Chapter 39: You Are Not Cute At All!!

"YuChen-gege, how long have you been standing there?" Su Ning asked as she wiped her hands with a paper towel.

"Not long...about 10 minutes or so.." Gu YuChen calmly replied.

'That's long, okay! That is the entire time I spent washing the dishes.' Su Ning thought to herself. Recently Gu YuChen has been like sticky rice, following her around wherever she went. She even had to reject WeiWei's offer to go play at his family's hot springs at Huashang Mt. When Su Ning had brought up the topic with Gu YuChen, the latter had become visibly moody.

However, she quickly noticed his mood pick back up as soon as she promised to spend as much time with him before he left for the UK. The problem is….Su Ning hadn't expected GuYuChen to want to spend their entire waking hours together. The latter even began to work from home so he could stay with her. In her past life, she had spent the majority of her time by herself and had gotten lonely for companionship in her later years but there must be such a thing as too much companionship.

Su Ning finally looked up at the 18 year old Gu YuChen who towered over her at 189cm. "The heavens have already given her an exceptionally beautiful face; it would be too greedy to ask for more height bah," thought Su Ning. At 16 years old Su Ning only stood at 158 cm. In fact, she didn't grow any taller since her last birthday.

Gu YuChen who was leaning on the kitchen counter watching Su Ning wash the dishes, was wearing a pair of white linen pants and a light blue long sleeved v neck shirt. Su Ning had on a fuzzy white pajama set and pulled down on Gu YuChen's sleeves.

"YuChen-ge, I won't go anywhere this week. I promised already." Su Ning looked into Gu YuChen's eyes as she coaxed him. Su Ning felt Gu YuChen is being so 'sticky' because of their impending separation. To be honest, she also feels sad but from the beginning their life trajectory has always been in opposite directions. There's no point trying to hold on to something that isn't meant to be; it will just bring unnecessary heartache. In life, friends normally grow apart. In my past life, Su Ning also had a few close friends in primary school but by the time she was in university; they were just mere acquaintances. In fact, she doesn't even know who ended up attending her funeral.

Anyways, this last week together with Gu YuChen, Su Ning would spend as much time together as he would like. So at least Gu YuChen could leave with happy memories of her. Su Ning is aware Gu YuChen intends to return after completing his studies in the UK possibly to take control of Gu Co. Su Ning will likely be in B University by then and chances of meeting will probably not be unlikely. They would likely be acquaintances that would catch up over lunch once in a while. It's not so bad actually at least they have good childhood memories to reminisce about. 'Ai! I might even get invited to this paralysis face's wedding. Though I wonder who he would end up with though probably one of the girls from M Academy bah. I get to tell my college buddies I was childhood friends with the president of Gu Co.' Su Ning giggled.

At this moment, the aforementioned future president of Gu Co clasped Su Ning's small face with the palms of his hand.

Su Ning gave a soft humm in response.

"NingNing, you're not focused on me." Gu YuChen said somewhat sullenly.

Su Ning gave a soft chuckle and responded by going on tiptoes and raising both hands to Gu YuChen's face as she tried to get their foreheads to touch.

"There's only YuChen-ge here. Who else would I be paying attention to?" Su Ning said in a calm voice, her eyes closed.

Gu YuChen stared at the beautiful pale face so close to him. His heartbeat began to thunder and ring in his ears and butterflies had spread all over his stomach. 'If I move just a bit closer…' he thought.

Almost abruptly, Su Ning let go of his face and linked his fingers with hers. "Let's go to the living room. I'll show you how far I've gotten with Rose Wars" she said. "By the way, have you decided what you'd like to do before you leave? Are there any places you would like to go? Food you'd like to eat?" Su Ning asked as she lent Gu YuChen her phone so the latter can help her level up and maybe 'ahem' install some cheats.

The pair had relocated to the sofa and Su Ning had placed her chin on Gu YuChen's shoulder to observe the master at work.

"YuChen-ge, you are too awesome. You can hit with so much accuracy. Later on, my clan would think I am using a bot to play." (Su Ning)

"Isn't this the easiest character? How bad was your shooting accuracy before?" (Gu YuChen)

"... Your way of talking is too blunt, bah." (Su Ning)

"It must be really bad then." Gu YuChen responded matter-of-factly.

".... I just get confused with the buttons… There's too many skills so I can't remember which one is for which." (Su Ning)

"Shooting accuracy has to do with one's aim." Gu YuChen explained with a stoic face.

"Gu YuChen, you are not cute at all!" Su Ning huffed as she grabbed the phone out of Gu YuChen's hand and stomped into her room. 'I can't believe I even felt sorry for this kid!' she harrumphed and laid on her bed.
