Jingchen Yu turned around and looked at the woman wrapped in a white towel like a drenched puppy, a cold smirk playing on his lips. "It was you who wanted to get in my car, and you who got out of it on your own, wasn't it? I didn't beg you, so what does it have to do with me?"

Effectively silenced by his retort, An Ning had no choice but to admit her mistake. "I was wrong. Could you help me get my wallet and phone back?"

Seeing her drenched and pitiful state stirred a familiar feeling in Jingchen Yu, and he found himself unwilling to leave her behind. "Come with me."

"Alright." What other choice did she have, looking like a soaked chicken as she did?

An Ning barely managed to stand up when her legs gave way again.

"Ah..."

Along with a cry, she started to fall to the ground.

Just as she thought she was going to crash onto the hard stones by the shore, she unexpectedly fell into a chest instead.

But that chest was also quite hard, making her nose sting with pain.

"Mmm..." She covered her nose, her eyes welling up with tears.

"Can you still walk?" Jingchen Yu asked the person in his arms.

"My nose... It really stings," she managed to say, struggling to speak through the pain.

"Forget it." Jingchen Yu simply picked her up around the waist.

An Ning's face flushed with unease. "Mr. President, there's no need to trouble yourself, I can walk on my own."

Jingchen Yu ignored her and, with a stern face, walked straight to the road and placed her into the car that was waiting by the side.

Even after sitting on the leather seats, An Ning's heart was still pounding wildly.

Jingchen Yu, soaked to the skin, walked around to the other side of the car where the bodyguard promptly handed him a dry towel. "Mr. Yu."

Jingchen Yu quickly wiped the water from his face and hair and took off his sodden jacket, handing it to his subordinate.

Then he got into the car, his thin shirt clinging to his body and revealing his perfect pectorals and the strong, eagle-like lines of his arms.

The boys An Ning had known were mostly on the slender side; this was the first time she had encountered such a manly man.

She was a bit surprised and couldn't help but sneak a few more glances.

It was only then that she realized the large towel she was wrapped in must have been meant for him, but he had given it to her instead.

Soon, the car started moving.

Jingchen Yu said in a low voice, "Let's find a place to change these wet clothes so you won't catch a cold. Later, I'll have someone send your things back."

That was all she could hope for at the moment, An Ning sighed with resignation.

But he didn't seem like a bad person, so there was no need to worry about safety.

......

The car quickly entered a heavily guarded villa area.

The villa had a very simple style, brimming with a sense of historic depth.

Though the house was old, the residences here were incredibly expensive, and the people living here were mostly of high status and influence.

Simply put, to live here one needed to be more than just wealthy; for these people, money was hardly a matter.

There was one downside, though, the villas were built very close to each other.

Moreover, the residents were all acquainted with each other, with several aunts frequently chatting under the shade of trees outside.

As soon as An Ning got out of the car, she was spotted by several of them.

Even more, a few of the aunts walked directly into the yard, smiling and greeting Jingchen Yu. "Young Master Yu, what happened to you? You're all wet."

"I got caught in the rain," Jingchen Yu replied softly.

Hearing this, An Ning almost burst out laughing.

Could this big boss at least make his lies logical?

When did it rain? It had clearly been sunny all day.
