Stupid and Dumb

Evelyn marched through the door of the company. Her powerful steps were confident and determined.

Everyone was looking at the lady in black. Her dress was well fitted, and she was flaunting her figure. Her milky white long legs shined like stars. A white blazer was dangling around her shoulders.

Her plain black heels were making a 'click-clack' sound on the marble floor.

Evelyn was followed by two men in suits, along with four bodyguards. She entered like a queen in the company.

"Who is she?"

"No idea. But looking at her aura and security, she might not be an ordinary person."

"Who is she here for?"

"She is taking the private elevator."

"Do you think she is our president's rumored, true love?"

"Might be"

"Don't forget the President's wife has gone up."

"What will happen now?"

Amid all the murmurs, Evelyn entered the elevator smiling.

As she entered the President's floor, the secretary tried to stop her, but her bodyguard blocked everyone coming.

Evelyn steps halted before the locked door. Fain voices could be heard from inside.

"You are never at home. Who do you take me for?"

"What am I for? A showpiece?"

"Why the hell are you ignoring me?" A loud 'clash' was heard from within.

Evelyn could not take it any longer. Her eyes sparkled with mischief.

'It has been days I had a silly unwanted conversation with someone.' Evelyn giggled as she straightened her dress.

She pushed the door open and entered. She could see many pieces of glass scattered around. Her eyes narrowed at this sight.

"I assumed there was a dog here, barking and scattered things," Evelyn turned to look at Olivia, whose face was flaming with fury. "but it turned out to be Mrs. Black."

"You...You..." Olivia was beyond infuriated, "Why are you here?"

"That should not be your concern, right." Evelyn smiled as she stepped further inside.

Dave Black was looking at Evelyn ambiguously. He stroked his hand over his temples in impediment.

Evelyn being here was not good news. She came without any prior notice, and Evelyn even entered his cabin at her will.

"How did you enter without knocking?" Olivia was already humiliated by Dave's indifference towards her, but now Evelyn's ignorance was a stab at her dignity.

"Get out," Olivia pointed her long finger towards the door, "NOW!"

"Careful, Mrs. Black," Evelyn sat on the chair facing Dave with a smile plastered on her face, "I am here to talk with Mr. Black, not you."

Olivia could not handle it anymore. Her patience was on the verge of breaking. She hurried and took a step near Evelyn to hold her hand and kick her out for overlooking her authority.

According to Olivia, Evelyn had no right to be here. They were having a private conversation, and Evelyn was an intruder. It was better to kick her out to satisfy Olivia's ego.

"Think before you act, Olivia," Evelyn turned before Olivia could lay a hand on her. Her eyes with intense and filled with annoyance.

"You don't want to suffer like the last time, do you?"

"I heard your husband could not join you at home after that." Evelyn's words pierced Olivia's heart.

The last time of which Evelyn was speaking was on her reception day when Evelyn stated that her company would no longer be associated with the BH Industries. Not only Black's alone but also Olivia's whole family suffered from this retaliation.

Olivia was sure it was an act of private revenge not a strategic move for her company. Evelyn has taken her revenge for separating Dave from his lover.

But who was Dave's love? Olivia was unsure of it. She had confessed her love for him only to be rejected.

"You are not the investor anymore," Olivia laughed, "What else can you do?"

"Do not question my capabilities, Mrs. Black" Evelyn ran down her fingers through her long wavy hair, "Try pissing me off one more time and see for yourself."

Dave could not endure this anymore. He was a rational businessman. His family's power was deep-rooted, but Dave had still suffered due to Evelyn once. He did not wish to go through the experience again.

"Olivia, Go home."

"Why?" Olivia's voice was overflowed with resentment, "So that you could have a private time with your lover?"

"Lover?" Evelyn laughed, "You think I am Mr. Black's lover?"

"Don't act like you are not. I have seen you many times with him before. He refused to marry me since he had someone he loved and then I saw him with you. Laughing and smiling which he had never done before."

"But he still married you." Evelyn gazed at Dave with a questionable look as if accusing him of abandoning his love.

"A girl with a normal background is not fit to be Mrs. Black," Olivia said with confidence.

Olivia was happy that her background at that moment ticked all the boxes required by the Black family. She was in love with Dave and even chased after him after he rejected her.

When Dave agreed to marry Olivia, she was the happiest person alive. Olivia genuinely believed Dave was touched by her dedication and love. But on their wedding day, he made her sign an agreement, Olivia still endured, but he never came near her.

On her wedding day, Olivia felt that she had finally won, Dave was smiling and laughing with her, but the reality was much cruel.

"You still think my background is normal." Evelyn saw the tears struggling to burst free in Olivia's eyes.

"No, but I am already married to him, and I will never divorce him."

"Okay, now get out." Evelyn ridiculed, "I have something important to talk with your husband."

"I am not leaving you two alone," Olivia was determined, "A little lover like you can never take him away from me."

"Away from you?" Evelyn was losing patience, "You must be kidding me. I can never be in love with someone who abandons his love for family prestige."

Evelyn's words were mocking. It was true that Dave left the love of his life to gain the company. Marrying into equal status to gain more power was the basic foundation in their family.

Dave still regretted his choice. He still loved only her, girlfriend or not, she was the only one for him, but the girl refused to be with Dave after he decided to marry someone else. Only if he could get her back somehow.

"A stupid person like him can only marry a dumb person like you," Evelyn felt sorry for Olivia. But Evelyn's love for her best friend was much greater than Olivia's suffering.

"You...You.."

"Me what?" Evelyn's tone was loaded with wrath, "Get out of here before I lose my temper."

"Dave, look at her. She called your wife dumb." Olivia looked at her husband with expectation.

"And she called me stupid." Dave was tired of this conversation. He has known Evelyn for a few years now, and she never indulged herself with such stupid fights.

Dave called in security to escort his troublesome wife out. Maybe Evelyn's words were true. He was really stupid to marry a dumb lady who could not read the mood and sprouted nonsense.

What prestigious etiquette and high social standards. Dave laughed at himself for his own stupid choices. A moment of hesitation has messed up his life.

"Now that we are alone," Dave breathed in the air to soothe his mind after the talking machine was out, "What brings you here?"

Evelyn looked at the familiar face. How long had it been? If only Dave did not betray her good friend, she might not have been in this situation.

"Mr. Black."

"Call me Dave, as you used to Eve."

"I don't think you have any right to call me that," Evelyn looked at the tired eyes of Dave, "And nor should I be calling you by your first name."

"We have known each other for so long, Evelyn."

"Call me Miss Day please," Evelyn was stubborn at her decision.

"How is..." Dave hesitated to ask further. What right did he have to ask? She was nowhere to be found.

Evelyn understood what Dave caved to ask. But she was in no mood to answer, "Concentrating on your business would be better at this point."

"Now getting back to business," Seeing Dave silent for a few seconds, Evelyn continues, "Your dear younger brother sent me this."

Evelyn handed him the papers that Kyle had sent over.

"T-This" Dave read on the content. Evelyn was waiting patiently till he finished it.

"Are you really.." Dave's eyes widened.

Kyle should not have taken this step on his own. He had no idea what this new information would bring in his life.

"It doesn't matter," Evelyn giggled, "Make sure your brother knows his place."

Evelyn got up from her chair, elegantly, "Because I won't be this forgiving again."

"And keep this copy with you. I already have the originals with me. My lawyers will fill you with details." With these words, Evelyn left, leaving Dave behind.
