52 The calm before the storm 3

Mai glared at Aaron saying 'didn't you take the side of that woman and kicked Maijune out? Why are you here anyway? We are going to sleep outside, me and my sisters'.

'Is a misunderstanding. Maijune misunderstood me. Let's go back, okay?' Aaron told her.

'Really? A misunderstanding? That's not what Maijune told me? You scolded her because of that woman. Do you still love her?' Mai asked looking at him.

Aaron shook his head and replied.

'Is nothing like that. Liyah is in a situation right now. I can't believe I have to go through everything with you again?'

'Why? You don't want to tell me?'

'No, is not that. Let's go, I will tell you everything. The car is across the street'.

'Whatever'.

EDEN ESTATES.

SAINT VILLA.

HALL.

Mai entered first and saw Dr. Kash and Leo in the hall. She immediately recognised Dr. Kash and greeted him 'Hi, Dr. Kash'.

Dr. Kash caught on the change and smiled saying 'is being a while, Mai. How are you?'

'I'm freezing, thanks to someone'. Mai said and looked at Aaron.

'I already apologised, Mai'. Mai looked at Leo and spoke 'this must be Leo Martins; the friend you spoke about in the car?'

'Yes, he is my childhood friend'. Leo Martins looked at Mai confused and opened his mouth to ask and Aaron spoke 'I will explain to you later'.

Leo nodded and looked at Mai.

Mai looked at her room and asked 'so, is that woman sleeping in my room?'

'Yes'. Aaron replied. Mai sat beside Aaron and murmured 'should I just go in and finish her off?' Leo heard Mai and looked at Aaron. Aaron shook his head.

'I'm hungry. You starved me and my sisters because of that woman. I can't wrap my head around it'

'I will make you something to eat. Come with me'. Aaron held Mai's hand and they went to the kitchen.

Leo Martins moved closer to Dr. Kash and asked 'Kash, what was that about? Why does she seem different from before?'

'That's because she is different'. Dr. Kash said.

'What?'

'I will explain to you'.

Leo Martins watched Mai curiously as Kash told him everything about August Maijune's condition.

Mai went straight to her laboratory and stayed there for hours until late into the night when Kash and Leo had gone home. She wasn't comfortable been around someone she didn't much about.

All though, Aaron had told her everything about Leo and she knew he was something she could trust, she still felt she needed time to accept him.

Mai walked out of her laboratory and went to the kitchen. She removed a jug of milk and poured some into a glass and leaned on the kitchen wardrobe drinking it.

AARON'S ROOM.

Aaron opened his eyes and saw the space by him empty and sat up. He got up and was about to go out when the door opened and Mai walked in with her teddy bear.

Aaron's eyes suddenly lighted up and he felt a certain warmness fill his heart as he looked at the girl before him and asked 'are you here to sleep?'

Mai walked to the bed and looked at her part of the bed saying 'looks like you were waiting for me? Why? Did you missed us sleeping together?' Mai put her teddy bear down and yawned.

Aaron turned back to the bed saying 'missed who? You're just a nuisance. Look at you. Were you in the laboratory till now?'

'Yes, but I checked up on that woman before coming here. She seems to be sound asleep'. Mai said as she laid on the bed flatly looking at the ceiling.

'Thanks for understanding'. Aaron said and also returned to bed. Mai laid sideways facing him and said 'if you are grateful, then, there is a way to repay me back'. Mai said and added a wink.

'Which way?' Mai moved closer to him and hugged him on the bed as he laid 'hey, what are you doing?' Aaron tried to push her away but she held unto him tighter saying 'stay still. I missed you. August missed you, Maijune is going to miss you. Let me hug you for a while as compensation'

Aaron flushed not knowing what to do and allowed Mai to hug him. His body was increasingly getting hot and he didn't know what to do and held it in. His emotions were japed up at this moment and he wasn't sure what exactly he was feeling, but he didn't feel disgusted by Mai's behaviour, on the contrary, he loved them being closed to each other this way. He like how she smelt. He like how her chest rose up and down when she was sound asleep.

Aaron realised one thing. He like the girl sleeping next to him. Whether she was August, Mai or Maijune. He liked how August flirted with him, he like how Mai loved to sleep in his bed and he loved how Maijune was carefree with him.

He had never felt so peaceful. He never thought he would feel this way. This feeling wasn't new to him yet the entire experience was new to him.

Looking at the girl's side profile he thought, he had been dragged to hell already, so there was no turning back from how far he had gone with this girl.

From the beginning, from the moment they met, from the moment he spent his after work hours reading her stories as she laid unconscious in the hospital bed. The times he spent with her were the most beautiful and meaningful times for him.

He could never go back, because he had gone far already to turn back. His feelings were already too deep to stop him and he didn't want to stop himself either. Because, he didn't hate anything about his feelings.

August Maijune was a whole box of mystery and he was going to unravel her one at a time. Aaron stared at Mai's face and pulled her further into his embrace and hugged her close to himself and closed his eye drifting into sleep.
