1 Bride With No Groom

TWO PEOPLE LOCKED IN A TIGHT EMBRACE

Anna stood a distance away as she watched the two people ahead locked in a tight embrace, fingers intertwined staring at each other lovingly giving promises of forever to each other. she felt nauseous, fresh tears streaking her face.

This was supposed to be the best day of her life, her wedding day yet here she was, in front of her house wearing her wedding dress watching as her fiance held another girl, her best friend. She watched as the two betrayed her openly.

Harry did not show up at their wedding.

Phone calls went unanswered but as the final call went through, he picked up and said, "Anna, sorry I cannot come. I have another person in my heart.

I cannot marry you...." He said many things but what stuck in her head was, " I have another person in my heart." This hit hard. All she felt was pain. Her chest was stifling ready to burst.

She stood there, conscious yet unconscious. Her heart hurt so much.

She did everything for him. Her life, her career, her family, everything had him in it. Many people at the church were staring at her with both pity and contempt.

Everyone was looking at her. Bride with no groom. She stormed out of the Church in tears. She needed a face-to-face explanation or else she would not accept whatever she was told but when she finally found him, this was the scene she was met with, Harry locking hands with another declaring love for her.

She had worked hard for him but after her hard work, why would another woman get him easily. Life was so unfair. She steadily walked towards them and tapped his shoulders. Harry looked back completely shocked after seeing her but he calmed down soon enough. Lilian was in his arms looking like the lotus. Harry started explaining, he talked for a very long time.

Once he finished Anna looked at him and said,

"Harry, you've betrayed me today, I understand so I don't need your explanation. But today I am telling you, you will pay for everything you've done to me. Every tear and pain I've felt, I'll return it same measure to you. You know me best, I never lie."

After she said her piece, she landed a tight slap on Lillian's face before she turned in a huff and left. Harry was left dumbfounded, not knowing how to react, to follow or not to follow, but when she looked at the prints and blood on Lillian's face he stood still. For some reason hearing the "I never lie" from her, a chill ran down his spine for he himself knew the truth behind her words best,

ANNA NEVER LIED.

___________

Anna walked down the steps ignoring the looks from the passersby. She probably looked funny but she didn't care. Hair disheveled, makeup smudged from the tears, and of course, her wedding dress which she chose meticulously to please Harry was now dirty. She did not even notice her feet did not have shoes.

She felt many emotions building up, her chest felt stuffy from frustration, and anger. She felt choked, dragged to an abyss she didn't want to get out of.

Betrayal from people you trusted always hit differently. No matter how hard you ignored the pain was still there. She remembered Lillian's face when she wished her a happy marriage yet the day that was to be her best was destroyed in her hands. Life was very unfair.

Harry, her childhood, youth, and part of her adulthood. Every time he would say " I will never leave you" but the day she needed not to be left, he still left without looking back. How touching.

Tears stopped, and an eerie smile crept its way to her face, making her look like a demoness straight from hell. The smudged makeup made her face particularly chilly, very frightening.

"Everyone will pay, I never lie"
