Chapter 41 You Want Another Promise?

This was the kind of scenario she tried desperately to avoid. She really couldn't figure out why he kept doubting her.

He grabbed her chin with one hand and gave her a frigid scoff. "Yes, you're doing your dues as a married woman in the name of Mrs. Bell, but do you think I really need it?"

Did he need it? No, but she definitely did.

The words he uttered caused tears to start welling in her eyes. So, this was how he truly felt about her.

"Then... when will you need it?" she whimpered.

Her tears were on the verge of falling, but she tried her best to keep them in. She felt awful inside but still kept her tone soft and humble.

He didn't move and looked at her squarely in her eyes. For a brief moment, he was entranced by her. What on earth did she want with him?
