The other attraction was a golden haired snow coloured tomboy with sapphire eyes. For most of the boys the difference between diamond and sapphires were long forgotten. Both lassies showed their beauty in two distinct ways.It was very hard to choose one queen.

There were closed to one hundred young people in each academic year in the university . At least five batches were there at a given time. The students were from many countries around the world. It served a multicultural group of youngsters .The university of Middle Bharath was well reputed college to educate young scholars from rich aristocrat families mainly the royals. It was like a small kingdom of crown princes. How ever, at that time it was not a common practice to educate girls in universities. They were given their primary education mainly in there homes. They were taught sewing ,cooking ,singing and good etiquette ,which were essential for their life styles in a male dominant culture. Our two beauties were among the very few girls who were lucky enough to get a systematic education going against the common practice. The dark haired ivory beauty Janaki was sent by her adopted parents as there were continous conflicts within the family.Mandodari, was a determined feminist from her childhood, who was after equal rights.

It was a fine lunch served with various delicacies. The chillied vegetables coated in gram flour , fried in coconut oil were crispy in each bite. The flat bread made out of whole wheat flour were dipped in white curd sauce. The boys were busier with the mutton korma cooked with garam masala and cow milk.

"Lucky for me ,my lovable friend is always a vegetarian ." Mando was teasing Janaki while eating her friends portion of deep fried fish after finishing her own. They were in the large dining dome adjacent to the kitchen complex. The kitchen of the university is under the administration of the student council and the teachers. Each student was assigned to the kitchen duty for atleast one month in each academic year to master their culinary arts as a rotation in small groups. The moto was "King or the beggar who eats need to do the dishes in same manner."

It was the kitchen rotation of both Mando and Janaki. Discipline in the kitchen was observed by the assistant professors. Each and every meal was tasted by the dean. Financial management was a mandatory requirement in each group. Well mannered Janaki was always praised by the teaching staff for her tidiness and calm behaviour. Her cooking skills were marvelous. In some occasions teachers were lost in their thoughts while talking to her. Her diamond eyes were deep and affectionate. Her long braided blue black hair was like a crown.

The messy missy was totally different from her friend. Her golden curls were scattered around her oval face. Her complexion was more likely of a newborn infant. Her eyes were like ceylon blue sapphires. There were only few students with her hair colour throughout the college history. Her whereabouts were unknown by the many people. She was well known for her mischievous behaviour similar to the naughtiest boy among them. Her warm affectionate smile was difficult to forget.

The two girls were pure in their hearts without envy towards each other. Their friendship was a deep affection with mutual understanding. They were coping up each other disregarding their racial difference. Life was a harp melody for both of them. They were given same uniform as the boys. Therefore their slender figures were hidden in those rough attires. If their silk and cashmeres were on them they might have shown more feminine characters.

However, each and every boy had a dream of being one of their lover except two of the boys. Who were very close to them being there group mates rather than observers.
