Chapter 29

“Hey, Frodo!”

“Hi, Bill.”

“Just have a sec but wanted to call and wish you luck at your meet tomorrow.”

“Thanks. How are things going?”

“Great. The NFL scouts have been buzzing around like a swarm of bees. The coaches warned us to avoid them except in arranged interviews. They may actually be agents, not really scouts. We’re not supposed to talk to agents. We accidently say or do something, and we could lose our eligibility to play if we decide not to draft this year.”

Did that mean Bill was still considering staying at the U another year? Frank hoped so.

“Okay, well, be careful. You wouldn’t want to screw that up.”

“I will. Gotta go. Love you, Frodo.”

Frank smiled. “I love you, too, Strider.”

Frank went to the elevators, which were far less crowded, and got in. He was lost in thought over Bill’s conversation—the yin-yang of their future still on his mind.

He pressed three and the doors started to close. “Hold the elevator!” someone called.
