Love Past Time

What kind of employee gives her boss the third finger in the middle of a meeting and doesn’t get fired?  In her entire life, Oh Ji-Soo has never seen anyone more arrogant, mean, time conscious and narcissistic than Kim Ji-hun.  No one.  One moment he is cursing her; “Do it again, dimwit! You have 10 minutes!” and another moment he is tearing up the design draft she brought to him.  Having had enough of his antics, Ji-Soo concluded that she would rather become unemployed than have her mental state tortured over again.  But when her boss comes for her, she forces a contract that would keep him in check, which ended up exposing the secret he had hidden for years.  Now that his secret was out, he could blatantly tell her with a mischievous smirk playing on his lips, “I gave you a chance to run from me, but now, that grace has expired.”  Left with that realization and a beguiling goody-two-shoes woman lurking around the corner, what choice would Ji-Soo make? Would she take a step back or get on the ferry wheel of romance with her boss?

Oh Ji-Soo's grievances

"What are you going to do next with your life?"

Seeing that her friend was now without a job, Baek Su-Jin wanted to know her plans. If she didn't have one, then they would think of one together.

Crossing her leg over the other while drinking her second glass of wine, Oh Ji-Soo replied.

"First off, I'm going on a 2-week vacation in Japan. I need to relax my brain."

"Where in Japan?"

"Okinawa." Giving her response, Ji-Soo continued. "Secondly, I will see a therapist once I return. I have a lot of things I need to get off my chest."

"Kim Ji-hun and the likes of it." Baek Su-Jin cut in with a smile.

Waving her off, Oh Ji Soo released a soft sigh. "Next, I would have to sit down and plan what I really want to do with the rest of my life. I am turning 30 in a few weeks from now."

Turning 30 meant a lot of things for a woman and in this particular case of Oh Ji-Soo, there was no man in her life as her job had always come first and it ended up taking up all her time.

Now, she didn't have the job anymore.

"I am 31 already yet, I still don't have a man in my life." Baek Su-Jin said while trying to encourage her.

"At least, you have dated a few. You know what it is to be with a man."

Releasing a deep sigh, Oh Ji-Soo tore her eyes off her. "All my life, I have been working. Right from childhood, I have been the one mainly supporting my family.

As soon as I graduated from college and got into Dream Axis as an Intern, my goal was to be where I am now so, I had to double all efforts and give 8 years of my life to work."

Returning her gaze to Su-Jin, she added while gesturing with her hand, "Look where I am now."

Listening to her best friend lament over her worries, Baek Su-Jin made a reach for her hand and squeezed it gently.

"Your knowledge will never go to waste and thanks to the magnificent profile you managed to attain at Dream Axis, your work profile is perfect. You can consider setting up your own architectural firm. You are already a well-known figure in this field, you will do well."

Oh Ji-Soo felt a little downcast while thinking about what next to do with her life.

It really was not an easy task to start life all over again all of a sudden.

"Right now, I don't want to think about work. It is the reason I only have you by my side."

"Are you thinking of starting a family?"

Hearing that, Ji-Soo scoffed and drank more wine from her glass. Putting the empty glass down, she picked up the wine bottle and poured herself another glass.

"Kim Ji-hun has scarred my mind so that I am afraid to deal with any man again. I want a family of my own, but that can only be wishful thinking."

"If you don't want to be romantically involved with any man even though I will ask you to give it a shot, you can skip that part and directly adopt a child." Baek Su-Jin advised while taking her hand back.

"I don't think I can raise a child. My parents didn't transfer any love for me to give to my child."

Letting out a sigh, Oh Ji-Soo added in conclusion. "Anyway, I just want to be selfish now and take care of myself at the moment before thinking of any other thing."

Back in the day, Oh Soo-Ji was a beauty sort after by the opposite gender. Even now, her good looks couldn't be hidden, but as she covered her figure in those serious-looking pants plus her unapproachable expression, most men were bound to be afraid of her.

One thing Ji-Soo regretted was that she didn't make out time to try dating as making money was her first goal.

Being reminded of her parents, Baek Su-Jin quickly asked, "What about your parents, have they been calling you often?"

"Not anymore since the last chaotic mental breakdown, but it's that time of the month, they will soon start." Oh Ji-Soo replied.

At the same time in another VIP room, Kim Ji-hun and Kang Dae-Jung were still on with their conversation.

To Dae-Jung's previous statement, Kim Ji-hun replied, "You better keep your lips sealed if you don't want to get hacked to death."

"That means you are admitting to having feelings for Oh Ji-Soo?" Kang Dae-jung teased while sending him a flying wink.

Almost immediately, Kim Ji-hun stood up and threw a punch his way. Fortunately for Dae-Jun, he was able to dodge in time just before his fist could land on his face.

"You are really asking for a beating, come back here!"

Seeing his best friend trying to escape after provoking him, Ji-hun immediately gave him a chase.

"Looking at you getting all riled up, I must have hit the right spot."

Kim Dae-Jun was having fun joking around with his best friend's secret despite knowing that it was his Achille's hill.

While trying to get away from him, he tripped and fell over a sofa, giving Ji-hun the opportunity to get to him.

Right when Kim Ji-hun had jokingly raised his fist and was ready to throw a punch at him, a male waiter knocked and pushed the door open with a tray of their second drink order.

The clear shock on the waiter's face widened upon seeing their suggestive position.

Taking a moment to settle and accept what his holy eyes had just seen, the waiter cleared his throat and tore his gaze off them,

"Here are your drink orders Misters."

Making that announcement, he walked directly to the table to set their order before turning to hurry away without another word.

"I think the waiter has misunderstood something," Kang Dae-Jun said as his eyes shifted from the door to Kim Ji-hun's face.

Having received a subtle reminder of their awkward position, Kim Ji-hun leaned away from him and straightened his back.

Giving him a piercing gaze, he scolded, "Because of you, my sexuality is being questioned."

As Kang Dae-jung stood to his feet while adjusting the sleeves of his chest, he retorted without meeting his gaze.

"Honestly if I didn't know your feelings for Oh Ji-Soo, I would have thought you were wholeheartedly married and devoted to work only."
