**********

BEGINNING:

"Take the patient in ward 208 to the theater", she ordered while adjusting the surgical gloves she had worn, placing a hair net over her thick and curly hair and putting on a clean robe.

There was an uproar in the hospital as three men placed the patient on the stretcher, who was finding it hard to breathe or move.

Each intake of breathe sent a rushing wave of pain throughout her body and limbs. Everyone wasn't that perturbed as they had a pro surgeon by the name Celina; she had never lost a patient.

She had treated a child diagnosed in the early stages of Glibostamia ( a lump in the brain almost a tumor).

The men paved way for her as stepped in with so much confidence and aura depicting her sense of duty. The light in the operating room turned red as the door was closed shut.

Celina had conducted a computed tomography on the patient to have an inner view of the heart which was now in a debilitating state.

An Echocardiograph conducted took screenshots of problematic areas which depicted all the failing parts in her heart.

"Turn on the surgical light", she ordered.

"Yes ma'am", Christian replied quickly while wiping off his sweat which formed as a result of working faster than his capabilities.

He was an intern and hoped to learn from the reputable surgeon, Celine, who turned out to be his worst nightmare. She turned out to be a very arrogant and self willed woman but she wasn't bad though.

" Place the nebulizer over her ASAP", Celine yelled at him.

"Hand me the hypodermic needle and turn on the anesthesia machine to the required dosage listed."

Her right hand surgeon, Christian, was finding it hard to keep up with her.

"Turn on the cardiograph to check and record her heart movements", she ordered ." Hand me the cannular and bronchoscope".

The patient was having a hard time breathing almost as if experiencing a seizure. and shook severally and Celine quickly used the pneumograph to record her respiratory movement which was below normal.

" Get me the chest compressor or she might have a seizure and pass out", Celine ordered with a glint stare.

The patient who was now having a cardiac arrest was put to rest with it and Celine suddenly used the pacemaker to assume the natural cardiac pace which had normalized.

"Get me the Bistoury ", she ordered as she changed her blood soiled gloves.

The patient was now in a critical condition, she looked like a lifeless meat on the surgical table. One wrong move and the patient would be led to their demise.

An electro graph was wheeled in to maintain the air circulation in the patient's heart and lungs while the operation took place but after much work they weren't able to restore her heart to shape.

Disappointed and angry Celine had to take the last step which wasn't a cure either but a temporary aid to keep the patient alive for sometime, maybe a year.

The ultimatum was for her heart to be replaced with an artificial one and the patient fell into a state of deep unconsciousness after having a seizure. Coma presumably.

" Quickly get me a defibrillator", Celine whispered in shock at the outcome of the surgery. she had never lost a patient and was not ready to break the record.

The patient pulse started weakening.

A defibrillator was used to revive her by sending electric pulsations or shock to the heart to restore her normal heartbeat.

To prevent such traumatic seizures, an implantable defibrillator was attached to the heart In case of such seizures.

The patient was wheeled to the private ward while an Electrocardiogram was attached with ten sticky pads to monitor any irregularities in the heart such as low or rapid heart beats which could prevent imminent death.

Celine felt really sad.

" Hey ma'am don't be sad, we did our best", her right hand surgeon, Christian, assured by slow taps on her back.

Tears streamed down her face as she quickly shrugged from his form of consolation, getting ready to lay her withheld anger.

" No.....no I did not save her, if only I hadn't wasted that one minute to change by blood soiled gloves, I would have surely been able to save her", she ranted while bursting into unfathomable tears.

Christian was used to her bickering, he moved closer to console her.

" Hey, ...shush its not your fault. God gives and God takes", he consoled her.

" Oh just shut up, cramp that mouth shut, don't you know that I was gifted with the intellectual capability and I could have saved that woman but no... I chose to rather save my hands from getting soiled with blood ", she shouted before pointing at him.....

" And you are not excluded, if had been fast enough to hand me those pairs of glove, I wouldn't be here crying and getting worried", she accused him.

" You know what huh? I think you are not mad because you could not save the patient, you are angry because of your reputation going down the drain!!!", Christian addressed her because he too was getting tired of her endless bickering and blames.

It wasn't their fault that they couldn't save the patient but Celina was blinded by her ego and need to protect her reputation as a perfectionist she was.

" What did you just say to me?", she asked, taking slow strides towards him.

" I said what I said and i ain't repeating myself neither do I feel sorry or intimidated. You might be a pro In this matters but that doesn't give you the right to lay false allegations or point an accusing finger at me", he spat before realizing what he said.

Celina was shocked at his outburst.

Was she so repressive ?

Was she nonchalant ?

Slowly guilt started to eat her up as she crouched a distance away from him to cry further.

Christian felt hurt at her sadness, he shouldn't have said that to her. Turning around he left hurriedly.

"Stop right there!!!"....
