1 The King is sick
The sun shone brightly in the sky, A ray of sunshine passed through the windows, lighting up the silent room. The room was silent until the sound of a phone ringing echoed in the room, Allison who was asleep groaned as she heard the phone ringing, she picked the phone up from where she had placed it and brought the phone closer to her face to check the caller ID she noticed that it was her father, she answered the phone call and spoke "Dad why are you...." but before she could finish her sentence she was cut off
"Good morning your highness the King is sick and he would like to see you "
"What do you mean the king is sick, can I please speak to my father"
"Am afraid that is not possible, the king is taking a rest, but we've been instructed to let you know that you are required to come home, the private jet will be there to pick you up tomorrow at 9 am sharp" the person on the other line said before ending the call without waiting for her reply.
She quickly got out of bed with her phone in her hands, she called her twin brother, he answered her call after three rings
"Alfred where are you? "she asked
"At home, why?"
"Nothing, I got a phone call from dad this morning but it wasn't dad that called, it was someone else, he told me that dad was sick and that the private jet would be here to pick me up tomorrow morning "she explained to her brother
"I haven't gotten any calls from home yet but I think maybe they were expecting you to inform me"
"I think you are right, so that means I will see you at the airport tomorrow morning"
"Yes you will, bye"
After her phone call with her brother, she got ready for work and went downstairs for breakfast
"Good morning Miss Kingston" Martha her housekeeper greeted
"Good morning Martha" she responded befoe going on with what she had to say to her "I will be be taking a trip home tomorrow, I don't know when I will be back so you don't need to come in to work daily anymore, all you will only need to do is to come in on weekends to clean the house and also less I forget I would like you to empty and restuck the pantry every weekend, you can take the items or donate them to a shelter but make sure you do something with it, I don't want the food items to go to waste. That will be all for now you may leave" after giving instructions to her house keeper she began to eat breakfast, After she was done she made her way to her office. On her arrival, she was welcomed by the sight of an enormous skyscraper, she made her way into the building as she walked into the building she was greeted by her staff members before making her way to the elevator once she arrived at her floor, she was greeted by her assistant.
"Good morning Miss Kingston"
"Good morning Emmma" she responded as she made her way to her office which was the only one on the floor, she unlocked the door with her fingerprint and walked into the office, it was quite spacious with the black and white coloured walls making it look simple but yet elegant and classy, there was a floor to ceiling window which revealed a nice view of the city, it also housed a fully functional kitchen a bathroom and a room, it also had a secret passage out of the company in case of emergency, she had all these facilities built in so that on days when she planned to work over time she could just stay the night in her office rather than going back home.
"Emma clear my schedule for the next one week, I am taking a trip home, I don't know when I will be back but you can have any important documents I need to sign while I am away emailed to me but for now you can read my schedule for today"
"Okay, you have a meeting with the department managers at 9:30, you have a meeting with Miss Anderson and her brother by 10:30, Afterwards you have a lunch meeting with the investors"
"Okay then if that's all then you are dismissed"
"Okay ma'am" she replied before turning around to leave but before she could reach for the door she heard Allison ask her a question so she turned around to face her
"Any updates on the branch that we are working on in Histonaro, since I will be taking a trip there tomorrow and I don't know when I will be coming back, I would like to have a progress report on what is going on there before the end of today, I will be overseeing everything starting day after tomorrow"
"Okay ma'am I will have it delivered to you before the end of today" she started before leaving. Not long after her assistant left, she heard a knock on the door
"Come in" Hearing this the person at the door walked in
After the person walked in she noticed that it was her friend Evelyn and her brother Marcus Anderson
"Hi guys, let's begin with the meeting shall we"
"Okay" they replied in unison
After the meeting was over Allison decided to inform her friend that she would be leaving tomorrow
"Evelyn, I am taking a trip to Histonaro tomorrow"
"Why the sudden trip did someone die or something," her friend inquires
"No, apparently my father is sick and wants to see me, I got a call from home this morning"
"At least you get a vacation, some of us are really busy" Marcus chimed in
"Oh please you and I know how much I am dreading going back home"
"I think it's not fair to your dad that you haven't visited home since you left Histonaro for the States" Emma tried to reason with her
"Like common you haven't visited home for 7 years" Marcus added
"Please you both know the reason I have been avoiding that palace" she defended
"No matter what he is still your dad and I think you should cut him some slack"
"Emma, I can't just act like everything is okay after what he did"
"Why are you even going back if you haven't forgiven him" Emma questioned
"I am going back because he is sick and wants to see me" she replied
"No matter how much you try to lie to yourself deep down the truth is that you care about him"
"Whatever, do you want to come along with me" she said rolling her eyes
"I don't know, perhaps if you could tell us how long this trip will last"Emma stated
"I don't know how long it will last, it's depending on how sick he is"Allison replied
"Count me out, I am very busy and I can't take any trips right now" Marcus announced, although Marcus was Emma's elder brother he was also Allison's friend, Emma was her first friend in the States, they met in boarding school and attended the same college, Allison would sometimes stay with them during the holidays, so it was only natural that they knew everything about each other and that she was friends with her brother, plus he also considered her as a sister just as Emma did.
After completing the days work Allison left for her home, she took a shower changed her clothes ate dinner and decided to pack her things so that she would not be in a rush the next morning.
