left," she said before the light died in her eyes.
