1 Coming Home

Bella sighed as she walked out of the airport and saw Charlie stood in his police uniform by his police cruiser. His hands were in her pockets as he shuffled on his feet.

'Why couldn't he have used a normal car?' she thought as she walked up to him. He smiled when he finally noticed her walking up.

"Hey Bella," he greeted as he gave her a quick one-armed hug before taking her bag and putting it into the boot.

Bella nodded, climbed into the passenger seat and sighed. Especially, as she noticed several people looking at her. She could only imagine what the people were thinking.

The ride back to her childhood home was quiet. Charlie tried to make conversation, which was very unlike him, but Bella didn't feel like talking. Her mood seemed to deteriorate the closer she got to the miserable town she had spent so much time in when she was younger.

After her parents split up and she moved with her mother, she came back almost every school holiday to visit him. At first, she would love it, spending that time with her father always seemed perfect. However, the more used she got to the hot weather of Phoenix, the cold in Forks Washington became unbearable.

Now that she was moving here full time, she had no idea how she was going to survive this. Bella dreaded starting school, being forced to make new friends wasn't something she was great at.

By the time, he pulled up to the small little house her mood hadn't improved. Bella sighed heavily as she got out of the car and followed him inside. Everything looked the same, it looked like nothing had changed.

He helped her get settled before finally leaving her alone in her room. As soon as he shut the door she sighed and slumped on her bed. She loved her dad, the town was ok, it was the weather. She hated the rain and the grey clouds, everything was so miserable here.

After a few minutes, she finally decided to pack away her things. When she had decided to move to Forks to allow her mum to travel with Phil. She had gone shopping with her mum to get several winter clothes. She spent an hour putting them away, and once she was done she sighed heavily again.

Later that night, just as she finished packing away Charlie knocked on the door.

"Bell's, would you like to come to Billy's for a BBQ? Jake will be there," he asked but Bella looked confused. "Jake was the boy you would play with when you were little, they live on the reservation."

"Ok, I guess," she answered reluctantly, with a nod.

As she followed him down the stairs and out to his car, she wondered if she would remember this Jake or even if he would remember her. As they drove closer to the reservation the weather seemed to brighten a little so Bella felt a bit better.

When they reached Billy's house Bella could smell the food and it made her smile. Memories flooded into her brain of spending hours playing in the back garden and eating. Billy opened the door and rolled out.

"Charlie! I feared you weren't coming," he called out cheerfully then paused when he saw Bella. "Oh my goodness! Is that Bella?"

She returned the smile and then faltered as a hulking godlike figure of a man stepped out from the same doorway that Billy had come from. His tall six-foot frame, towered over Billy. His bare, tanned torso glistened in the sun causing Bella to gape.

"You remember Jake right Bella?" asked Charlie smirking.

Bella shook her head and nodded, blushed and grimaced at being caught staring at a hot guy by her dad. Jake smirked, equally pleased that she had been checking him out.

"Hey Bella, good to see you again."

She nodded quickly, then walked past him into the house, then out into the back garden where she stopped again but for a different reason this time or rather a different person.

Stood, only a few feet in front of her was another godlike man. However, it wasn't his body that had her so captivated it was his eyes. Those deep, brown eyes sparked something familiar within her. Bella felt as if she had stared into those eyes before, many times before.

He seemed just as entranced as she was. His body stood rigid and his mouth was open wide. They were quickly brought out of their trance when they realised someone was shouting his name.

Both Bella and the god blushed as several more gods stood around them with wide smirks on their faces. As well as Charlie and Billy who was sporting the same huge smirks on their face.

"Jared I guess you've met Bella already," chuckled Billy.

Their eyes locked again upon hearing their names. Paul chuckled as he clicked his fingers in front of Jared's face forcing both Bella and Jared to snapped out of it again. Jared cleared his throat then turned and left, Bella did the same.

For the rest of the evening, Bella and Jared stayed clear of each other. Bella could have sworn she felt him looking at her but she did everything she could to avoid looking at him.

Bella had arrived feeling nervous, then tense after meeting him, but the longer the evening progressed the more relaxed she felt. She got to know all the guys and instantly loved all of them.

She loved how Paul could get her riled up and how Sam could make her feel safe just by standing next to her. Seth was like the little brother she never had and she loved how Embry, Quil and Jake joked around with her. Even Leah was great, she was a bitch to the guys but not to Bella.

---

Later that night, Bella wandered around Billy's house. She and Charlie opted to spend the night since it was getting late and they were both tired. However, Bella at three in the morning was wide awake. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't get Jared's eyes out of her head.

She felt a huge wave of deja vu whenever she looked or thought of him. There was something that she couldn't quite put her finger on.

Everyone else had either gone home or was fast asleep hours earlier. Sighing, she got a glass of milk and walked out onto the patio at the back of Billy's house.

Bella sat on the steps and watched the night sky. As she sighed she leant back on the railing a wave of stillness surrounded her. The night air wasn't as cold as she had been expecting so she didn't feel the need to go inside.

"It's beautiful at night here isn't it?"

Bella jumped at the deep smooth voice. She whipped around to find Jared stood on the porch behind her.

"Jared, you scared me!" she gasped.

Jared smiled and sat down next to her.

"Sorry," he chuckled.

Bella couldn't take her eyes away from him. She gazed at his features as he looked out at the skyline. His strong cheekbones, tanned skin and full lips made Bella feel all warm inside. When he turned back to her, her eyes locked with his and she felt like she couldn't breathe.

Slowly, as if pulled by a mystical force, he moved closer to her and she gasped as she felt his hand brush her leg. The strangest thing about that touch was she could swear she had felt it before.

"How do I know you?" she asked in a breathless whisper.
